La Villa Strangiato ...you not ready
nobody is ready for that. Heck, even Rush had a heck of a time making that song.
My all time favorite RUSH song. And thats saying something. I hear new things everytime i listen.
LMAO!
yeah, but he needs to keep his brain is in skull, b/c that is insane
Truth
100,000 people singing to an instrumental song. Played by a 3 piece orchestra.
"You can´t sing along an instrumental song!"
Rio crowd:
"Hold my Caipirinha..."
Rush is probably the only band that had a LEAD guitar, LEAD bass, and Lead drums... Three virtuoso's in ONE band.
CREAM.
@@Jzoned Cream didn't have the stamina or impact of Rush though, and I wouldn't compare Jack Bruce to Geddy...
No matter how many times I watch this performance, that crowd singing along to an instrumental never fails to make me smile.
I'm Canadian, and I've been to Rio. While at the hotel, a waiter asked where we were from and when we said Canada, he immediately starting singing Rush songs, haha! Brazilian Rush fans are second only to Canadian Rush fans, they love those Toronto boys just as much as we do!
Some isso a: Maracanã
The Professor... Guy went from selling farm machinery parts, to being one of the BEST drummers/song writers of ALL time.
They'd never played in Brazil before 2003 as they had no idea how popular they are there. The crowd were amazing & I think they were so pleased that Rush had come to play there for the 1st time that they were letting off all the steam from almost 30 years of never having seen them. It was the perfect storm of band & audience.
2002.
👍🏻
And you know if there's an instrumental they're bringing the national team soccer chant
@@jedsall2010 This is Maracanã
i LOVE that the entire audience is singing along with a song with NO LYRICS
YYZ is airport code for Toronto
Drumline is YYZ in Morse code.
Neat stuff.
65k people jumping up and down, while you play an instrumental (making up their own voices, singing to it) is INSANE
65k was in São Paulo (I was there). Rio's audience was 45k.
🇬🇺🌴 The ONLY INSTRUMENTAL ever sang by an audience 🔥🍒🔥🍒
"He threw it in the air!" Now you need to watch Xanadu (Live) from 1981 and count how many times he does that as well as marvel at his drum kit.
Man you got to watch the video Xanadu from exit stage left awesome live performance from 1981
Geddy playing bass, singing & playing the keys with foot pedals
Not only is Geddy on a 4 string, he just plugs in to the stadium PA. No tricks. That is why he can have washers and dryers behind him.
Wanna really lose your mind?
Xanadu live 1981 Montreal or working man live 2011 Cleveland
2 of the craziest live performances you will ever see my friend
Specially Xanadu… pay attention to all the sounds these “3” musicians create… specially the professor 🙌
One of the best live performances ever!
Can't believe you didn't twig to the fact that the crowd was singing even without lyrics. THAT'S what's amazing to me.
Just do them all! It's a fun ride! haha ( and I'll watch EVERY ONE OF THEM!)
This is what makes Rush one of the greatest live bands ever They can pull off three hours of the greatest original music with varity
There's no words but the crowd is still singing along.
Geddy always uses a 4 string!! He says he’s tried 5, but it has 1 string too many!! Lol! Be well and God bless… from Texas!!
If you want to see another amazing crowd at a Rush gig, check out the video of Rush performing "Spirit Of Radio" live in Toronto in 2003 in front of 500,000 fans on a sunny August afternoon. It's one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen.
So, you want to hear everything else? Wonderful. They gave us 19 studio and 12 live albums, so we might be together for e while!
Rio crowd gets the best audience ever award. You need to watch The Spirit of Radio live from the Sars concert from 2003. Multi artist event but the crowd is HUGE!!!
GREAT to see a RUSH "newbie" really getting into it and enjoying. I started listening to them around 1979 and I still LOVE to listen to their stuff!
You are NAILING IT!! You're digging RUSH, and even doing Studio version first, THEN the Live version. - BEST way to do it!!
Three guys I their 50s can still pull off a three hour show
Freewill, Exit Stage Left - Alex's solo is pure 🔥🔥🔥
La Villa Strangiato. I can’t wait for this reaction. You just don’t know what how much more you have to see and hear. I love it!! Makes me feel like it’s new to me all over again (almost).
I have seen Rush 32 times, beginning in 1980 at their Permanent Waves tour. I’ve seen Neil (The Professor) toss his sticks up in the air over 20 foot hight, the sticks just miss hitting the light rigging, and he never once missed catching the stick, usually just seconds before he needs to hit a crash cymbal. I have never seen any other drummer toss sticks that high in the air.
It’s just amazing.to see Geddy shred the bass, sing and play keyboards with his feet and never miss a lick on any of it. The man is a freak of nature. Usually when someone is the best at doing something, it is just that one thing, not then juggling two other htings at the same time?
I’m sorry that all of you younger music lovers will never get to see this group live, because it was an expirence like no other,
In honor of your shirt - Rush - Marathon
most of the time this band is your favorite band's, favorite band . they also didn't call them the three wise men for nothing .
