    Great run through. Have been on Ableton for 10+ yrs. It’s pricey, but stable. You described its strengths well, combining live tracked stuff with virtual instruments is where it excels.

      Glad it's working for you! It's not optimal for my workflow, but it is an amazing DAW for production and creativity.

    Reaper is my choice. It's rock solid, is a 15mb download, comes with excellent stock plugins with access to literally hundreds more that are all free and customisable. I tried Ableton but the first attempt to route MIDI on separate channels failed miserably so I went back to Reaper.

      I had similar when I tried to switch to other DAW's. I always end up coming back to Reaper!

    Cubase is not Windows exclusive

      Correct. I believe it was windows only at some point in the past.
