  • In today's video essay, we discuss the potential 'Breaking Bad' and Better Call Saul' spin offs that people won't stop talking about! I made a video about a potential Gus prequel, which you can watch here:
After that video came out, I realised that people were asking for a lot more than just a Gus prequel. So I decided to Rank and discuss all of these other potential Breaking Bad Spin offs.

Edit 2: Walt Jr get's 9.7 million, not 900k. My bad lol
Edit: I think I should add that I'm also bias (who isn't?) My criteria here is heavily based on the question, 'will there be character development?' if the answer was no, then I was already turned off from the ideas. I respect everyone's opinions, these vids wouldn't be possible without them!

Imo Walt Jr is the most viable choice, the series ends and he has a ton of baggage. Imagine if he grows up trying to emulate Hank and become a DEA agent or detective. The series doesn't really establish how intelligent he is because he just acts like a normal kid aside from the cerebral palsy, but if he is as intelligent as Walt then he could have a super compelling dynamic trying to be taken seriously as a disabled person. Also it keeps the identity motif because like Saul and Heisenberg he calls himself Flynn Lambert (or even Flynn Schrader) but he used to be Walter White. Also he's got like millions of dollars that he probably knows is drug money so that's cool.

The hank thing you mentioned about that kind of racist line. So vince never intended hank to have a charater arc. Everyone mentions the fact jesse was going to die in episode 9 originally but most of breaking bads best charaters were almost not in the shoe. Jesse originally would die season 1. Gus was meant to be a one episode charater. Walt would outgrow saul and mike was a charater created because odenkirk wasn't on set. Hank was just originally a foil to walts masculinity he was a show off tough guy even if he was short he was just kind of intended to be doughy but not evil and the idea of when he called emillio a... yknow. Was hank has been a dea agent for some time that he has seen criminals on the street that are Mexican so its developed not necessarily racism but biases. So to awnser if that was intentional yes it was hank was originally just a douch.
Breaking bad had a lot of organic writing and it's not like they accidentally made a good show its just they through trial and error behind the scenes and seeing what works and what doesnt the show runners let things write organically so they realized Aron Paul was to good of an actor to kill in season 2 post writters strikd although arron did almost die on set durring season 2 so that would of been an oopsie. Mike was just sauls private investigator but they saw potential. Gus was just a quick fix for walt durring season 2. Dean Norris played the charater vince intended perfectly vince saw he could do more than that because Dean had a lot more going on seeing he was a more complicated person
That's why tucos death was important because for the most part he acts like criminals are humans even if they are evil and even though he may not act like he realizes this he is a charater who emotionally covers up his own pain and problems.
Tdlr; yes the emilio line you are talking about was meant to be kind of racist because it was before vince made hank a more complicated charater
Breaking bad was a show that had a lot of organic writting seeing what works and what didn't

    • @mechadoggy
      @mechadoggy Před rokem +750

Minerals would basically be an alternate universe story where, after Uncle Jack’s gang drives away with Jesse as their new slave, Hank is able to rise from the grave because the natural healing crystals in the soil were able to restore Hank’s broken body due to his devotion to minerals. The minerals in the soil use vibrations to help Hank track down Uncle Jack’s compound and avenge Gomez’s death (and rescue Jesse too). Hank charges in, guns blazing, and even uses earth-bending powers. After rescuing Jesse, Hank takes him under his wing and mentors Jesse so he can help solve cases for the DEA, kinda like Frank Abagnale in Catch Me If You Can. Eventually, Jesse moves to Alaska, not because to start over a new life or whatever per se, but because the DEA relocates Jesse there on a secret undercover mission to help bust drug rings up in Alaska. (Considering Alaska’s proximity to Russia, we can even pretend that some Russian mobsters are involved too.)