You really should check out the video for Rush's song "Leave That Thing Alone", but make sure you're watching the one filmed Live in Cleveland. Not only does Neil Peart totally go to town on the drums, but Geddy Lee basically treats the bass like it's a lead guitar.
3 virtuosos on top of their game !
Woo! That was awesome! I can tell you that Neil Peart, back in the day, used to be a MAD MAN when it came to throwing the stick way up in the air! His stick throw was nothing on this video compared to what he used to do back in the 80's! On songs like "Red Barchetta" and "Witch Hunt" (which you can see on the Grace Under Pressure Tour video from 1984), he throws that thing sky high and then catches it, just before going back into playing! The guy was BOSS! So much fun. You should check out the song "Limelight" from the same album as Tom Sawyer! It's a great song!
You don’t see or hear the incredible level of professional musicianship today that the 70’s bands had back in the day. I greatly enjoy watching the looks of amazement, shock and awe on the faces of the younger generations when they hear the 70’s bands and artists.
Rush is my favorite band and there are plenty of bands right now that are worthy of listening to and following who are as good as, and sometimes better, than most of the 70's artists/bands. They are out there, you just have to find them.
70s and the 80s was the best of times
I will always comment until you do it: "Xanadu" The exit stage left live performance. If you really want to see what they can do as a three piece.
Xanadu live in Montreal 1981. Incredible.
🤗 Yippie! 🤩 YYZ in Rio! Lets Go! 🥰🐰
Thanks for this. Rush is best experienced live IMO. Only got to see them 5 times live, but they killed it every time.
Max Webster "Battle scar"
...now, do everyone a favour and explain why...😎
Better to listen and find out.
Yeah! It’s crazy right?! I saw them live 4 times, first in 78-79, last was R40 tour and my adult sons went….they about lost it when this started up❤️
Love love love this entire album. And they played in the rain. And to hear the crowd put lyrics to an instrumental, that’s priceless.
I love to see a new fan, who really gets it. The best power trio, who ever existed. I saw them 17 times live, and really wish I saw them more.
I want to recommend four other Rush instrumentals: ' Where's My Thing,' 'Leave That Thing Alone,' 'The Main Monkey Business', and 'Malignant Narcissism'
Yeah the crowd. Canadian Band, in Brazil. They sold out stadiums around the world for 40 years. You have some tunes to listen to.
Spirit of Radio will always be my favorite Rush song.
I appreciate your message brother. God bless. Rushmania 4ever
Neil Peart (RIP) was given the nickname "The Professor" not because he taught so many young drummers how to do it. He was given that nickname because he resembled Russell Johnson, the Professor from "Gilligan's Island".
So I have seen Rush live and they are always amazing. You know you’re great when the crowd is singing to a song with no lyrics. Only other time I have ever heard that was with Metallica. When they play Creeping death, the crowd sings the guitar part. Such an amazing feeling.
RIO crowds do similar chants during football matches.
woo hoo .. thanks for the POSITIVITY..... bro.. how the whole crowd singing an instrumental... badass...
The Drummer who inspired the Professor was a drummer from the jazz/big band era "Buddy Rich". He has drum solos on U-tube. Find one to see what inspired Neil. Also U being into RAP, U should watch "Rapture" by Blonde. It was the 1st RAP song played on MTV on January 31, 1981. It was also the 1st song played in MTV's rotation format, and I believe the 1st RAP song to reach #1.
You really need to check out all there live albums and videos, all of them are a masterpiece, tis is the one band that thrives on there live music all the time.
La Villa Strangiato. They have a live performance from the 70s and from the 2000s. They’re old men in this video and the drum solo video. They just kept getting better. Alex had arthritis in his fingers he had to deal with but he never missed a note. Your reaction made me happy
check out Rush - La Villa Strangiato at Pinkpop 1979 and then listen to rush la villa strangiato time machine - live in cleveland I believe done in 2011 many years later and a bit different style but Neil never misses a beat Alex and Getty are equality amazing!!! The ability to play that good and precise after over 30 years is jaw dropping
Banger performance! 🔥🔥🔥
Next
Xanadu from Exit Stage Left
An amazing performance of a masterpiece!
Too soon. You're gonna kill him, Debbie! 😅
@@mdu2112 👍🤣
Need to watch Xanadu live exit stage left show
Wait till you see La Villa Strangiato from Live in Rio. KILLER!!! The crowd singing a instrumental and Alex doing his comedy bit in it...too great. Then you see Neil going UP on the transition to make it work...who does that? Neil that is who. Also Leave that thing alone, Geddy killing it on the bass. this whole concert was on point. great reaction. keep it up.
YYZ is the Airport Code for Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Ontario Canada.
I saw Rush open for Spinal Tap in 1977 at the Loch Less Festival. Rush was great and made it worth the money I paid. Then Spibal Tap’s pyrotechnics set the stage on fire, and the rest of the show was cancelled.
I was there. Maracanã, Rio 2022. Amazing.
