I'm not very superstitious, but my first experience had a lot of similar elements compared to others so I've always wonder if there was more to sleep paralysis.
I felt a presence across the room before my nap, I was tired, and i didn't see anything, so I proceeded to take a nap. I woke up briefly, feeling the presence was now closer, but I was still tired and saw nothing so I went back to sleep. Then I woke up feeling that it was right on top of me. That's the part that makes me wonder if there's more to the story.

3 years late but as someone that experiences SP like 2-3 times a month. Always try to move both your hands and feet and focus on saying something to yourself(I just say a prayer in order to let it pass calmly as many times as I have to, to wake up). That combination most of the time, helps me wake up in like a minute or so. After you've been through it a bunch of times it isn't that terrifying of an experience anymore, since you have a strategy to defeat your demons. I hope this helps someone. Sleep well everyone !❤

I love watching your videos. I usually don't really go for educational content, but you make it fun at the same time. And I like to learn stuff on the way :)
    Little story time:
I kept having neck pain and headaches because of my sleeping position. So once, I tried sleeping on my back.
I had a sleep paralysis for the first time that night. Since my best-friend (at the time) told me about a lot of her sleep paralysis experiences, involving black humanoid shadows, I did not open my eyes. I felt pins and needles all over my body, but was unable to move. However, my head was upright, and it terrified me, so I gathered all my strength and was able to turn my head to the side (facing the wall), still having my eyes closed. I don't remember how and when it ended, but I think I fell asleep after that and just woke up the next morning.
It was a terrifying experience, even though I didn't see anything. I've never purposefully fallen asleep on my back since that night.

I've experienced sleep paralysis so many times now I've gotten used to it.
The earliest example they I can think of was back when I was 6 (I guess) it was summer and I was freaked out by something while dozing off afternoon. I remember experiencing something similar when I was 8 years old as well.
After my ADHD started to kick in things got more interesting; I'd doze off during class and my body would basically petrify and I'd get annoyed by the teachers countless repetitions on a very simple and criminally boring subject.
Nowadays I get some "skydiving " sessions on my afternoon sleep paralysis sessions. :D I like it so much, it helps me to relax more effectively.
It gets worrying sometimes though; for example back when I was 16 I've had a fever and apparently I've freaked out my dormmates by constantly calling out their name and looking at their souls like a psychopath.

The one I had just less than 2 hours ago was just barely long enough for me to experience a weight on my chest that made feel like I couldn't breathe. Of course I immediately tried my best to move and in a couple seconds I could move my head a little and soon my entire body allowing me to break free from the paralysis to being fully awake.

First time I ever experienced sleep paralysis was literally right after I had learned it even existed and that the best thing to do is never open your eyes and thank god for that because I remembered it in my state of panic and was able to keep my eyes closed until I could pull myself out of it. I could feel some physical entity hovering parallel over me staring at my face, but I never had to actually look at it. Grounding myself with a physical sensation in my room is my go to for breaking it. That time my cat was sleeping pressed up against my leg and I focused on his weight until I calmed down. Idk if it’s common but every time I’ve been caught in sleep paralysis I had fallen asleep flat on my back🤷‍♀️

I woke up just to get the worst jump scare of my life by the same thing. I had woke up into more of the dreams. I would “Wake up” several times after that and it took a lot of confidence for me to open my eyes to find out if it was real or not. If you ever experience sleep paralysis, try focusing on one part of the body, preferably a finger. Your body can't wake up instantly, but you can "force it" to. You'll eventually start gaining control over your finger, then your palm, after that the whole arm (but the control won't be very responsive, you'll just be able to move it on your own a bit) and then you'll probably wake up fully.

so here is a waste of time and my sleep paralysis story:
it was around 4 in the morning and i was thinking "i wonder what will happen if i open my eyes super fast" so i did and ended up giving myself sleep paralysis and i was scared to go to bed for the rest of the week.
lesson: don't open your eyes super fast