The Salamanca idea sounds like the best idea for a spin-off because, when you think about it, almost all major plot points go back to that family: Gustavo's revenge arc, Walt breaking into the game through Tuco, The "Twin Reapers" (as I call them) going after Walt and Hank, Lalo's feud with Gus and Saul. The man who gave birth to this family of menaces is Hector Salamanca. Lakota, Tuco, the Twins, it all goes back to Hector. Going back to his start in the drug game, exploring his development, and how he influenced his family could work, if done right. Wouldn't beat Breaking Bad, but I think it would be interesting to see.

I think a Salamanca show would be fantastic. I also think it would very much be like Narcos. Hector should not be in the drug game at the start of the show, neither would his brothers or sister(s) (he obviously had to have siblings for the twins and lalo/tuco to exist).
It's the best option to have it be centered around those siblings and for Hector to just be living his life (whatever it was) until his siblings broke bad and then he got involved. He really does love his family and the show really has to nail that point.

Ikr? Honestly, I’d be happy enough if Aaron Paul would just post a vlog series of himself, his real wife Lauren, and his real kids up in their Idaho home while they pretend that they’re Jesse Pinkman and his new family. Their Idaho home looks rustic enough to look like it’s in Alaska, especially once winter comes and brings snow around. We can just assume that Jesse goes back and finds Uncle Jack’s money somehow so that he’s filthy rich enough to afford such a spacious mansion. Boom! Happy endings all around. (I wonder if Aaron Paul’s parents would be willing to play Jesse’s parents.)

    • @mechadoggy
      @mechadoggy Před rokem +32

What I would prefer though is a whole new series (or even mini-series) about Jesse covering various plotlines.
First of all, there is obviously the intense psychological turmoil that Jesse has to face within himself. Hopefully, he’ll find someone whom he can trust and open up to so that he will finally heal from all his past trauma. (That actually happens in this Breaking Bad fanfic called The Last Frontier where Jesse goes to a bar in Alaska and meets this redheaded woman who introduces him to everyone around town.)
Plus, there can still be drug rings around Alaska. Jesse very likely would never be willing to get involved with them himself but could potentially get caught up with them, especially if there’s a rescue plot involved with one of Jesse’s loved ones. (That happens in this fanfic called Alaska by Liym Enello which is about Jesse falling in love with this blonde woman who gets caught up with the local drug ring, so Jesse has to go rescue her from her kidnappers.)
There’s also the matter of Walt Jr or Skyler or even Marie wanting to track down Jesse and get more details about Walt’s and Hank’s deaths so as to get more closure.
Jesse’s brother Jake can go potentially track down Jesse since he kinda looks up to him.
Finally, I always wondered if Jesse could adopt the redheaded Peekaboo boy out of the foster care system and raise him (or at least marry a woman who’s willing to adopt that boy, if there are too many legal hurdles for Jesse to adopt).
Admittedly, this proposed sequel series would likely have a markedly different tone than that of Breaking Bad, but that’s okay. If anything, maybe they can put these ideas into a book, allowing for slower pacing, instead of some action-packed TV series. (Plus, writing a book would be much cheaper and less of a commitment than producing a whole TV series. There would also be zero issues of this or that actor being too old to play this or that character. All you need is a tasteful arrangement of photos of the actors to serve as your character sheet for the reader.)

@@JustKhari “any new content i feel would have to be wayy in the future” That’s fine. We can follow Jesse’s adventures up in Alaska with the ideas I mentioned in a previous comment. Can you give me your thoughts on them?
“my problem… is everyone looks much older” That’s a very valid point. Any new content doesn’t have to be in a TV format though but can exist as a comic/manga, anime, audiobook, regular book, or even a video game. Here’s my proposal for a GTA-style Breaking Bad video game that re-imagines some stuff:
Basically, you play as Jesse working for Gus’s meth operation doing missions and working with various possible mentors.
Combo, Badger, and Pete can all give you various missions with selling meth or dealing with the street-side in general. (One of them involves tracking down Combo’s killer and avenging his death. Another will be tracking down the couple who robbed Pete, basically the plot to Peekaboo.)
As Gus’s head of security, Mike is there to give you security tips, firearms training, and some bounty related missions that can unlock access to different kinds of guns and gun upgrades. On some missions, you and Mike team up together to take down a whole cartel in a certain building as a raid.
As one of Gus’s chemists, Gale has you retrieve/steal certain reagents and do other chemistry-related missions as well as being in charge of this organic chemistry simulator mini-game which can unlock access to recipes to crafting certain health items. Gale can also give you research-related missions where you have to steal documents/schematics (or hack some place to get them) so that you don’t just make meth but can expand Gus’s product line to include ecstasy, LSD, heroin, fentanyl, PCP, steroids, or even aphrodisiacs to help maximize Gus’s profits.

