    This film has the same plot as the Chuck Norris movie "Silent Rage" (a psychopath is killed and resurrected as an indestructible mute), which was mocked on Rifftrax. Also, the doctor's lab assistant is played by Joe Flynn, best remembered as Captain Binghamton from "McHale's Navy," and several Disney comedies, such as "The Love Bug," "The Barefoot Executive," "The Million Dollar Duck," and a trio of movies in which he played Dean Higgins of Medfield College opposite Kurt Russell.

But still, I think it'd be easier for them to push "that preacher/cult leader from Judea that you've heard about? Yeah, guy had some crazy magical powers" instead of inventing a person wholesale. I mean, after gods of war, sky and sun, creating a carpenter seems like quite a step down.
      Also, I should probably clarify. By Romans I mean the Ancient kind, not the guys who lived in Rome in th early medieval times who were trying to sell Christanity to the rest of the world ;)

      I think the mistake was more "Let's experiment on the body of the massive serial killer". You don't give fate an opening like that.
      They don't even pretend to have a justification, either, like "we need the amoral survival instinct of the criminal mind to break through the veil of death" or some such. Just the Doc doing cancer experiments, and the need for a fresh body, so they get the Butcher. They couldn't wait 45 minutes for a donorcycle crash? It's worth grabbing the most famous body in town for your secret experiment because you can't wait? Why?
      This is already more effort than the producers put in.

The first episode was filmed after Joel realized that building some of the puppets and props was going to be more difficult than he thought, and he was forced to pull a 2- or 3-day work bender to get it done in time for shooting. The sad thing about this awful movie is that the actor got throat cancer and couldn't speak, so they simply had him lumber about making weird faces.

    • @MrKmanthie
      @MrKmanthie Před 7 lety +2

      Chaney was so wrecked by booze that this 1, being 1 of his last flicks, he couldn't even speak, at least coherently enough so they wrote that into the script: when reanimated, all that juice needed to zap him back fried his vocal cords.

    • @miyoshiumeki

      BoojumFed MANY THANX FOR THE ACCURATE INFO!..LC JR did pretty well as the devil/ host in a European tv series; fine support as a warlock servant to V Price in the HAUNTED PALACE-and lastly SPIDER BABY which benefits from his professional touch...

    Hard to say which was the best MST3k episode, but this ranks right up there. The boys outdid themselves here with a movie that was pretty funny in its own right. Lon Chaney's alcoholism caused him to lose his dialogue memory, hence his role here consists of hardly any lines, just a lot of squinting of his eyes. "Hey, Lon, act like you've got the DTs!"
