Thanks for watching! I hope this helps explain the top signs of a digestive enzyme deficiency. Iâll see you in the next video.
This information would've change my life 20 years ago, all these years i've had minor digestive issues that worsens as i get older, everytime i went to visit a Dr. they quickly throw a prescription at me to relieve my symptoms and push me out the door instead of trying to investigate the root cause of my symptoms. i finally got fed up and started trying on countless digestive aid supplements and found that my symptoms get better when i take digestive enzymes in high dose. i ran to the Dr. office and told her and she did a blood lipase test and lo' and behold result came back "pancreatic insufficiency".
our healthcare system is a real tragedy.
Many comments from medical students later complain about the lack of nutritional studies and how nutrition effects symptoms. The profession is swapped with symptom control while overlooking how food acts as a medicine. The failed food pyramid is a great example of this as it relates to obesity rates and metabolic syndromes like acquired (type 2) diabetes, now neurological type 3 diabetes (aka Alzheimerâs). I believe our abilities to accurately guide a physician can literally change this industry (the potential to anyways). It can be argued that pharmaceutical companies have found a way to multiply profit thru biased research and extravagant conferences aimed at the medical profession (making them dependent in a way). Apologies for the digressions but I went thru diabetic nutrition classes and my problems only got worse (and I have a biomedical undergrad in cardiology and neurology) until reviewing LCHF with Dr Berg 8 months ago. Now the food industry is responding with faux Keto labeling which will only confuse more. Sorry about the rant, I just feel robbed after so many years of bad advice from govt, pharmaceutical and food industries
@kay .. how did you resolve it?
Kay, Your history sounds similar to mine, For the heads up on the test you got from your doctor. Can you please tell me what brand of digestive enzymes you take and how many. Iâve been taking the same brand of digestive enzyme and Iâve heard youâre supposed to switch it up now and then. Not sure what brand to try next. Any replies would be appreciated.

My husband just found your channel and I'm so glad he did, he's ready for a lifestyle change and everything you've talked about in your videos about how bad sugar is for you and all the health issues he's been experiencing are most likely due to his insane consumption of sugar. He loves how you explain everything so he understands it. He said it's like you're speaking directly to him. We're cleaning out our cupboards this weekend and trying keto. He's excited to do this and make a change, I've never seen him so hopeful!

Three cheers for stomach acid! đ Not only do you need HCl to activate pepsin, but you need the chyme leaving the stomach to be acidic in order to trigger enzyme release from the pancreas and bile release from the gallbladder. So, HCl is needed for ALL digestive enzyme function!
Hello dr, can explain what is HCI please and thank âşď¸
@@halimashahab6863 Betaine Hydrochloride, You can buy it quite cheaply in any health food store and Dr Berg recommends as many as four tablets before a meal or just as you start eating, but start with one. Namaste đ

@@tumbleweeduk7479 well, it's a little bit different, actually. HCl = Hydrochloric acid = naturally made stomach acid. @@Drberghat about an over active gallbladder when you have an ejection fraction rate of 97 percent? Another great video by our favourite doctor.
For SIBO small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, I take 2 capsules of digestive enzymes with each meal until my symptoms subside -Usually about 3/4days. Digestive enzymes can be bought from any health supplement shops, but they are VERY expensive.
Word of advice, keep off the carbs and dairy products, microbes THRIVE on carbohydrates especially sugars. Go CARNIVORE until the symptoms subside.
For ppl who prefer natural remedies, again talking from personal experience, crush 2 cloves of garlic and swallow after each meal, followed by 2 glasses of water. If you can't stomach fresh garlic, then there are supplements of garlic oil capsules available - again very expensive.
What are the benefits of Garlic?
- Antimicrobial
- Antifungal
- help regulate Tachycardia
- help regulate blood pressure
- help with kidney problems
So pleased for this natural panacea for so many ailments.
Last advice, stay off processed foods and foods with sugars and additives. Filtered water isn't bacteria -free, contrary to popular belief. I learnt that by personal experience.
Unfortunately with gut problems, comes mental health problems like depression and irrationality, therefore you may also need SSRIs until the symptoms subside.
It doesn't need saying that anyone with digestive problems should really be careful with what they eat/drink.
Stay healthy everyone! đ
But is garlic not high fodmap? And when I do carnivore I still feel hungry
â@@bettyausten9533you need fat. natural fat. Not lean mean. So high fat ground beef, Ribeyes, chicken thighs, pork belly, etc.