Honestly I think a sequel show about Walts family would work much better from the perspective of Holly. She never got to meet her father, or see the consequences the consequences of his actions, thus she could be more sympathetic towards the father figure she never got to have, instead blaming her depressive mother. This would mean it makes much more sense for her to enter her fathers trade in some manner (although the drug trade probably doesn’t take too kindly to strong female protagonists).
Update if anyone gives a shit: I’ve been thinking about this over the past…. Year (I’m odd) and I think examining a mythologisation of Heisenburg and of greatness of decency would be interesting. Perhaps Hollys husband is just as much of a main character, one who has felt weak, and finds strength through a growing infatuation with the legend of Heisenburg. He may end up becoming so obsessed he has to find out everything he can - he finds Saul or Jesse, he entirely estranges himself and holly from the rest of the White family. Heisenburg represents the will to take control. He and holly are both (in different ways) trying to become Walter, and neither know that this figure they are replicating never really existed. (Also if he were to walk into a hat store in season 2 and then in the last season we saw him unboxing and putting on the HB hat, idk that would just be a cool da service moment)

Three ten episode seasons, each one focuses on a different era of the Salamanca family.
Part 1: Rise of the Salamanca
Basically the story that you set up in the video. An older man is trying to raise his grandson Hector after he lost his son in the war.
    Part 2: The Three Dons
A season showing us the creation of the cartel and how Eladio,Bolsa and Hector got together. Maybe we get some elaboration on the Santiago incident that Lalo mentioned in S4 and Gustavo Fring's real identity
Part 3: Lalo,Tuco and the twins
Finally, a story that focuses on the Salamanca family at their peak. We get some fanservice moments like seeing Hector and a younger Lalo burning the hotel. It culminates in the four nephews of Hector single-handedly eliminating a whole rival gang by themselves and gaining their respects: Lalo becomes a don,Tuco gets put in charge of the operation in ABQ and the twins become the cartel's top henchmen.
I hope y'all like my dumb ideas lol.

If there was a Walter Jr. spin-off, I’d imagine that he would use the money that Walter left him to help his mom out. But the show would begin while he is in adulthood as a DEA Rookie. Inspired by his Uncle Hank and fueled by his hatred for his father, wouldn’t be hard to imagine he also used the money to get through cop college or whatever. An imitation of the Blue Sky meth is back and he is appointed as the Lead Investigator. He’s forced into deep cover and gets intel from people who are still alive from Breaking Bad. Maybe he meets Saul again or characters like Huell, Skinny Pete, Badger, and maybe even the children that Gus mentioned he had since they would be teens at this point. 4 Seasons 10 eps each. We could even get an episode Dedicated to Marie Skyler and Holly and see where they are at. An episode about Flynn’s mental state. Being that deep into cover and helping men like his father would have a toll on his mental health. Maybe that causes him to understand what his father was doing like you said in the video an eventually we could get a scene where he’s on Walt’s grave, forgiving him. Would a prequel of Gus not be the next logical spinoff?? I feel like we were told or shown enough where there's some tangible stories to base your plot around, but enough mystery to play around with and give us answers. It could start at why he left the army. Giving us some flashbacks when he was a kid that explains why he is the way he is. Mostly focusing on giving context as to why he initially wanted to get into the drug business. They can show how Los Pollos Hermanos comes to be. Really building up the relationship between him and his partner. They never come out and say he's homosexual or that they were intimate, but doing some "love of his life" storyline would give context as to why he chose to stay single at his age. Could have the halfway point of the series building up to showing the scene at Don Eladio's where he is killed. Showing the effect that moment changes him from a half way decent person to a complete psychopath hell bent on revenge, that we can further sympathize with. After that it could show how he eventually gets into working with the cartel, since Eladio originally told him to "stick with chicken" and he would be dead too but they know who he is. Then showing the power struggle he has with the Salamanca's that make them hate each other and how they eventually makes his way into America. Could bounce back and forth giving more context to everyone we know in the cartel until you meet them in Better Call Saul. Obviously you probably can't use the same actors which would suck, but I'm sure it would have people's interest regardless.

