Now watch the version where they do this live in Rio in front of 40,000 totally psyched Brazilian prog-rock maniacs. Holy smokes
yeahhh
Who sing along with it
Yep….ya gotta do it….it’s unbelievable seriously ❤
this is the answer.
So good, so so good
YYZ is the Airport code for Toronto.
And the opening beat spells Y-Y-Z in Morse code too
Congratulations on discovering the best three man band in history. Over 40 years of magic, 17 albums and over 160 songs to explore. Try any of these next. LaVilla Strangiato, Xanadu, working man live in cleveland, subdivisions, red barchetta, 2112 and on and on. Enjoy your Rush journey.
🇨🇦 If you want to hear the words to this, you will have to react to the live concert in Rio, where the audience is singing along ! 🇨🇦
Geddy Lee sings, plays bass and keyboards ( sometimes all at the same time using foot pedals)
YYZ pronounced YYZED in Canada is the indicator code for the Toronto International Airport. The beginning of the song is Morse Code for YYZ.
Alex Lifeson the guitarist is also a licensed pilot and was flying them back to Toronto when Geddy and Neil heard the indicator code come on and it stuck with them.
When the guys saw YYZ on their luggage they were happy as it meant they were heading home to their families.
Rush has done a number of instrumentals. Their opus is La Villa Strangiato. I would suggest watching the official music video.
YYZ was on the album Moving Pictures and all the characters in this video were based on the pictures on the album cover.
Cheers
Check out the YYZ - Live In Rio version. It's got great energy.
YYZ is the airport code for Toronto, their home town. The guitar player, Alex, is also a pilot, and would sometimes fly all three of them. When getting close to home, they would hear the Morse code for YYZ come over the radio. Neil, being the consummate percussionist, turned the Morse code into the opening rhythm of the song. The very beginning part Neil plays on the crotales (small cymbals) and then played by the guitar and bass, is YYZ in Morse code! The song is supposed to evoke the frantic pace of traveling and living life on the road. The slow half-time part in the middle is when you make it home, have some time to relax with family for a bit, and then, bam! off again. Rush did a number of instrumentals that showcase their talents. Give La Villa Strangiato a try.
Check out, Xanadu, live in Montreal 1981, Best live prog-rock band ever! Only seen RUSH once (Power Windows Tour) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada ! Great reaction video!
if you dig this, check out 'rush best intro ever' from the r30 tour. it will hurt your brain. enjoy:)
Geddy Lee is the bass player/singer/ keyboardist... Alex Lifeson... Guitarist... Neil Peart. drums.
Yep Mamas boys! The Rio version. Geddy vocals, keys bass! They have their own vocals during hook. They really are best Audience!
Geddy Lee plays base and keyboard when required and he's also the singer. Alex Lifeson is the guitarist and of course Neil Peart is the drummer aka the professor.
Great reaction! And thanks for the inspirational words 🤘
YYZ is Toronto's Pearson Airport....
YYZ is an instrumental and I bet you would love la Villa Strato, which is also all instrumental
Take it back a few more years and check out "Closer to The Heart", " Fly By Night" off the Farewell To Kings album
And "Limelight" off of the Moving Pictures album.
Geddy and Alex provided the voices of the police officers at the end of the video; Dirk is Geddy's nickname, Alex's nickname is Lerxst, and Neil's nicknames included Bubba and Pratt. And now, for another instrumental performance with a killer bass line, I'd like to recommend Leave That Thing Alone from the Time Machine Tour. Cheers from Toronto!
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
“Red Barchetta” by Rush is great music and a great story.
IMO, you want to see what they are capable of as a three piece, you need to check out Xanadu (the live version)
remember, 3 man band, incredible sound for 3 guys.
You ever need to get Energized, 'Pumped Up', just pop this one on! 'TERRITORIES' is another one that gets my Mood/Energy up!
I went to this concert moving pictures. 1981. Dallas. Neil the drummer wow.
In the opening Niel is using the symbols to make Morse code for “YYZ”
Alex was joking at the end about YYZ being pronounced "Yizz" 😂, it is Y-Y-Z.
YYZ is actually the call letters that they overheard the pilot speaking as they were landing in a Canadian airport and it was the call letters for that airport that they were going home to so YYZ is an airport call letter for home for them. Just thought you’d wanna know.
YY Z (ZED) is the airport code for Toronto Airport❤🇨🇦
This is nothing but Rush jam session. The van with the sign that said Moving Pictures, is the name of the album.
I think it's like in Die Hard 2. The part where they change the beacon pulse from the planes. They reverse the signal to message them.
