For all those with no sound even after following everything to the end: Go to system settings, remove your headphone and pair it again. The "handsfree" stuff should still be off but you can hear sound again but with much better quality.
It's actually going to work, but it's not the right way. When you disable this option, you end up disabling the option to use the microphone. When watching video only without needing the microphone use the "Headset" option and when you need to use microphone use the "Hands-Free" option. Da to switch just by clicking the audio icon next to the clock with left button.
For anyone having issues with this on windows 11, do the same thing, but when changing properties press apply, then go to bluetooth settings and disconnect the device and reconnect instead of removing it completely as that will wipe the property changes.
IT WORKED. I spent about 5 hours changing every imaginable setting before finding this. Yes, it disabled the bluetooth headset at first, but I followed your instructions to the END and it worked! Thank you
I found the explanation, after a ton of research, in a tiny sub thread somewhere. The Bluetooth headphones don't work on all Bluetooth chips. So if stereo does not work on your computer, there is nothing you can do. There is no way to know which chip works with which device. It is the company that makes your earphone that should update it to work I think, but there is no update for mine. Maybe in 10 years.
@@veganjackbauer2154I can't accept that because my BT headphones have been working flawlessly for a year before this happened, I'm more inclined to think it's an issue created by windows.
Just to explain why: Bluetooth uses different connection "profiles" for communication / audio transfers, which are basically just different communication protocols. The "Hands Free" profile is normally used for low quality, mono sounds, like the human voice - so normally for bluetooth earbuds with a built-in microphone which are connected to your mobile phone to call other people and speak with them. This profile is not suitable for listening to music. If you connect them to your computer, it can use multiple profiles but often the bad quality "Hands free" profile is used by default. You can just disable it, like described in the video. It will be disabled only on your computer, not on the bluetooth device. Same for macOS or mobile devices, like Android or iOS and other devices.
I turned off handsfree telephony when using my airpods pro on my laptop when gaming and it fixed the bad audio quality of my games. I hope this works for Bluetooth speakers as well
@@04SlhS Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do, I think. Bluetooth has a limited bandwidth for data. You can either put everything on audio output (best quality) or share the bandwidth with audio and microphone but then the quality decreases. If you want to have both, then you have to use a separate microphone. Another option: As far as I'm aware of, there are some high quality gaming headsets using bluetooth, which has good audio quality and microphone simultanously. Maybe they are using two different connections or better compressing codecs. You could try to buy an expensive headset then.
@@howtocookazombiesame problem but i think you are wrong about bandwidth not enough,, cz i tested it with my phone,, and the mic and the high quality sounds work simultaneously perfect,, still couldn't figure it out on pc

At first this simply stopped all playback or options to select the device as an audio output -- I needed to disconnect from the bluetooth settings menu, and then reconnect -- then it showed the device as "connected music" and the sound became crystal clear and no longer hollow/tinny. If the steps in this video removed all audio from your bluetooth headset, try simply disconnecting and reconnecting from bluetooth settings after you have unchecked the "audio telephony" option as in this video.

For anyone that is doing this for a speaker instead and don't have the "hands free option" to disable like myself. The problem is probably due to your network adapter having problems processing wifi and bluetooth at the same time. Try playing audio through the device while disconnected from the internet. If it is smooth then you found your culprit. My solution was to switch over to the 5Ghz signal on the router AND change the router to use a less common channel, like 161 instead of 3.
