- Hi my name is Theresa and with my husband Wayne and our dog JD we are @Ruffin-it 6x4.
join us as we explore OZ in our 6 wheel Ford Ranger .
I try my hand as a Station Cook in the Pilbara WA (Wyloo Station) We head inland to Wyloo Station a large cattle station running Droughtmaster cattle.
The station is 370kms to Exmouth and Karratha our closed towns are Para or Tom Price which are around 200kms away.
I love cooking and sharing my creations so I was excited to take up the position, the muster runs for 3 months so lets start the journey.
Preparing smoko lunch and dinner every day and the occasional early breakfast, i would bake 5 dozen biscuits about twice a week along with cakes and muffins and scones .Smoko and lunch menu very from mini pizza to pies, quiches, chilli crab, corn beef fritters ,quesadillas ,fish tacos,
Being a cattle station we have endless supply of beautiful meat so every night for dinner consisted of meat with vegetables and pasta. With the menu changing weekly the crew was always satisfied , a few things that was on the menu Roast, crumbed steak ,bangers and mash, mince ,spaghetti meat loaf, casseroles, curries, rissoles,.
The most requested food on the menu was crumbed steak and and apple crumble .
I really enjoyed my 3 months on the station .
We hope you are enjoying our adventures, please leave us some feedback or if u want us to add anything let us know and we will be happy to get back to you.

You keep cooking food like that, and the station hands will chain you to the stove. A good station cook is worth gold.
Good kitchen + good food + good cook = winning combination
Thanks. I thought I did pretty good considering it was my first time.. I’m looking forward to doing more next year 👍
Fantastic Food. You remind me of my Dearly departed Mother. She was a Station Cook. Thanks for the Memories . . .

Hard Country out there .. grew up in Newman

Great video. And that sunset wow. Are you a chef? Or only a cook? Did you have any experience in this type of cooking before?
Would have been awesome to see more about the preparation needed.
Hi guys , and thanks for leaving a comment. I love cooking and always wanted to cook on a station, time management is key to being a great station cook. As for experience I had done some cooking in a child care centre , which helps with quantities u had to cook . . There is a few face book groups for … station cooking jobs , they offer lots of tips to get started . 👍if you’re interested give it a go and good luck . They don’t want fancy food just meat n 5 veg and on the table on time 🍺👍
Looks like you one busy lady ☺️. Do you have any time for yourself, doesn't look like it.
It’s very busy, but I get to stop and catch my breath occasionally. But it was a great 3 months.
@@Still-Ruffin-it you definitely need a good break👍✔️
I'm researching and considering this as a new career venture. Got a hug range of experiences so why not add another. Would u recommend? How is the money?
Hi sorry for not responding sooner. It is a great adventure meeting awesome people and there appreciation every time you prepare a meal .. the money can differ d from each station as some pay a daily rate depending on experience and work load $180 -$250 there are a few face book pages
, Rural and remote cooks or
remote contract cooks both these advertise jobs as well as help for new cooks. Have fun in your adventures 👍🍺
I hope there's some weed smokers out there #420blazeit
How many people are you cooking for
Hi , most nights it was 15 and could be up to 25 depending on extras
I think Australian food is so gross. Love the country/ geography but the locals and the food. Nope rubbish.
Jesus I would park up next to the kitchen just to be fed that good 😃
