OK. I definitely feel the vibe of It’s No Game by Bowie ;) This girl really is earning the Female Bowie embodiment, and not because of these obvious similarities. Her albums are works of pure art.
I though the "seiken no huhai" in Masseduction were "taken up for hype", and i'm just finding out right now that it's supposed to be a japanese phrase 😭
@lovethispizza Am I the only one who thinks that MASSEDUCTION is easily her worst album and she kinda sold out a bit? I was pretty stoked for it until I heard Los Ageless and thought it was the most poppy/lazy thing she's ever done. It's like all her style is still there but it's very musically uninspired, almost like a parody of herself. Fuck, maybe that's the whole point of the album, hence the name. I was extra disappointed to see she ditched her live band for backing tracks and changed her old songs to sound more like the new record. I love Annie and her first four albums, I think she's one of the greatest artists of our time, but this new album really bummed me out. I thought she could only improve, but it seems like she was more focused on building her popularity instead of making amazing pieces of art like she used to. Lemme know what you think if you get the chance. I just haven't really seen any perspectives other than high praise for this album, I personally don't think it's deserved.
I kind of felt the same. I love St. Vincent's work and still admire her but agree that her albums prior to Masseduction are much better, sonically and production-wise. I feel like since she signed onto Loma Vista and produced Masseduction with Jack Antonoff, she DOES want her music to reach mainstream ears and that is her prerogative (not blaming her for it or anything). I think this album resonates well with new St. Vincent fans and it was a smart marketing move. To be completely honest, I used to be stoked to hear new singles but now I am pretty meh about it. I really hope her next release is something left field and different. After she released KROKODIL and GROT, I was actually hoping her sound would turn more punk, sludge metal, 90s industrial. HOWEVER, her recent NIN cover is great.

You can really hear the Bowie influence on this track, especially when you compare it to Annie's favourite Bowie song, It's No Game (Part 1). Love it!
She is Bowie's true heir. Yeah, I said it.
Belle Of Kilronan or at least the female version of him. Loving her!
On
Annie's favorite is its no game (part 2)
I love all her weird "bonus" tracks the best.
well actually all the sounds were in Masseduction (the title track) even tho samples other than "seiken no huhai" were very faint
This is St. Vincent. Amazing and more amazing again and again
EQ-smoove No, she’s not. The album is about seduction and delves into fetish/dominatrix.
how is that not amazing exactly?
riggamorrischan that’s amazing. You’re just vanilla.
I appreciate this on so many levels.
I wish Toko had more solo songs
Check out her album released under the name Plvs Vltra, it's her first solo album
Toko love
This song is kinda blowing my mind after I heard this is being sung in Japanese.
I’m at the gym listening to this song 🎆👌🏻
The butt is moving!!!!! LOL
正に今の"日本"を歌っている様な。
Love her
I'm only just now begining to like the masseduction song. This seems better. More space in it.
So is this a metaphor on how the establishment fucks with us?

This cured my not having a headache
Good, kill the weak!
this really is no game

That moment, when you are such a master at trolling people that you even have the Japanese bonus track of your album recorded in Japanese.

Yeah exactly, like it's not terrible, but I wouldn't find myself putting it on. Every one of her albums is memorable except this one imo.
I think Los Ageless is pretty lit
