  • In June 2013, a married father of three was working on a friends car in his driveway, when he was shot dead in cold blood.
    It was a 10am in the morning, in the middle of a residential street. There were no suspects and no witnesses, and police were at a loss as to who would want to kill Richard Arenas…

    He didn't even know who he was shooting, but based on the shooting of the man that was staring at him at the gas station, it doesn't sound like he really needed a reason to shoot someone. What a dangerous man. I'm glad he's behind bars.

      This is Providence RI, it's a small capital city with it's fair share of senseless crime. I grew up there and can tell you plenty of horror stories that happened there. One was an execution of two elder people who asked for directions in Providence at a gas station. The 4 teens involved, one actually went to a prep high school with my childhood friend. I was probably 18-19 at the time, it was summer. They were kidnapped and brought to a wooded area 5 blocks from my house across city lines and executed. That wooded area was a place I used to ride my bike at all the time as a teenager. Was there one night with a bunch of friends, enjoying the summer breeze, and the cops said to us "you don't watch the news". And they told us all that happened there. They camped out there just to make sure no one goes there since 3 homicides took place there in 2 weeks. One involving SA on a corpse.
      On my way to a doctors appointment as I exited my neighborhood to go on the main road, I saw police rushing to remove a dead body, shot in the head while leaving a store. School was about to be let out and the school was right next door to the store. So they were in panic mode.
      "No one stepped forward to help the police after a 12-year-old girl was murdered and three women were wounded last month during a party at the Hartford Park housing project on the night before". I grew up near here, 3 blocks away to be exact. I was at a friends house who's second story porch had an overlook right to the projects. That night, we were all on the porch drinking and we heard shots fired. Normal during warm June nights. Come to find out the next day, someone died from it. Turf war and the gang members opened fire at who ever they saw, which happened to be 4 females.
      It's been relatively calm until lockdown in Providence, but it has it's fair share of senseless crime, like the gang shootout that injured 9 people that made national news, or the laundromat argument that lead to the stabbing death, which both incidents happened at the other place I used to live. It's why I packed up, bought a home in a city that saw 4 homicides in 16 years. Going on 5 years since it's last homicide. Don't even need to lock my doors.

      @DroneStrike1776 Před rokem +2

      @@loveforeignaccents Well I lived in Providence for a long time. It could be a random target, just like how he shot the guy pumping air. But that section were it all happened is high in crime. Where he was seen walking his dog is the Manton projects, Leah St is 2 blocks away from there. I used to take Leah St. all the time to get to Chalkstone. It's nestled between Chalkstone and Manton and I used to play ball there afterschool with my friends. And on the other side of the river is Hartford projects, commonly known has Hartford Park and I grew up around that area and I can tell you that the entire area had serious feuds. It doesn't take much for a mistaken identity when a bunch of broken teens are high on drugs. I almost fell victim before, a car followed me home because I had the same car as someone else. I actually knew the dude who followed me home, he went to school with me and thought I was someone else. He was looking for payback. An old high school buddy, but went a little crazy after high school. His car was shot and the car seen was one like mine. I was followed again dropping off a friend, but I guess we weren't who they were looking for after they slowed down and saw us and sped off. Let it be known, I'm not in any gangs, but it's just how a crime filled city work. There's always some senseless crap and in certain neighborhoods, you have to see if anyone's following you or pay attention to who's walking by. Anyways, I'm a lot older now so I moved out of that once nice city to a small peaceful town. Don't need to worry about violence here until I go to Providence to visit friends or do some shopping.

So to say that most true crime channels copy each other's materials and only covers the known cases is quite an exaggeration. Most true crime channels know that their subscribers want unique content and they don't get that by making videos with various approaches to the Chris Watts case. So weird, before judier turned to them and said he knew what a broken home feels like, I had the strange sensation that the men he shot reminded him of a father who abandoned him 🤔 Not to mention in this case, of such a loving family and community man, Judier wanted to destroy in someone else’s life what was destroyed in his💔 I feel so sorry for the beautiful family and community that has to live through this. Richard Arenas sounded like a good one.😢

With so much detail and so much passion. Thank u for having this channel. It’s by far my fav crime channel. So sad that Richards life was taken by this monster. I say monster cause only a monster could take another life the way he did. Rip Richard. May ur family find peace in all this. Please everyone tell ur luved ones u luv em everyday. Don’t waste a minute. Cause u just never know when it will be the last time u talk to r see them. God bless everyone and much luv. Spread luv not violence. Please.

    You sound a little sick today....i hope you are feeling better soon, thanks to both you and your sister for all the excellent stories and all the hard work you both put in.
    I can not believe he actually said he knows what a broken home feels like.....WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL
    Why say this, makes no sense to me, the Arenas family DIDNT know what this felt like and DIDNT need to, total oxymoron of a comment.
    I do agree that Richard's death was a case of mistaken identity it seems like the only logical answer.
    What an absolute waste, the world needs more Richard's not less. Senseless
    R.I.P Richard, it is very clear that you will not be forgotten but will be sorely missed by many.

      @Chrisyt272 Před rokem +4

      I know, right? “I know what a broken home feels like.” What the hell is that supposed to mean? Having a parent/family member leave, is not the same as having a parent/ family member murdered. He took their family member away from them, he didn’t voluntarily leave. Such a messed up response to a grieving family.

  • @samsamcupcakes6476
    @samsamcupcakes6476 Před rokem +8

    I don't really believe the mistaken identity hypothesis...
    But if it is so, at least, Richard saved somebody...
    The guy, at such an early age, shoots for no reason... So maybe he did know who Richard was and maybe he had encountered him before...
    He did come to get him.
    Another hypothesis would be that the first time he went to check out something.
    Maybe he saw the car or something. And then he came back with his gun...

    Sad story as far as the victim and his family he left behind, but these sentences are a joke. Life & 20 = possibility of parole after 20.... shouldn't be!!! And I don't think this thug had any intended target. I think he was a loser, with a rage problem, and had nothing else to do... just wanted to act all gangster. Pathetic!

    I just don't know how such a young man can have so little guidance up to that point in his life where he is willing to pull out a gun and shoot someone, for no other reason than he happened to be carrying a gun that day. To have so little empathy for people. I believe those are the ones who can't be helped, those who lack empathy.

    I think victim impact statements should be physical, not verbal. Give the family member and the defendant a pair of boxing gloves and let them go at it for 3 minutes. The only stipulation is the defendant has to remain handcuffed. Who would object?