So for the salamanca show, i think it would be interesting if instead of lall or hector as the main character, we'd have hector's son, who would initially start off as a cartel hitman but would eventually "break good" and either get killed or run away, forced to leave his son behond. But either way, he'd be disowned and completely forgotten by his family. This would give us a nice change from the other shows, as instead of a likeable protagonist slowly becoming more evil, we'd have a protagonist redeeming himself. Maybe, if it were to be longer, Walt Jr. decides to join the DEA. “I would rather take gallons of pain like that than let someone else take an ounce of it.” He rises up the ranks and some other drug operations are busted until he gets sent to Alaska to investigate sightings of a man who seems to be Jesse Pinkman, and he finds him. They get in a scuffle, but in the end, they have a conversation. Walt Jr. figures out the two are incredibly alike, due to… well, you can guess. Usually when characters in BB/BCS move to Albuquerque from far away, like Mike or Jimmy, they had wanted to escape the life of their hometown. I wonder if Huell had fled New Orleans for a reason.

(Think shows like the fresh Prince of bel air, the Bernie mac show, home improvement, etc.) The show could involve huell's day to day life starting some time before the events of better call Saul, with each episode involving a new job. Huell's family should be a focal point of the show, like how it's described here or perhaps something different and wholesome.

Maybe there could be some larger connections in chile that move in when walter white is gone and the cartel is gone, like it could represent how even if you cut the head of a hydra another head pops out. Since it'd be an anthology film it'd also be easy to do several short stories on things you'd like to know like the walter white family maybe some way for Walter JR to find out what really happened. More Badger and Skinny pete. Some Huell and what happened with him. It could be interesting but I think it'd required the self control to be minimalistic, the star of the show should be the world itself. I'm thinking like sin city maybe minus the comic booky stuff.