Watch live in Rio live RUSH is the best Rush
Rush has a bunch of HUGE hits! The entire Band is chock full of next level Talent, Ive seen them Live twice and I honestly say my all time favorite from Rush is "The Trees"...its a metaphor about the relationship between the USA and Canada! Hint: The National Tree of Canada is the Maple and the National Tree of the USA is the Oak!
That first 40 seconds of the song is Morse Code - this particular one is for the Pearson Airport in Toronto - YYZ is the code for the airport like LAX is for Los Angeles - DFW - Dallas Fort Worth
As the band traveled and toured, there was always something special seeing the YYZ on the bag tags when they were heading home to Toronto.
Lmao! The ending was so funny!! But this is Rush. Greatvfriends making killer tunes. 😮😮😮😊😊
Rush was in Japan on tour. Wandering around b/c of jet lag. Came across a kimono store. Thought they looked cool. Bought a set for each of themselves and wore them on tour. Even an album cover. They laugh about it now, but it was ridiculous
Love your reactions. Love your positivity more.
La Villa Strangiato. The album version.
New sub - hear for the RUSH and more expansion of the journey. The best 3 piece band ever. Best Canadian band. Best Progressive band ever for me (Then YES) #WorkingManLive #SpiritofRadio
Long live RUSH ❤
Thanks for reacting to this. This is a perfect example of instrumental music VS no instruments , just vocals. Totally different. THIS IS MUSIC . I can not think of 1 Hip hop/rap "musician" that can play any musical instrument. Great song.
bro youve got to listen to yyz from exit....stage left.the drum solo by neil leave you speachless
Geddy Lee, the bass player, keyboardist, and vocalist.
Your a cool dude, I really dig your reaction to this instrumental.
YYZ is FIRE !!!!!
So rush is one of the greatest rock bands in history. The singers voice takes a little to get used to. But the fact that he plays the bass and the keys and sings at the same time. Is just plain crazy.
Rewatch the first video you did with him. And you will notice the singer bass player and keyboard player is the same person.
The excellence of natural talent and delivery…..
Getty Lee it’s spelled GEDDY Getty Lee plays, bass keyboards, piano synthesizers, and he sings. These men are geniuses you gotta you gotta watch the documentaries beyond the lighted stage is my first recommendation. Enjoy my friend. Enjoy.
Yyz is Toronto international airport
Only 3 dudes making some insanely good music
Professor on drums, Alex on guitar an Geddy Lee bass, keyboards, bass pedals and vocals
watch YYZ live in RIOOOOOOOOOOO.....you're missing out
If you wanna hear the professor do some great drumming listen to bore the Snowdog from the flyby night album TOR the Snow dog you love it
I hope your day is going good too
By the way, loving your reaction those are my guys
Time for 2112 my man 👍👊😎🇨🇦
There's a live version of YYZ that includes one of the Professors signature drum solos when they were in their absolute prime!czcams.com/video/2E85dkOYhtQ/video.htmlsi=-jZoi9gA6S4gAxmz

You need to see la villa strangiato live from the early and the later days.

Y, Y, Z (Zed), they are Canadian.
The video is a distraction...RUSH is tastiest live...Get blown away by Working Man live in Cleveland - it's 🔥🔥🔥 Here's a link for your convenience: czcams.com/video/uJz049s4Pbg/video.html
Subbing to follow you down the rabbit hole. I've been a RUSH fan for 40+ years, seen them live countless times and I get really excited when young folks appreciate their music.
MALIGNANT NARCISSIM/DE SLAGWERKER please❤🇨🇦
If you're digging the cartoon you will be way more enthralled with the live version, preferably the one from Rio.
2112 temple of s
Got to react to Spirit of the radio… bro. Thank me later 😎
Well, you’re gonna need a lot of time for at least side a of the 2112 album has to be listened to in one sitting it’s one damn song with a lot of movements🎉😂❤
Not my favorite song of theirs, eventhough I used to play this on guitar. I do like the story of the airport code though, and the Rio version is off the hook. If you want to hear the professor rock out, my favorites are probably Limelight on this album and Subdivisions on Signals.
You just need to listen to the lyrics! LOL
Everywhere but America it is pronouced Y-Y-Zed.
No idea what the heck the video is about. I actually hate the vid versions because the Rush band didn;t make them.
The professor's finest in my opinion was on 2112. You can't know Rush if you don;t geek out on 2112. No cartoon vid tho. Listen the way we heard it in 1976. That thang went platinum from kids in college dorms and band rooms. There was no radio play for a 20 minute song. The thing went platinum because we were walking by and said "WTF WAS THAT?!??!?????"
Do Not listen to "La Villa strangiato". You're not ready!!!!
I don't mind REACTORS stopping/pausing or talking at all. But you gotta be careful with RUSH. If you TALK, it's likely you'll miss the NEXT great moment!