Congrats on finding Rush, @JayTDeion! Proud to have you in the fan club!
You should check out their induction into the rock and roll hall of fame.
@shonastewart7943 Oh…blah blah blah😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
Proof one CAN sing along to an instrumental!!
I just watched 2112/Limelight from the same show and the crowd was even more involved in that if you can believe it
Its Rio De Janeiro. Those people are CRAZY!
Great reaction AS ALWAYS!!! You obviously appreciate artistical musicianship. You are now officially down the RUSH rabbit hole.
I would suggest the songs below (LIVE versions) to add to your Rush journey and reactions. All of these are absolutely fire!!! Especially all of the LIVE instrumentals with Geddy’s Bass, Alex’s Guitar, and Neil’s percussive artistry.
- La Villa Strangiato - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental - custom "carnival" intro) - original was 1978. Pure musicianship!!! UNMATCHED - best instrumental EVER.
- Working Man... Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (original studio version was in 1974)...The pure sight and performance of three men in their upper 50's take control of the stage and perform and play like they were in their 20's.
- Xanadu...Live version 1981 Exit Stage Left tour...will leave you speechless from pure musicianship...original was 1977.
- Best Intro Ever - Live version (R30 tour 2004) - various riffs from their 1970's songs leading into Spirit of Radio - original was 1980
- Freewill... Live from Snakes and Arrows Tour 2007 - original was 1980
- Leave that Thing Alone - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental) - original was 1993
If there's one song that shows off each band member's individual talents, it's YYZ. You've got the great bass bits, the rolling toms, and that beautiful fluid guitar solo. And it doesn't even have any vocals...
You should react to Xanadu live 1981 in Montreal next, greatest live performance oat
working man is one of my favs.. i have that to wake me up to go to work every morning.. it's long so you get some snooze too
Closer to the Heart Live 1997 has an amazing jam outro.
Dude, I REALLY like how you promote Gratitude and striving to be better everyday, keep that up! NOW, EXCELLENT reaction! You absolutely MUST react to " Xanadu ", Live "Exit Stage Left" 1981!!!!! IT. WILL. BLOW. YOUR. MIND.!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!..
Best tone in all of bass history

The fact that the crowd was singing along with an instrumental track is what shows me their love of the song.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He threw the stick in the air.!!!! Omg how he do dat? Hard to believe. 😂😂😂😂
Check out Leave That Thing Alone. OFF THE CHAIN SICK!
Thankyou Jay, great work man, cheers.
Xanadu by rush live is a masterpiece of musicianship
Hey my young Friend , Check-out Xanadu (Live in Montreal 1981) Only got to see RUSH live once,(Power Windows Tour) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada! RIP The Professor Neal Peart! Best live Rock band ever!!😀💔👍👍👌✌
Was that when there was a public demonstration chanting "We want RUSH"? ❤🇨🇦
@@mdu2112 Yes, Q104 had a potition RUSH TO HALIFAX ,Been 20+ years since the played here! Great Concert!!
He was known for the stick throws. He caught it most of the time. Most. I can say with almost 100% certainty he missed this one, i.e. the quick cut away. But hey, no one's perfect lol
glad you your liking rush. try 2112 temple of Syrinx live in Frankfurt. one of my favorite bands growing up.
For a change of pace, try Mission live or The Big Money live. 🎉
😂 Now you HAVE to do 'Working Man Live in Cleveland'! 🤗 I like watching your head explode! 🥰🐰
Watch any futebol match in Rio and you will see the enthusiasm for chanting in large groups. They were, in fact, singing along with the chorus without words altogether. Nice take. Plenty more Rush to explore.
Just make sure you pull the lyrics up, at least for yourself. The lyrics are printed inside the album. So you put your headphones on, drop the needle on the record and read poetry set to music. It's opera really.
Love what you do. Keep it up!
Why not take a poll for which rush song next to encourage engagement?
NOT the best Rush song, or show, but the next step in the journey of Rush.
A: Spirit of radio
B: Xanadu
C: Red Barchetta
D: ???
Wait til he gets to 2112😂😂😂❤❤your reactions. Thanks.
Definitely need to hear Spirt or Radio next
Check out "Losing It" off the album Signals (which followed Moving Pictures). Love to you Brotherman!
Your reaction was glorious!!!
Check out a band called King Crimson. Their drummer Bill Bruford is a monster. Start with the Discipline album and go from there.
Pride 0 Canada 🇨🇦
You hooked now man.. ain't a bad thing either!
Check out Freewill live and first side of 2112 (a Masterpiece)
Will watch all your Rush reactions.... Liked and subscribed.... Prayers up Brother ❤️🙏
Lla Villa Strangiato......same show
Fam you missed an amazing live experience.
Rush has a lot of jam tunes like this. Check out La Villa Strangiato and leave that thing alone.
Spirit of the Radio - SARS Concert. 450,000 people.
Vital Signs and from live in Rio, La Villa Strangiato, someone else said it but get ready.