Honestly, in terms of these characters, I’d say Holly is the most interesting in that she is a clean, blank slate as a character. And if you think her thing is done as a movie or as a miniseries or limited series, I think that’s a decent idea.
    Here’s my idea:
Skyler had her plea deal with the feds, but it’s never actually established what that deal actually is. You can use this as a way to get things to where Holly is at an age where you can tell the story, which can start with Skyler being released from prison or adjusting to life outside prison. Or you could have it where Holly lives with Marie and regularly visits Skyler.
Another thing you could set up is where Marie, Skyler, or both of them are slowly working to move on from the events of BB/BCS, namely with something like either of them dating and the new guy taking a new father figure role to Holly, be it Holly having a kind of mentor in an interest she has, or a marriage so Holly’s stepdad would take the role Walt would have had he lived longer and didn’t tear everything apart, if only to keep things from getting TOO depressing.
I’d say the conflict would come from Skyler not approving of something Holly has an interest in because she’s afraid of her ending up like Walt (I’m not sure if you could add Gretchen and Elliot into this, but I think an inciting incident would be the reveal of the fact that Flynn’s money he received came from Walt’s coercing).
Eventually, the thing that’ll make the story may not be Holly’s rebellion, but instead be from Skyler in that she comes to grips that she’s not only lying to Holly about who Walt, her biological father, actually was (even if it’s by omission), but also to herself in regards to her actions in Breaking Bad in laundering Walt’s money with the car wash and her affair with Ted, resulting in two truths that she can’t run from, even if she took a plea deal and went back to her maiden name: she was a willing participant in the Heisenberg enterprise and she also contributed to the family being as dysfunctional as it is.
And while Holly will only see “not being supported in certain things” since she probably can’t comprehend the direct actions of Walt outside of what she’s told or reads about (MAYBE you can bring up the kidnapping saga), and you could turn that into getting increasingly frustrated at not getting straight answers from Skyler or Marie or Flynn in regards to Walt, only getting the same stock responses she’s been getting for years like “he was a teacher” and “he died when you were a baby”. And again, you could just have it be where Holly feels she has no support from her family in what she does, even if she doesn’t know about the full exploits of the one called Heisenberg.
Eventually, at the end, Skyler, and maybe Marie and Flynn, realize that holding onto their resentment toward Walt, his actions, and the man he became could result in Holly, probably one of the few truly innocent people in the Heisenberg saga, hating them and that it won’t undo the damage caused like the death of Hank. So we can end it with Skyler and the family finally accepting the things Holly wants to do with her life, along with some talk about “using her powers for good” and it finally brings the story to the two things I find you can take away from this universe and narrative: 1. You are the master of your own fate and 2. The decisions you make are yours and yours alone, and you’re the only one that truly holds responsibility for your actions and their consequences.
So what do you think ?

I think a movie about Holly could work really well.
It could be about her under home schooling and wondering what her mother has been hiding from her all these years. Holly starts uncovering the secrets of her families past by the searching about her father on the internet and maybe watching the VHS tape of Skylars baby shower. She could come into contact with the last remaining contributors to Walt’s crimes, maybe biking too Skinny Pete’s house and talking to him. The climax could be Holly running away from home in search of Jesse Pinkman by finding clues.
She looks through Saul Goodmans boxed away belongings and finding the phone number too the guy who smuggled Jesse into Alaska, she then calls the department to find out it is owned by a new person and the previous owner was Edward Galbraith but he’s in a retirement home with only a couple weeks left to live, she gets information out of him that Jesse lives in Alaska so she sneaks into a train heading to Alaska and then searches for Pinkmans cabin. She eventually collapses in the middle of a blizzard since she’s just a little kid but wakes up in Jesses cabin since Pinkman is always good to kids and then we get this discussion about how she got there in the first place and eventually Jesse discusses his relationship with Walt and what he was like. The film ends with Jesse driving Holly back down to Albuquerque, Holly just lying about running away for some false sob story reason and Jesse visits Skinny Pete and Badger one last time.

Jesse and Holly are the only characters in this series with any story left to tell IMO. Jesse because, even though he made it to Alaska, we don't know how he makes a new life there, and Holly just because she's a blank slate.
I think a Jesse series could work, but I think you're right that it would be very tonally different from what came before. Then again, who knows. We all expected Better Call Saul to just be an episodic comedy.
As for Holly, I think it would be cool to see where she ended up, but a series starring her could very easily end up being contrived.
I think she goes down a bad path, personally. With Skyler and Flynn so broken, I think she'd have little support at home, and maybe she grows up morbidly fascinated by Walt's criminal legacy. But realistically, she just ends up as another teen making some bad choices. I don't think there's enough there to do more than maybe a movie.

Okay: here's a perfect spin off: Jesse is an adult getting by in Alaska. All the while anxiety about how he left things is eating him up, he's wondering how Skinny Pete, Badger, Kaylee Ehrmantraut are doing, and he decides that the search for him has died down enough to pay a visit. He takes a trip to Albuquerque, while he's making sure Mike's family is doing well and sees that they aren't doing well so he tries to find a way to get them money. Then a zombie apocalypse happens, in all the chaos Kaylee's mom dies and Jesse saves Kaylee's life and he also then saves Holly's life, then they run away together trying to make it back up to alaska because zombies don't do well in the cold and it's low population would mean few zombies, during the journey Jesse and Kaylee & Holly develop a father daughter relationship, Jesse becomes the father Kaylee and Holly didn't have, and Kaylee becomes they become the daughters Jesse never had. Jesse struggles in the apocalypse to make sure he redeems himself by taking care of Holly and Kaylee and never letting another person be taken away from him. Basically Last of Us but Breaking Bad.
Okay the zombie part is kinda stupid, but if we get over that part I think that show would be awesome and way better than the Last of Us tv show that is coming.

