My MIL was a fan of Nick Clooney and sent Christmas presents to George and his siblings when then were children. They always sent her handwritten thank you letters. (We assume they were required to do so, but it was a kind gesture nonetheless.) When she was in the hospital, close to death, Nick was there visiting a friend. Nick remembered her and came to visit her. It was a highlight of her life. They are a gracious family.
I wrote letters, short ones, from the Tooth Fairy and Santa and others,,,had to write it in a different fancy script!!! They loved it and I kept the letters for them!! Imagination is a great gift we give to our kids!!!

I was in the USN in 1972 and in England. My shipmates and I got into the wrong train car. We didn't notice that we were in first class without the proper tickets. The conductor took our tickets and saw we weren't supposed to be in first class. He stared at us and asked straight away if were French. When we told him we were American he paused and then said, "You can stay". God help us if we had been French! Evidently the Brits can keep a grudge. Great book. Will see the movie on Christmas day.

1972-1939=33 yrs. That's when London started being bombed. He knew we funded & supplied weapons. Many of our pilots flew w RAF b4 Pearl Harbor. We, took the brunt of damage on 6/5/44. At Normandy. Many of our servicemen brought English brides back. If he was old nuff, he knew.

I like his movies a lot. There is one memorable movie I enjoyed watching with George as main star…and that is The American. In which he plays an assassin. Powerful story.

The best way to explain santa to kids is that santa was real once but he was a normal man (he was a 4th century bishop) who made gifts for children & now parents carry on his tradition.
