Commented Fiddler Tuomas Rounakari: ”Lempo is a fiery God of fertility and the song is about the spells designated to Lempo in order to guarantee a success in one’s personal love life. The Finnish mythology is very unique in its approach to sexuality. We do not have spells to improve procreation like most of the cultures do. But the spells to gain more luck in love life or to increase ones stamina are numerous for both men and women. Lempo is also closely related to fire and one could see the hair of Lempo flashing in the red and yellow flames of fire. The song is a prime example of the new KORPIKLAANI sound with a lead guitar like violin solo and more prominent folk arrangements. It takes a step towards progressive rock balancing the folk and metal in a way Jonne has always dreamed it to be.”

That explanation of the concept is a great thing to do for the non-Finnish audience, I hope more people will listen to the serious Korpiklaani, not only the alcoholic songs

As a major in Finnish history/linguistics/archaeology I can attest to the verity of these lyrics...lempo=lämpö=god/spirit of fertility...the nearest equivalent would perhaps be the German/Nordic Freyr. Kiitos, Korpiklaani, että muistutatte ihmisiä kauniista verenperinnöstämme.
It bugs me that Korpiklaani are mostly known even in the metal community as a parody of themselves, catchy songs about drinking and such. I do love those songs but it's these ones, sung in their native language, about traditional Finnish culture and religion and folklore, that the hairs on the back of my neck stand up upon listening. They are astoundingly evocative and amazing, and Noita is one of their best albums in my opinion. The drinking songs are fun, sure, but omg does this stuff move you. It's so underrated

Can you define in which part violin was beautiful? It practically plays the solo in between 4:03-4:24 and rest of the time it is just background for the harmonica. Just wondering why everyone hypes the violin when the harmonica is just brilliance.
MusicVideoMakerPro yes, i absolutely agree with you. Most of the song you hear harmonica and it sounds damn great. I dunno, am i right or not, but every time koriklaani have someone new in the band his instrument sounds mostly. If you remember in Manala there were so many violin solos. And now it seems the same in Noita, but the harmonica is dominating
I think its actually an accordion.
This type of accordion, with the buttons sounds more Finnish. and I wasnt too much of a fan of the accordion in Korven Kuningas. But this sounds beautiful

I recently broke up with my fiancé who was Finnish, I'm English. Through her I discovered Finland and how awesome the culture and environment is. I fell in love with it. Now, I'm unsure as to wether to forget about Finland, I find it unlikely I'd visit again without her and it would seem sensible to move on from the country. On the other hand, Finland stole my dumb English heart and I'm quite unsure of what I'm meant to do. Regardless, korpiklaani will always be an awesome band. Just the 1 am ravings of a slightly damaged 19 year old.
For some reason this song makes me long, for something I lost and for something I've never had... I mean I love it, but it's so nostalgic, I don't even know why. Though this is actually why I love it in the first place.
I was having a hard time trying to put it I to words how this song makes me feel and you just summed it up perfectly. I wonder how such a powerful and personal feeling can be channel through a song???
The chorus is a praise to Lempo's awesome sexuality and also a prayer to get laid. Perhaps you're longing to get laid?

This track turned out better than I expected! It may be a slow Korpiklaani track, but Jonne does something amazing with his vocals, and the violin and accordion fit so well with the guitar like never before! Huge improvement
I find it funny how people complains about Korpiklaani saying "we want change in your music! It's always the samething!" and finally when there is a different kind of song, they complain saying "What is that? I don't like these voices! This song sucks! blablabla!"

Phoenux289 Actually I think this song sounds a lot like back to the root. If the rest of the album sounds like this this is a no brainer to buy for me. In their later records they were too much "Party Metal" for me.

Learning regular finnish is one issue. The second is to suit It to this kind of music. I mean, the lyrics of this song for example are very poetry and "old style". Anyway, I wish a good luck for you. Studying some language is never wasting time.

According to Wikipedia Lempo was often described as female but it's not known for certain. The believes about the spirits varied depending on the time and place. I've read that at some point the spirits and deities weren't thought as physical or humanlike beings and therefore had no gender.
I am a Finnish pagan. Finns rarely used gender pronouns. Goddess in Finnish is a new word.

Weird old words, interesting metaphors, convulated grammar etc. The whole epic was wrote the times every people had their own personal way of using the language; you can almost expect the translations do not give 100% understanding on the whole thing.

You're welcome to try. It's not impossible, you see. I know an american boy who learned to speak Finnish in one year while living with my family as an AFS exchange student. But then, he scored 98% in his SAT tests and he had apparent aptitude for languages...
Send me some email (kolmas@hmamail.com), I might even answer it, from another email as hmamail.com is strictly one-way. Finnish language has been useful when I worked abroad. I could talk whatever I wanted with my Finnish colleagues and have good confidence noone else could understand it. So, I'm not sure I wanna share this secret with anyone. But I'll think about it.
