Rockfish and Sheephead fishing fun on the Long Beach 3/4 day Victory boat

- Had an incredible day on the Victory boat out of Berth 55 in Long Beach. Completely limited out on rockfish including Boccacio, Sculpin, tree fish, red snapper, white fish and my first Sheephead on this amazing day. 3/4 day trips are significantly different and in my opinion are well worth the time to go. Long beach fishing proved to be so much fun I can't wait to head out again.
Used my Penn 505 and a Daiwa Lexa 400

Best bet to catch a lingcod is a overnight boats or lingcod specials on all venture sport fish landings. Good luck!
I bet, they are just my target fish this year. Will be trying to do everything I can to catch one in 2020!
Sheephead is my target fish on the boats too. So far the only one I've caught was on the Green Pleasure Pier in Catalina. It was so strong my friend had to help pull up up for me. It was a 17in.
Had a BLAST, I'm too concerned to head out now with Covid but I really miss heading out and getting excited for the 100' mark as the boat starts coming in for the day. So much fun
@@FisherNewb I've been out on the boats five times since they reopened in June. They have mask requirements and keep everything extra clean. I also keeps hand sanitizing wipes on me to clean my hands with.
It's totally worth it man. I caught a huge salmon grouper on the boat last weekend. Definitely my personal best.
Great video 👍
Thank you! Appreciate you watching and visiting/subbing to my channel.
When you go for lings cods go on the el dorado it’s also at berth 55 but it’s just over night trips and up. But they usually take you to Saint Nick island they have killer lings over there. Also great boat comfy and the deck hands are totally awesome. Been fishing that boat since a kid.
I have heard the same, I need to get up more north to get a good ling. Still wanting to grab a local one if I can. Will be doing everything I can to hook one this year
For lingcod, the further up north of the west coast the better chances of catching them up to Alaska :). In So Cal probably the CISCO, Santa Barbara or Ventura Landings have ok shots at them right now. Check 976-tuna.com or other sport fishing report sites if you aren't already.
I am kinda "stuck" at the choices of Long Beach, San Pedro and Newport for now until I can get more free time to travel more. Serious research going on where I am just trying to figure out how to catch a ling. Then, Yellowtail will be my next target. Thanks for watching!
Were you fishing by the oil rigs?
For a bit yah then moved into the shallow parts for the Sheephead and Whitefish catching
What are those white pliers called that you use?
They are just a fish clamp from Walmart. Think it was $10? I love them and use them all the time.
Next time grab the fish by it’s gill plate. It’s easier that way
I need to learn how to do that, I saw the deckhands doing it and yah it certainly seems easier and better grip. Thanks!
Shhhhh dont tell people about the shrimp😳
Learned about it on you tube, just tried it out and it worked that day for sure!