The two brilliant ideas I’ve had (and posted elsewhere) for BB/BCS spin-offs:
    1) After Gretchen & Elliot decide that Walt was bluffing about having paid hit men to ensure that Flynn gets the money, they do indeed Welch on the agreement. The only problem is that Badger & Skinny Pete have somehow manage to convince themselves that this means they are, indeed now obligated to hunt down & kill them, and proceed to hatch numerous convoluted plots to fulfill their “contract”, with much wackiness ensuing.
    2) Philadelphia, early 1980’s: a young (but somehow still grizzled) Mike Ehrmantraut is a rookie cop in the middle of wrestling with a moral dilemma when suddenly a wormhole opens up and spits out a time machine made from the carcass of an old, shot-up Suzuki Esteem, from which emerges a 60-something Jimmy McGill (having managed to reduce his prison sentence to a mere 20 years or so) babbling incoherently about a “Bad Choice Road” Young Mike is somehow convinced to join up with Old Jimmy as together they travel through time & space helping people to choose a better path in their lives, somewhat reminiscent of Quantum Leap.

Jesse’s brother Jake can go potentially track down Jesse since he kinda looks up to him.

She finds Brock and they decide to get answers so they go in search of Jesse Pinkman. When they find him he starts telling them both what happened and at the end Brock can get revenge for his mother or simply let go of Pinkman and forgive him for everything. They would both leave Jesse. This would be kinda boring but it would be the best ending.

Me and my friends came up with a pretty good concept (At least, in my opinion) for a Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul spin-off show. The name we gave the concept was "Aftermath," and for good reason. Basically, you know how Better Call Saul touched on the effects of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul on side characters, like Francisca and Huell? Now, obviously, a show about Huell cannot work, as you pointed out, so, what can we do? Well, the idea is a single season, idk how many episodes, of Aftermath. Each episode focuses on a character or a group of characters post-Breaking Bad. So, one episode could be showing off what really happens to Kim after BCS, one could be a small redemption arc for Huell, one could be about Francesca struggling to make a living with the cops on her back, one could be a slice of life with Jesse in Alaska, maybe even featuring the main conflict as him trying to move on from the PTSD left over, one could be all about the White family trying to free themselves from the reputation Walt left for them, etc. You get the point. It'd basically be like an anthology series all set in the BB/BCS universe, dealing with the aftermath of everything on some characters who weren't really touched on, hence the name.

hmm i do like this idea, but i am not sure how that would actually work. Most characters after the events of El Camino is either dead or have just settled down. I can't really see how that would be very interesting or exciting. Maybe it could kind of work if done correctly and with a lot of finesse. But i still can't see how that would work with the same feel and atmosphere that BCS and BB gives us. While El Camino is a great movie, even that failed to reproduce that iconic BB feel and atmosphere.

Honestly, I would love to see a series of very short vignette specials of minor characters Walt, Saul, and Jesse knew reacting to the national news about their criminal empire. The film kids working in Hollywood as PAs and seeing their old lawyer buddy as the criminal accomplice of the country's biggest meth kingpin. The air force captain, now a commander, seeing 'the wheel finally turn' on Jimmy. Walt's students in college seeing goofy Mr. White as an infamous criminal legend. That kind of thing; it'd be interesting to see their reactions.

