Love this. This is how hard work sounds. Non musicians might get the impression that this is just jamming, having fun and randomly trying out stuff, but trust me, it's not. It's highly talented young musicians successfully fighting against fatigue. The number of fantastic albums and crazy tour schedules back in the 1970s was insane.
had a crush on all but Phil (in my heart he replaced Gabriel and took a long time for me to warm up to haha silly i know) PG was my main crush tho, only one friend understood that in HS yrs All musical geniuses! along with Genesis, YES & Moodies were all i listened to , later were Bowie, Roxy & Eno added Awesome musical times! glad i lived thru and with it
Bad audio etc.. Genesis are still my heroes though ! So I'd say put out an album that surpasses this. Then, my friends, YOU are on to something ??? jeffgenesis :-)
Are you for real? This is REAL, it's embryonic and messy in form yes, but these were created BEFORE the album version. Young musicians could learn a lot about jamming songs together from this type of demo play.
They are not out takes , they are working on the music. I've done this with a band and it can take hours playing the same thing over and over again until you decide which bits to keep.
This is the way that most bands co-write music. It starts with a jam (Genesis used the 'jamming' approach a lot) and the result, if it shows promise, is then honed and changed and edited until you get the song that the fans hear when they buy the record or go to a concert. It's a tried and tested method. If you're a musician you'll appreciate this as an act of pure Alchemy of the very best kind. I speak from experience. Listen to it from this angle and you might just begin to appreciate it. If not, try listening a later part in the process of composing, which is closer to the finished product.

I've said it for years, but I REALLY want the band to release instrumental versions of their albums from "Trespass" to "Wind and Wuthering".

So you'd reject a beautiful wooden statue because you didn't like the tree it was carved from?
