It’s so weird. I know the things Pete has done are actively worse, but he’s at least not just extremely shitty to a person in an assistant role. That and Pete seems to understand what he’s doing is bad and is slowly starting to become better, whereas Misty is just completely unapologetic.
@@archsteel7 Nah fr this. The way Misty treats Alyssa is quite off-putting. She's an icon that has "given the people so much" but those assistant scenes singe my nose hairs. That girl didn't deserve that attitude.

I absolutely get where you’re coming from here but I think the whole “No it won’t” is Misty joking. She’s still a jerk for scaring Alyssa but despite her saying that she never actually fires her for a couple of mistakes that could get a real professional assistant fired. She says it herself that faeries like to play pranks on humans that can be rather cruel sometimes and she’s no exception. Hell the mirror Alyssa put on stage without permission could have KILLED Misty and she still doesn’t really “go off” on Alyssa. All she ever says is “No you won’t” without actually firing her. It does still make the customer service part of my brain completely flare up but at the end of the day Misty isn’t human she’s an immortal fairy playing human.

Well, exact phrasing. She didn’t set up her reincarnation ceremony with the intent of baiting Titania into sabotaging it (which in turn impulse-jumped to killing her), and likely saw Titania’a haggard state as the _closest_ she would ever get to getting the fey queen off her back (and if she was willing to maim over her shoes, she would seek Misty’s head evermore over being put in that sorry state in front of humans in a farcical play).
So (maybe) less ‘want’ and more ‘opportunity knocked while I kicked down the door.’

He was kind of right though. Misty stole titanias shoes, then when titania showed up to get them back, she killed her and took her crown. The seelie fey asked for the shoes back after the vote, because they would wither without a leader, and misty was just like "nah, fuck yall". Kingston voted for no change, yes, but it was also stability that he knows keeps new york safe.
@Christopher Floody i think brennan and shioban had different ideas about what molding the crown into something else would do. based on rowan’s reaction to the pixie’s request, she thought the seelie would move into the new realm and their nature would change along with it

I'm only 3 minutes in and I have to say
WALLY IS PERFECTLY FINE THE WAY HE IS! Hes 38 and lived on his own, had a job and supported himself. Literally the only problem he has is his diet from what we've seen. He may not be the brightest be hes happy and kind and responsible
He's holding down a solid job doing something to make New York a better place for the inhabitants, he's loving and sweet and content with his life. Wally is doing fantastic and we need to lift up not being extraordinary and "being normal". You don't have to be a hero to be amazing.

i first saw Siobhan on YT doing videos about accents. her voice work is great 🌟
i got a huge kick out of the intentionally over-the-top theatre Cockney from that glamour bar - the woman from anglophenia who can faithfully reproduce twenty different British accents, and she sounds like Dick Van Dyke. that was masterful.

I feel like in the moment with so many people taking your attention it's hard to figure it out immediately. Like everyone had a basic idea but were too busy trying to visualize it in magic form to instantly go "oh, late stage capitalism"

The moment Moses showed up, I started to love this series. He was the obvious villain from the start, at least if you know who Robert Moses is beforehand. The guy built the highways, sure, but also a lot of other public works. And they all contributed to the cementing of capitalism and white supremacy in the US. It's a whole thing.
Just about every large city highway in North America has a story about being fought against because the original plans had the road plowing through non-white businesses and neighborhoods.
Robert Moses (a real ass person btw) purposefully used the USA interstate highway project to target and displace poor black communities in New York.

Diamonds are super unethical because their mined with slave labor, and the people who mine them tend to die a lot both in the mines and outside of them. Plus the whole industry is unethical with false scarcity being used to drive up the price. Diamonds are much more common than "they" want you to think.

Im still curious as to why zack decided ricky needed to get fully naked in order to run on stage in the battle during the last epjsode.
SO! Because the show had to go on for Misty to continue her ritual, combined with the Umbral Arcanum being in effect, Ricky had to appear to be part of the show! A Midsummer Night's Dream has no modernly dressed men, so Ricky went full nude cause it 1) fits the scene of the play better, 2) distracts/entertains the audience (he is aware he is hot), 3) is playing both to his strength and his established himbo characterization (versus getting a costume), and 4) is hilarious (these players are comedians, so really, it just had to be done).

@@wasprider7239 Poor Kug was hit with a double whammy this episode. His oldest son shunned him after learning the truth. His younger son Wally loves him unconditionally, but his oldest son hates him. In addition, Esther's mother was the woman Kugrash backstabbed as a human. In turn, she became a full witch and cursed him to be a rat. So that means he ruined his family's lives and hers. Oh, and he was neglecting his duties as a protector of the homeless to spend time with Sophie and his son Wally.

There's actually a lot of real historical people who were integral in the creation of New York that Brennan put into this campaign, and I'm seriously _living_ for it.

As a native New Yorker, it’s been so fun to watch this campaign! I’ve loved every bit of the trivia and history woven in, and I’ve loved how the campaign celebrates New York for all that it is- both good and bad. P.S. Robert Moses has a beach named after him on Long Island if you didn’t know from your research :)

Brennan is such an incredible DM, he has such a nack for making you relate to everyone and letting his NPS have so much emotional depth so quickly, I love when he lets them drop a wisdom bomb from time to time. [SPOILERS] That scene beginning around 1:40:00 with Esther and Sofia almost made me cry, the big reveal tied up these many different character arcs so beautifully... I'm beginning to look forward to these episodes almost more than to Critical Role
He has this incredible knack for making you care about NPC's, and then putting them in mortal danger to keep things highly interesting.

I'm probably reading way too much into it, but your comment reminded me of the character Bod, short from Nobody, who is a human kid who lives in a graveyard amongst ghosts and other undead in the Neil Gaiman book The Graveyard Book. He isn't genderless, but his name refers to his etherealness, the fact his parents didn't think he should be named after anyone deceased pearson in particular (the "official" reason) and the fact he is the only one there with a true living, breathing, not cursed body (his nickname "Bod")

I don't see it that way. In this campaign he's simply asserting that the American Dream includes the pursuit of prosperity, which can become a harmful tumor if allowed to grow unchecked at the expense of the rest of the American Dream.

Not at all. This is obviously a metaphor for "blood money" and not capitalism. Brennan is far more sophisticated to just be simply anti-capitalist.

No spoilers but if you haven't seen Unsleeping City season 2, that should confirm it for you. I'm also pretty sure he's self-described as a socialist in one of the various discussion shows he's done.
