Since i've taken your advice Russ on this topic(s) of effortless swinging, and performing more on having a more relaxed and smoother tempo (no more than about 80 to 85% TOPS of using full swing power) my consistancy on distance and overall ball striking has improved dramatically. THX Russ!! Much appreciated. 🙏💪

horse dudu. i'm a clean iron hitter, my goal is actually not to destroy the grass, and i'm scratch, sadly life doesn't allow me to play more or i'd enter more tourneys. sales people are the worst. wonder why every club maker comes out with new designs every year, because people are sheep. golf is like the wheel, you can't reinvent it. of course club design has improved, but not enough to justify their insanity tricking people, but they do, the ridiculous prices for golf gear sad, that you people pay to fit in with the crowd. If you hit the ball the same with a $1k club, you're going to hit it the same with a cheap club, if not, you're fooling yourself. i love going to the club, and pull out my salvation army shit set, and beating most of these sheep with their multi $k sets, lol

Most people don't realise either that the closer you can get your hands together as one, the quicker you can swing it, It's why Padraig Harrington does a double overlap on his longer drive swings

Having a bit of a stronger grip has been working quite well for me w/ driver, but w/ irons, a have a tendency to want to pull my shots about 5yrds to the left. I'm wondering if I try to go more neutral to maybe a very slight strong grip if that will bring my accuracy more online?? Thx for the video Russ 👍

One thing I heard, I completely ignored and did anyway. At the driving range, Signs everywhere, DONT HIT THE GUY IN THE CAGE COLLECTING THE BALLS. When he took off to collect the balls. Everybody started aiming for the guy in the cage.

Im 74 years old and started golfing when I was 20 and probably watched 1,000 golf videos . Not one of them talked about the driver hand placement as you just did . Thank you !

Can you do a video to help with hitting the driver low on the face and out the toe. I’m off 5 and can easily shoot my handicap with my irons but driver has went to pot recently 😭

Sounds like you are not very flexible, and are taking good tips for someone who is not flexible and applying them to your students. If I learned anything from having multiple different coaches, it’s if they say something like “I tell all my students this”, you need to find a new coach who knows how to coach the individual.

Hi Russell I’m confused about what to do at after the deliver position I’m caught up on how to deliver the club through impact and not making consistent contact . I’m good from takeaway back to the top and downswing to delivery then this is where I’m confused . Any chance you could explain or if you have a video from delivery through impact I would greatly appreciate it thanks

They say extension beyond impact is a good thing. I am in the closed shoulders early release category, thus limiting extension. Do you consider this an acceptable pattern?

Have not watched yet. Excited to see how my baseball ass can hit a baseball so far going 70-100+mph that moves; but yet, i cant fucking hit a still golf ball off a tee. LETS GET IT.

This is what I've never been able to figure out. Hitting the ball first. I've tried drills, etc. and I just can't seem to crack the code. Then again I play maybe a dozen rounds a year and I guess it's not that big of a deal. Still, it'd be nice to make solid, ball first contact at some point in my life.

I have been interested in grip Thumb length for 30 years . Couples short, short thumbs tend to be with strong left hand and left thumb, weaker left grip,

I like your thinking and would add "keep your butt on the wall" drill to this. That will provide space for the downswing.

This video addressed a severe long term problem of mine being standing up in the backswing and coming off the ball with my head. Try as I might I could never overcome this problem thinking this was a genetic defect in my golf swing. Following your advice of making an upper body turn only (deliberately restraining lower body turn at this juncture) solved both problems for me in an instant. This understanding/insight led to a EUREKA MOMENT for me and which I am eternally grateful!

My swing thought always is to bring the club down and tight....and through....like an iron, as there is the tendency to throw the driver out....and that so often results in a shot that has lost so much loft., as the club loses the low arc as it comes into the ball.

The biggest mistake of amateur golfers is trying to hit up on the driver, I have seen golfers hit long booming drives only to top their next iron shot as they have spent all their time at the range perfecting their driver swing, well on some courses you might only hit driver 6 or 7 times if you have a lot of dog legs or narrow fairways but you are going to hit your irons 30 to 40 times or more for the average golfer, so get out that 7 iron and listen to Russell.
