Not a strike. The ball never went over the plate. It went around the plate. And the catcher caught it in a spot where it looked like it went over the plate
I know this should have been called strike 3, and it ultimately lead to the batter getting an RBI single. I get it is upsetting, but I have no idea what he said to the umpire. I've heard of players and coaches saying really atrocious things to an umpire that probably warranted an ejection. People may not like the rule, but unless they can convince the Playing Rules Committee to change it, this is how it is going to be. Official Baseball Rule 8.02(a): Appeal of Umpire Decisions Any umpire’s decision which involves judgment, such as, but not limited to, whether a batted ball is fair or foul, whether a pitch is a strike or a ball, or whether a runner is safe or out, is final. Rule 8.02(a) Comment: Players leaving their position in the field or on base, or managers or coaches leaving the bench or coaches box, to argue on BALLS AND STRIKES will not be permitted. They should be warned if they start for the plate to protest the call. If they continue, they will be ejected from the game.
Strikes the batter out with a perfectly placed pitch, but umpire is shit and calls it a ball and on the next pitch Sox take the lead. The amount of games impacted by horrendous calls must be enormous.
with all due respect the catcher set up wayyy outside and then has to reach all the way to the inner half of the plate to grab it so from the umps perspective i could see where he was coming from. missed the call but damn that has to be tough to do in real time.
A professional umpire should certainly be able to discern balls and strikes based on where the ball crosses the zone regardless of what the hell the catcher does.....sorry, that argument doesn't hold water.

Aw damn, they threw chipper out too? What are we gonna do with this surplus wood?👀😂😂😂
And btw it is in the MLB rule book that you are not allowed to argue balls and strikes and when u do u get thrown out umps are a part of baseball and we do not need all sorts of computers and technology in it it's simple and that's why it's fun
Players always say something, plus look at the year, I don't think they had instant review at the time.
The strike zone will never get computerized. The fun of the game is the human error.
Bill Hohn had an agenda against the Braves. Only umps worse than he was are cb bucknor and angel hernandez.
Don't forget Joe West.
Bill Hohn was the worst umpire as an old soul person myself. Sometimes these ejections and that whack ass Mario mustache he had in 2009 is fuckin hilarious as shit.
