- I bought this 2011 Cadillac Escalade for only $4,000 but it seems to have cost nearly double that to bring it back to life. It showed up with a seized engine, I replaced it but the first L94 had a rod knock, so I replaced it again. I changed the entire interior but that wasn't exactly straight forward, so today we're finishing that, and fixing all the other little problems that would make it hard to sell.

Me too, thats the side of the channel i prefer even tho i watch majority, i also prefer the repairs flips of everyday cars over the sports but thats me as i have never been into sports or exec cars

07:00am here in prague, czech republic. It will be dark for another hour. Good to see cars back on the channel. But I've grown to like the domestic house stuff too ( the garage build is interesting too, but here in Europe it's not a practical option for us due to land prices. And I guess the whole place will be flipped like the last one, so it's harder to get emotional invested in it). I hope there's more on the smart lighting on the house ... here in Europe that isn't so big a thing, but for me, it's really cool and something I want to investigate ( along with the cameras like on the mini resort ) for my house.

Also: hopefully you never need to do it again, but if you have to take another Autel screen apart, I wonder if that wire spool (the stuff you see used to easily cut through windshield adhesives) would be a easier method to use to unstick the old screen?
Heat gun would have helped with the removal of the glass. Heat it up to 100f to 110f and/or 90% rubbing alcohol

The isopropyl alcohol would have probably been the safer option the frame being plastic?
You don't have to blast the plastic. Set it on low (my heat gun has "low" and "Thailand"). It doesn't take much heat at all for that adhesive. Don't think isopropyl works. There are adhesive solvents but they might also damage plastics. Gentle heat, gentle pressure. Done the stuff on ipads etc and didn't destroy them with the heat.
@@wvcruffler123 Goo Gone probably would have worked well to help remove adhesive residue without damaging the plastic.
Of course, then you have to completely clean the mating surfaces of any Goo Gone residue as part of the prep work for affixing the new digitizer glass.
WOW perseverance pays off on the seats, these engineers and changing all these details, make what appears to be a simple fix taking into a whole new level of complications.

My 2010 had the parking sensor issue. Fix was pretty easy. I carefully compared the standard size to the ESV and like you found a number of floorpan differences. Sold the 2010 and bought by dad's lightly used dad-driven 2014. Best car ever, or close to it. Love the 2007-2014 series Escalades. My later 2016 was nice and more high tech, but the older versions had a better sound and seemed sportier, for a big SUV.

I bought the diamond white twin to your truck. I have replaced or rebuilt almost everything including the engine and transmission. Super reliable and way cheaper than buying a new one. Looks new and rides like new. The heated and cooled seats is the only thing I have not got working.
JR, when removing a digitizer like that apply heat from a heat gun or hair drier to loosen the adhesive. Makes the job so much easier.

Can you program modules with either of the autel?
Well, it’s a good thing that you had extra parking sensors squirreled away; because those sensors brand new (part number 15239247) are on national back order right now (they were used on a TON of GM Trucks and SUVs; and were first introduced the old G car Body platform.) and in an ironic twist it is actually the same sensor that is used in my Buick Lucerne! (Was in a rear end collision in April, and was EXTREMELY lucky that my sensors and harness wasn’t damaged in the accident, or else I would’ve been up Schitt Creek without a paddle!)
That was the slowest flip besides the R8 ever I think.
For removal of the digitizer glass, it would have been helpful to warm up the glass using a heat gun, of course being careful not to scorch or melt the upper housing.
The heat would have helped to loosen up the adhesive fastening the digitizer glass to the housing.
How about the running boards on the escalade?

I found two or three good videos on how to disassemble and reassemble the Autel scanner... So first things first, you should be using a hot air gun to soften the glue to remove the cracked panel. You just made that at ton messier a lot harder than it needed to be LOL.
I’m not sure if I remember correctly but did the power running boards get fixed or did it have non power running boards

oof ive been told to never measure ohms over an airbag because the current that the meter uses to measure resistance could set off the airbag

I bet a heat gun would have helped soften up the tape holding the glass on. It might have been a little fiddly because you don't want to melt the plastic though.

Man Cadillac’s suck to work on, I’ve had to replace the Cue screen twice on my 2015 SRX, have to pull the seat soon as the fold down doesn’t work. The sunroof screen is bunched up, thats a nightmare to fix, the headlights are a nightmare to work on. I’ve replaced both the motor and trans on mine. They may be nice but they are expensive and a pain to fix.

Next time use some heat and the digitizer will peel right off. Hairdryer is good enough, no need for heat gun on high
You could have made removing the digitizer easier, and safer, by using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.

Why didn't you just swap the seat covers from one to the other? Very easy to do, instead of taking them fully apart.