I think that you were already having it before opening your eyes. Can't just "give yourself a sleep paralysis". If you are in the bed after sleeping and are able to think, it's either you waking up or the sleep paralysis.
Hope you have peaceful nights bro :)

I remember my first sleep paralysis. Thankfully I had already heard of its existence, so I knee that there was nothing to fear and that it would pass. I do sleep on my side 99% of the time with a limited visual of my room, so I haven't actually seen any creature during any of the episodes - I just get this really loud buzzing in my ears and of course the paralysis itself. I generally get them "semi-often" and always as I'm about to fall asleep it seems, sometimes I manage to trigger it back to back. I am, however, a bit conscious about falling asleep on my back, because I'd rather not have an episodes where some dude sits on my chest or looks at me in the corner of the room.

I had sleep paralysis constantly for a period of time some years back. I would worry every night going to bed, fearing that I might wake up sleep paralyzed again. Although I came to understand what I was experiencing, I still couldn't help but tense up. The only thing I could really control during the episode is to yell to myself internally to open my eyes and wake up asap. I don't know if my eyes were opened during sleep but I always felt my eyes wide open after forcing myself to wake up.
I later noticed that in my case, having things in motion in my room (turning on the fan, playing soft music, flashing tiny light from electronics) while I sleep, or sleeping in the fetal position helps to prevent sleep paralysis. Also, if I fell asleep with the lights on, I will always wake up feeling safe, albeit sleep quality was sacrificed. Now I wonder if sleep paralysis can occur during the day.

Sleep paralysis is the worst. I've had it for as long as I can remember. They '"flare up" whenever I lack sleep. Some tips for fellow sleep paralysis sufferers out there:
    1. Take long, deep breaths (at least thrice)
    2. Then try moving the tip of your fingers, followed by your knuckles, and see if it's possible to clench your fists
    3. I've found that it helps to "awaken" my senses gradually this way
Important thing is keep a regular sleep schedule.

Only like 10 sleep paralysis incidents, back when I was 8 or younger. During this, I would feel really scared, and everything I looked at (including the inside of my eyelids) felt zoomed out but also zoomed in, and I felt really tiny. Everything was also covered in tiny vibrating specks. Reminds me of atoms. There were also like 2 incidents where the same thing happened, but I would have some sort of entities as well. I would hallucinate an upright shelf, and a bunch of dust particles like the ones from Totoro. The dust particles would zoom up the side of the shelf to get to the top, and I was able to zoom in on each dust particle individually, but also see the whole thing from my bed at the same time. The dust did not at all interact with me, though. One time, it happened (without the dust), and somehow I interpreted the whole situation as a goddess, so I actually got up somehow (despite the sleep paralysis) and told my mom "she's back" while crying
Haven't had a sleep paralysis incedent for years, fortunately.

When i sleep and a couple minutes pass by, i wake up (fully aware of my surroundings) but when i try to move, i cant no matter how hard you try, you're just paralyzed, sometimes i can barely tilt my head. The only way you can wake up is to try really hard, or if someone or something wakes you up like something that catches your attention when you are awake but paralyzed. Yeah its a real scary experience.
Edit: by the way, many people are saying they can see some sort of monstrous creature or shadow when they're on sleep paralysis. Ive experienced over 5 or 6 SPs in my whole life until today (all of them was caused by exhaustion) and none of those episodes i have ever saw something like a demonic creature. I may've experienced sleep-paralysis before, but never realized.
So, I sometimes do realize that I'm awake but can't get up. However, I usually think that I sleep in a comfortable position and am really sleepy. I have to try REALLY hard to will myself to move.
It doesn't feel like there's anything on top of me. Just really hard to move.

I’ve only had sleep paralysis once, I ‘woke up’ in a really uncomfortable position where I was rolled over on my arms, I tried to move but I couldn’t. Then I tried to open my eyes, but they wouldn’t open, I tried screaming for help because I had no idea what was going on. I just sat there for 5 minutes trying to scream until I was finally able to move.