He did a video on TUDCA on June 10th, 2021.
@I'm happy "Tauroursodeoxycholic acid, more commonly referred to as TUDCA, is a bile salt that is found natrually occurring in the body. When regular bile salts reach the intestines, they can be metabolized by bacteria into UDCA and then later bound to a taurine molecule to become TUDCA."

0:00: đ Enzyme deficiency can lead to various digestive symptoms, primarily due to insufficient production of pepsin and hydrochloric acid in the stomach.
2:50: đ Heartburn can be caused by a lack of stomach acid and a valve that doesn't close properly, while pancreatic enzyme insufficiency can lead to digestive problems.
5:51: ! Pancreatitis can be caused by gallstones or gallbladder sludge, which can lead to inflammation and enzyme deficiency.
8:55: đ The video discusses the importance of lipase from the pancreas and the role of the gallbladder in digestion, as well as common symptoms of bile deficiency.

Tammy AI didn't cite the last point correctly. Only when there is bacterial infection in the low intestines calked sibo may cause problems with consuming fiber.
Thanks Dr Berg, I will add also that with these problems there could possibly be a mismanagement of fats which leads to fatty liver, event more decreased enzymes, and a lower ability to detoxify... further adding damage if not corrected.
Dr. Berg, I donât know how you do it, but you somehow manage to upload the EXACT video I need at the EXACT time I need it⌠canât thank you enough. Been on a roller coaster the past 8 months with shifts in my labs, and trying to get to the bottom of it. After watching tons of your videos, and some others about stomach acid from the Gut Microbiome Queen, I realized this could very well be the root of my issues. Had Sibo in 2018, but now am dealing with all of the symptoms you mentioned. Even down to the pain in the right neck!!! My cholesterol panel worsened in 6mo (LDL and Triglycerides up, HDL down) and my fecal Elastase was 110 down from 149, so showing signs of PEI. Stools are floating half the time, I noticed the red bumps on the back of my arms (low vit A), burping, gas, bloating, and very constipated or just slow motility overall.
The weird thing is my Vitamin D was up to 110⌠I had been supplementing with drops but have since stopped.
Taking HCL and Strong Enzyme now, while also doing a healthy keto, but the interesting thing was the Bile.
I was taking a Bile acid supplement that included Tudca, but was Ox bile (Jarrow makes it). I also did Viomeâs âFull Body Intelligenceâ test and had all sorts of markers come back not optimal, but Bile Metabolism pathways were elevated, which made me think I had more than enough bile? But I think it has to do more with the bile the microbes metabolize.
Anyway, this video is amazingly helpful to see the whole picture!! And such good timing. I will add Tudca back to the regimen for sure to see if it helps. Thank you!!!!
Omg. My D levels and B12 are up too. I donât take any supplements. They are close to toxicity levels and the doctor hasnât addressed this issue. I plan to bring it up with my functional when I meet her in June
@@mytravls yeah my levels are high, and since Iâve been tracking them I know that they werenât always that high so itâs odd. But I also looked up what Dr. Steven Gundry recommends for his patients, and he actually says between 110 and 140 is fine for most people? So Iâm not too worried about toxicity, but I also donât want to keep it that high lol, so definitely stopping the supplements.
Honestly, I think thereâs a lot to do with my liver and the efficiency that itâs recycling fats and cholesterol
Dr Berg's method of presentation reminds me of teaching a child about a complex topic by breaking it down in a very comprehensive and enjoyable manner. A very eye opening video. Thanks Doc

