When you get to season 3, depending on what service you're using to watch it, you may find there's a missing episode (Season 3, episode 4 - 'The Speech'). It was banned from the 4OD streaming service here in the UK because of some controversy caused by the creator / writer. That aside.... the episode is actually one of the funniest in my opinion so you should definitely make sure you don't miss it out.
That's the thing about Linehan, he attempts to have a comedian's life ruined over a daft sketch involving a pug and then has a mental breakdown when it happens to him. Great comedy writer, terrible hypocrite of a person.

@j9lorna To be fair, he has since personally apologised to Count Dankula and now publically campaigns against that political mindset and the censorship that has infected comedy and society in general while admitting he was part of the problem in the past

@@j9lorna Graham Linehan admitted he got it wrong and apologised to Count Dankula later. Like a lot of people he wasn't aware of cancellation culture at the time and saw that genuine far right groups were reposting the pug skit and taking it very seriously. I know it doesn't excuse his initial attack, it's just worth noting. Remember - Linehan is in the media spotlight surrounded by those types of cultural Marxists, so he probably didn't get to see it how we all see it, at first.
Uhm.... I don't hear anyone complaining about Douglas today. I think everyone's aware that he's an over-the-top comedy character. He wouldn't be "cancelled" today, because his character is taking the piss out of that sort of attitude, not endorsing it.
Of course, finding him funny as a character is one thing. If you actually have to work for a boss like that, it's a totally different thing. Especially if you are a woman.
It's often said about these sort of shows but I think on UK TV they would still get made. In fact the IT crowd was being shown very recently on mainstream TV here. As you say, TV in the UK usually recognises the difference between making fun of attitudes and endorsing them.
Richard Ayoade has his own series, Travel Man. Where he doesn't play a character, he is himself. Which appears to be a slightly less nerdy version of Moss.
I liked the fact that Moss could smell the Rohypnol in Jens drink so she got Denham to drink it.
Fun fact - The "Wise man" in the beginning of the episode is Graham Linehan - the creator of the show. He makes a lot of cameos in his shows, this is the first of many, I think. He also plays a spiritual leader and a random screaming office worker at different points in the show.
I also recommend watching "Black Books" when you are done with the IT crowd. It was a show that Graham Linehan wrote between Father Ted and the IT crowd. It has the legendary stand up comedian Bill Bailey in it.
He was only a supporting writer for the first series. It wasn't his show. I don't know where that idea comes from, it says who wrote the episode at the start, and it's mostly just Dylan Moran.
Linehan was also the singing “Mexican” in Messy Joe’s.
He appears in 4 episodes, this is the 2nd appearance.

The actor playing Douglas is awesome. He’s playing kind of the same hilarious jerk in ”What we do in the Shadows”, the TV series.
When you finish this, I would definitely recommend 'Garth Marenghi's Dark Place' - Very funny, and with a lot of the same faces!

I think you both would really enjoy Black Books. It’s my favourite, with the IT Crowd a close 2nd. Similar humour, the Irish comedian Dylan Moran plays a book shop owner who drinks a fair bit and hates people. His right hand man Manny is played by Bill Bailey. The 3rd main character is played by Tamsin Grieg. Guest characters Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and others were all in the movie Shaun of the Dead. I can’t imagine dinner parties with those friends.

You should watch House of Fools. It is very much a Vic and Bob series, but has Douglas as their next-door neighbour. Very funny and ludicrous.

I'm literally eating a Hawaiian Pizza now....we've had them in England since the 70s and it's bloody beautiful. I'm just sorry for people who are wrong and haven't tried it.

Pinapple pizza at the end of the night is Ok because it has cooled off. I'll get with that if no one's watching... but I'm not paying for it.
Tomatoes are a fruit, plenty on pizza.
My biggest problem with pineapple on pizza is that people insist on pairing it with ham. I'm sure pineapple can be a nice sweet contrast to some savory topping but not with something as bland as ham.

Daniel is great he seems down to earth but Spencer just isn't funny no matter how hard he tries. Maybe that's the problem...he tries too hard but fails miserably. It's like, he doesn't really understand humour. Sorry to be negative but it has to be said.
