Bring Me The Horizon and A7X are the only bands that could break that tiny metal market share and have a mainstream success in the modern metal era. In Indonesia, Gunslinger by A7X is one of the most popular song in Indonesia, even a lot of Indonesian has Dear God and other white album songs in their playlist since white album released 17 years ago. The reason why they got so big overseas and not only in States because they more concern on songwriting instead of focusing on chasing guitar tone.

Exactly. Write amazing songs, and stop playing with pedals for 30 hours a week. Tone is great, but making great art is more important.

I’ve been watching for 8 years and YES we’ve reached an apex. Vendors are focused on expanding their buyers to non-musicians, DJs, Hip-Hop, EDM, ambient, etc. Beginner tools, generative midi, for folks that don’t play an instrument and have no music theory knowledge. The “one button plugin” does everything attracts 1,000 of sales with a promise that anybody can create and produce music - no talent necessary. The conglomerates that own Native Instruments, UAD, Roland, Focusrite, are driven by private equity investors who demand high returns. There’s only 2 way to expand profits. Sell to non-musicians or acquire innovative start ups with new tech. Both expanding their audiences. This is the reality of music business today.

Preach man! I was a big fan of Metal/Djent etc. But I would rather listen to dua lipa now than metal. haha

Yeah, definitely has gone very sterile and stagnant.

Metal is stagnant in 2020's, a lot of metalheads in this day just focused on gear, and not focused on songwriting.

We have all the tools we will ever need at our convenience. There’s no excuse for people not to pave their own sound and be unique now

Also with Hip Hop too. It’s become so stale and boring. Everyone’s doing the same thing. Less creativity. Everyone’s using the same mic chain. U87 to 1073 to CL1B. Like come on, do something else

Yes, a lot of Hip-Hop is sounding assembly line produced.