This is a very informative video just as most all of his videos are. A lot to be taken in here. However one thing I must remind my brothers and sisters about is the fact that thereâs a bunch of bodily issues weâre all learning about, but weâve got to be mindful as to why and what the root cause(s) are, because if you end up watching these videos everyday which is actually a really good idea, you must keep in mind the plethora of vitamins and other supplements that are now being ingested into the body⌠too much is not a good thing and we know this. So itâs wise to not ignore this fact. By now you may probably be eating pills for breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner⌠and possibly a late evening snack.
The vitamin and supplement companies have skyrocketed ten fold in the last couple of years and it certainly doesnât go unnoticed. My point is, be mindful and think think think⌠on your own without it being done for you. If you are to cut back and/or eliminate all vitamins and other pills and supplements whatever is next for you to do in order to heal your body?
Well I can tell you this⌠FOR SURE sugar and refined carbohydrates MUST MUST MUST be eliminated from the diet and from within the body. It is simply a poison that wreaks havoc on the body from the inside out⌠inflammation being a big problem. If youâre noticing issues on the outside of the body you can rest assured the inside is doing far worse. Outside of the body issues can be anything from barely able to eat without feeling sick and full, aches and pains in joints and back, dandruff, psoriasis etc. After the elimination process the body begins to heal and a few herbs and supplements can very well aid in the bodyâs recovery process.
Just my two cents and a little food for thought.
Doc recommends low carb across the board....
Thank you so much for this video! I wrote you on your fan page about this very thing yesterday. Heartburn during keto and fasting. You are my hero and have given me my health back in so many ways with your information sharing. So much gratitude for you Dr. Berg!đđ
I find that sipping on apple cider vinegar after meals, especially mixing it into hot water helps a lot if you believe you have acid insufficiency. Avoid getting your kidneys and liver area cold after meals (bundle up!), chew slowly and throughly, try having something bitter and acidic in each meal (lime juice, sauerkraut, frisĂŠe, arugula...). I also take enzymes with ox bile and betaine (New Roots brand). Thereâs many things to suggest as Iâm a Nutritionist who does keto/intermittent fasting, but the biggest thing which makes a difference avoiding reflux is definitely the apple cider vinegar after meals - or I squeeze a lime or two in water with a lilâ stevia, yum! đ

Just a question- what is the recommended supplement for the pancreas issue that you discussed. I don't want to take so many supplements and get no benefit. Thanks for teaching the world on health. God bless đ
No enough stomach acid indicates not enough unrefined salt. Sodium chloride along with potassium chloride release chloride ions in the presence of water to form hydrochloric acid. And older people are normally told to lower their salt intake by doctors and main stream media.
Interesting. Labs show my intercellular sodium is low. So are my HCL and pancreatic enzymes.
CFTR gen ... could be the reason to have high chloride levels in the blood.
Ah Ha! Tests show low intracellular sodium. Nutritionist told me to put a pinch of sea salt in each glass of water, Someone else below suggested high cortisol levels, which may be the reason for the low intracellular sodium. And what is the reason for high cortisol? ---history of stress. Good detective work! Thanks all.

I started intermittent fasting about 2 months ago. I eat 3 fixed meals - 4 hours apart. For example: my first meal would be at 10am, second (small meal) 2pm and the last one at around 5:30pm. First and last meals are larger than the second meal in between. I do not snack. I eat eggs and avocados frequently (both have become my staple food). I no longer crave sugar, I cut it out almost completely. I exercise every day.
My digestion has improved so so much, Im losing body fat and noticing some muscle growth and stiffness.
I guess intermittent fasting works BEST for me, cause even if I exceed my calorie intake a bit, I still notice weight loss.. and digestion was always a big problem for me. Now it is perfect.

Thank you so much. Your explanation is so wonderful and very helpful.
Thanks a lot for this video Sir. Again very informative and well explained.
Sir we have nowdays a social problem called alcoholism. Some go to rehab and detoxify but some don't. They keep on adding this dangerous habitual behaviour in their lifestyles.
I have a request if you can address this situation and help those who are addictive and want a advice on how to improve the system whilest leaving this bad habit gradually.
It will be really helpful to know what our body went through and how our digestive system works and what to add more in diet and vitamins to have a good energy levels.
Thank you again Sir for your work.

