  • Mike & Angie checking in from Cody, Wyoming -- the Gateway to Yellowstone!
    WHERE TO STAY:
YELLOWSTONE VALLEY INN. Located along the Shoshone River between Yellowstone National Park & Cody in Wapiti, Wyoming. The location is perfect & the scenery is beautiful! Unfortunately, it's under new ownership from the last time Mike & Angie visited & the vibe has changed. The Skinners booked their spot back in February. The park is advertised as "big rig friendly," but when they pulled in the first thing they were told was "well that's never gonna fit!" (but it fit 4 years ago 😉). It's important to note, the bus did fit just fine -- you just need to slant it a little different. If you want a pull-through spot, they do have some of those, but Mike & Angie wanted to be back along the fence line so they got more of the view. The park added some chairs along the rivers, which were perfect for sipping morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evenings. The park is also very dog friendly, which Ella & Clyde loved! They have a pool, hot tub & a little restaurant on the property. The restaurant's now a buffet... again, just a different experience than we expected.
YELLOWSTONE CUTTHROAT GUEST RANCH. The people who used to manage YVI (Randy & Courtney) bought Yellowstone Cutthroat Guest Ranch! They don't have RV hookups there yet, but they do have great guest cabins that you can rent if you don't have an RV! They also have an amazing restaurant with live music--highly recommend you visit the next time you're in the area!
    WHERE TO EAT:
CUTTHROAT RESTAURANT & BAR. The atmosphere at this place was off the charts! They work really hard to get in music talent and it shows. Great vibe, great music, amazing food. Angie said the walleye was incredible, but then Skinner corrected her -- all of the food was incredible! Trust us, just go!!
PROUD CUT SALOON. A steakhouse in downtown Cody. Really good!!
BUFFALO BILL'S IRMA HOTEL & RESTAURANT. This place was really fun! They do a shootout re-enactment every night. Check it out!
    WHAT TO DO:
CODY STAMPEDE RODEO. It was the Skinner's first trip to the rodeo! It's one of the most famous rodeos in the US & takes place every night June - August. There is SO much to see. It's really well organized. A must!!
RAND CREEK RANCH. The Skinners love this place! We actually made a full video about this place âžĄïž ‱ Exploring Wyoming on H...
BUFFALO BILL CENTER OF THE WEST. This museum & art center was awesome! If you like guns, you definitely want to check out their collection. They have all sorts of collections -- John Wayne stuff, Buffalo Bill stuff, Annie Oakley. A whole section dedicated to Yellowstone, the Plains Indians. There is so much to see! Plan to spend some time there look through everything.
BUFFALO BILL DAM & STATE PARK. There's walking trails. Rock climbing. Canyons. It's beautiful!
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. Oh yeah! Yellowstone! The Skinners didn't even make it into Yellowstone there this trip. Next time!
    WHERE TO SHOP:
MERCURY LEATHER WORKS. They have everything to dress up your hats! Vintage ribbons. Hat bands. Dried flowers. Feathers. Everything.
ROCKSTAR COWGIRL. This place lets you go bead your own hat bands, bracelets, necklaces. It's so fun!

Mike and Angie, thanks for the great video. We try and get to Cody every year, there is so much to do and see in the area. Next time you're there, try to get out and see the wild mustangs in the area.

Just watched your video. If you haven't been back to Cody the Cutthroat Restaurant closed up near Wapiti but that's because the owners took over Cassie's Bar and Grill across the street from Walmart and it draws lots of people probably more now than what they drew at the Cutthroat. There's a new campground Buffalo Bluff Park and RV which is just outside of Cody, still easy access to town. It's just North of Cody about a mile from the river. Great reviews and just two years in service. If you love ice cream then you definitely have to try The Bigg Chill downtown. Absolutely delicious real handcrafted ice cream. We go often. 😁. So come back and visit if you haven't since you posted this video. And if you love beer, Cody was named best small town for its breweries!
