Thanks 🙏🏼 my guess is compression means shallowing out and hitting the ball in the middle of the club face which means the sweet spot is striking it on a downward blow. I had a bad round today too much vibration. But a round ago I was compressing well and only felt vibration on one shot. Thanks for video simple stuff really

I’ve found it difficult to rotate the arm to impact at the right time. So I turned in the club face at address - which meant I could deliver the face square at impact simply by rotating as you demonstrate.

WITHOUT PERHAPS BEING AWARE ,YOU ARE ADVOCATING STARTING THE DOWNSWING WITH ROTATION. THIS IS BAD BAD FOR most people. You need a lateral movement first accompanied by a slight right side bend during the transition to start the down swing then comes the rotation part less anyone gets the wrong idea. Starting the downswing with rotation (of hips and torso) from the top as advocated inevitably leads to spinning out of the shot.

While I see what you are saying, it depends on the teaching. A lot of the teaching now is exactly as you say, a shifting of the weight onto the lead side but a lot of tutors prefer to have this shift as part of the backswing and not the downswing as your weight shift ideally should happen just before the top of the backswing, then a rotation on the downswing.

Thanks for the reply. No teacher recommends 100% of weight shift onto lead foot as part of the backswing. Some weight shift for sure onto lead foot in the backswing but the shift is progressive and is completed onto the lead foot during the downswing. The more weight shift onto the lead foot the more downward the strike. Great for taking divots and moving the low point forward for ball divot contact.

@@pohoresky I think you are missing the point. The weight transfer starts to happen during the backswing regardless if it's 60%, 70% or anything over 50%. The point is the weight shifting process has already started during the backswing so to say shifting weight is the start of the downswing can't be true as you've not finished the backswing to even begin the downswing if you haven't started weight transfer. Takeaway, pivot, shift then rotate down, creating lag as the backswing reaches full extension.

Crap english... compression needs pressure...what you are talking about is impact. Not a good reference point. Call it shadow compression.