  • @wilkinsandwontinsachievemu3772

Maybe a show about Walt Jr starting a breakfast restaurant chain would work(this is not a joke)(it can be any type of business). With that $1 Million, Jr is basically set for life and he can potentially start a successful chain. The series can also focus on the struggles of possible PTSD sustained by Jr and his family, how that impacts his business and possible future family. Also, some characters from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul can appear and play a role in the show and be crucial to the plot.
edit: yes im aware im retarded

So the general consensus is that most of these shows wouldn’t really have enough to work with and turn into a full show? then maybe an anthology would work which would show us more insight into different characters backgrounds to really flesh out their characters and give people what they want without making an unfulfilling show on one character who’s arc is pretty much done

My thoughts for the Jesse in alaska would be that Jesse attempts to reset his life by finding a temporary job willing to pay him under the table, and collecting the money he needs to set up life as an Alaskan Bushman. He would then run into other people helped by Ed Galbraith, many of them talking about the people they used to be before fleeing. The show could have some potential, including creating new characters and forging new relationships.

All we know is he's evil, he's a genius, and built an empire over 20 years to exact revenge. And also, Walt was the only person on earth able to kill him.

I think this cinematic universe still has a lot to give us. Even when thinking about better call saul I thought he wasn't interesting enough, but they were able to turn it into an epic even greater than the original. What you seem to be missing is that these stories would never be standalones. In BCS they put together Saul's backstory, Gus' backstory, and Mike's in a way that made it as great as it is. In the same way If a Walt jr show had him a few years later in his late 20s moving to alaska for work and interacting with Jesse, as they slowly befriend each other and some inciting incident ends up with Walt figuring it out. At the same time we could have some associate of the Nazis that found a lead on Jesse and is coming for him. Something like this definitely has the potential to be just as good or at least capture the feeling of the first shows. A spinoff that sees us exploring Gus's very early years, as well as Hector, Bolsa, and Eladio starting the business and young salamancas like Lalo as kids, seeing triggering events that led to what they are. A young Hank could also lose a mentor while pursuing the cartel, never finding out exactly who did it, but making him hate latinos, as well as reinforcing the way in which everyone was so happy in breaking bad when the twins died. These are the first 2 ideas for shows that came out of my mind and they can surely be great if Vince Gilligan and his team are ever willing to work on the franchise again.

    • @AlsoApey
      @AlsoApey  Před rokem +9

Those are very good ideas! I think you're right, the spin offs need to focus on more than one character to be worth existing. I do think that with Gus, he's been a bit over used and we already have had 2 development arcs in a way from him, in breaking bad and BCS. I also believe that BCS wouldn't be the show that it is without having the post breaking bad plot with Jimmy in Nebraska. A lot of other spin offs featuring dead characters can't do that, since, you know, they're dead lol. There's still ways to develop a dead character even more, but for me personally, Gus shouldn't ever come back. I like a lot of the other ideas that people have come up with though

    • @jenostheascended7818
      @jenostheascended7818 Před rokem +1

@@AlsoApey yeah I get the Gus fatigue too, if he was ever to come back I'd like to see him as a final season introduction to a show like the Salamanca prequel, just getting to see him spending a few good episodes with his friend/boyfriend, and understanding why they got into the business.

Ok I wasn't sold on any Walt Jr spin-off ideas until this one. This one I can see fitting cohesively in the universe and seems like a natural next step for the characters. Put in some of that Vince magic to create new lovable characters and a story around that and that low key sounds fire af🔥.

  • @Armegeothm

An anthology that wraps up loose ends - Gus doing Pinochet things, Mike's time in Vietnam and then as a beat cop, Hank doing a big bust, Flynn coming home in a cop car after getting into a fight at college and any other thing that could be tacked on, but written so it flows together into this cohesive string despite all the things being unrelated - itd be a fun character study and pretty unconventional storytelling, so itd live up to the legacy of the prior two.
Iunno, everyone else had my actual good ideas already before I even watched the video.

The idea being of course Jesse living a seemingly normal life in Alaska but struggling with PTSD and always looking over his shoulder under fear that one day he might be caught.