This info is going to help me understand what is happening with my Pancreas as Iâve just come out of hospital who diagnosed severe Pancreatitis extremely painful. Seeing consultant in a week to ask him some questions on what I have just learned. Thank you so much
I'm so very grateful for Dr Berg and the wisdom of healing he brings
What gets me is in my late 30s and 40s, I would use the peppermint patties to calm the acid reflux which I didn't have much issues except for the Mexican lunch. What I do now is use the HCL for trying to fix the problem of absorption of minerals and better health. I believe in short term pills but not long term. Changing your diet is the cure (in my mind and eat healthier choices). The lack of soil minerals and natural bacteria in the soil seems to be the root cause on some of the issue with the grown food.
Hi dr Berg it will be kind of u to answer my 3 questions 1. After eating egg yolk why I feel burning sensation in stomach and gut 2. After drinking milk why I get pain in left side of stomach 3.what are the symptoms and remedy I want to know that our body is unable to digest fat properly??
Great video and loads of knowledge. I just wanted to ask, which problem from this chain would be related to green stool. Thank you in advance,
Dr. Berg is amazing!

Hi Dr. could you please make a video on increased liver enzymes during pregnancy and how to take care of it.
I wish you would do a video for those of us that have had WLS & are doing keto/IF explaining our nutritional needs.
I had heartburn after consuming foods with high omega 3 which happens a lot. My mom directed me to take a digestive enzyme so i did and my heart burn immediately disappeared..
I am only 39 years old with several health issues. Born without a thyroid, I dangerously react to t3. I have fatty liver disease. Cysts on my adrenals, kidneys and ovaries. Low B12 and vitamin D. Irregular heartbeat. It just keeps adding up. I had a irregular heartbeat by the time I was 28 years. I am overwhelmed and slowly taking steps to improve my health by cutting out high fructose corn syrup
Check for aldosteronism
Try cutting out processed foods, sugar, gluten, and dairy. Try experimenting with it for 1 month, and you could decide whether to continue or not
Try carnivore?
â@@Aleksander1812 I agree. That alone will probably be the best thing they could do. đ

Don't underestimate STRESS as one of the key issues with digestion - that as well as eating a proper diet, but even with a flawless diet and high stress the body doesn't function well.
Absolutely, can confirm.
I truly thank you Dr Berg for this video particularly regarding TUDCA Bile Salts!!! The symptoms you described are exactly what i experience from time to time particularly after ingesting too much fats and im thinking its very much Pancreatic sludge!!! Kindly advise the protocol for taking tudca ! I have also had SIBO in the past and am wondering if its still not completely gone which is why there are times when i eat my raw veggies or take fibre that i experience bloating and gas as well as some pain!! I am already taking great quality digestive enzymes by designs for health and am wondering Would Tudca help heal Sibo as well ? Should i stop taking probiotics and fibre and do carnivore as you suggest?
As usual amazing amount of information on body chemistry.
Glad you enjoyed it

Wow...more good stuff. This past year I have changed and implemented your advice bcz I was dying from my digestion system not working properly bcz of of nerves shot and the h. Pylori virus was able to do a lot of damage. I haven't taken any medication for over 20yrs and learned to eat healthy etc... but I had a very stressful life and some key traumatic events happened to me that just wore me down and I wasn't paying attention to it and got depleted and depressed and started eating things I shouldn't etc... perfect storm...and then bang... I thought I was dying from a heart attack but 3 times to the ER they finally said I have an inflamed stomach and fatty liver . Dr wanted to give me some lidocaine and malox... I don't even know if that's the right spelling... but I told him sorry I don't take that stuff, but thank you for finding what's wrong and I will research natural healing. He actually rolled his eyes... I was already watching your videos etc so I knew you would be the help The LORD sent me. The Bible says "MY people perish bcz of lack of knowledge and rejected knowledge..." Hosea 4:6
Praying 4 you

Dr Berg, I hope you see this! Can you do, or do you have a video on adrenal insufficiency, as it relates to abdominal pain, and inability to digest properly, and constipation?
I like Dr. Wilson's Adrenal Rebuilder. He provides an easy-to-follow protocol for rebuilding adrenals. Of course, you would need to address stress and follow Dr. Berg's digestion suggestions.
