    Don't you hate the fact that your size changes when you shop at different stores? Kind of annoying tbh.

      Idk, I don't mind, and I am an extra small. skinny people never look "stuffed" and i think this was aimed to encourage plus sized or XL sized women to not try to stuff themselves into something too small.

      Ally & Ash yes but my skinny friends struggle with finding a size that fits them, they sometimes shop in a section for younger girls which hits their confidence... that is also an issue that needs recognition... they need to make outfits that fits ALL sizes, plus and skinny!

      +Siham Al Ramahi It'd be cool if they put someone with a really big hour-glass figure, too. Like maybe one plus sized, one minus sized and one hour glass...I feel like these are the three body types who struggle to find proper fitting clothes the most. C'mon buzzfeed, get to it.

    It all depends on the shape of your body. My closet ranges from a size small to a size XXL. It also depends on the style you're going for. Nowadays ppl like baggy or oversized clothes so a petite bodied person can own a size large shirt. When you like to thrift clothes, you realize size really don't matter lol

      +Mar. shmallow - Last time I went thrifting, I pretty much got something in every size from XS to XL. It really goes to show sizes aren't really consistent, and that the number or letter on your clothing doesn't mean a damn thing :p

      @Roogie22 Před 8 lety +20

      I once found a really cute shirt in size XL although I'm XS/S and I bought it anyway, and it fit me really well. So the number/letter truly doesn't matter.

      Aleena George because sometimes the brands will put a size 10 at a size 7 or 8, or sometimes a large will fit like a medium. Sometimes an xl garment will fit like an xxl... it's hard when every part of the body is a different size. =)

    • @jglobetrotter2830
      @jglobetrotter2830 Před 6 lety +1

      Men's clothing doesn't vary as much. It's standard that when measurements are advertised there may be a 1-3 cm difference from the measurements, because of the cheap way they cut the fabric all at once.
      While the variance is annoying, at least they are given a range of inches/centimeters their clothing will fall into.
      Women's clothing doesn't have standard measurements at all, and often, if you buy online, the size chart they give just says S= x-number of inches for chest, waist, length, and the chart is the same for ALL the clothing items that store sells-- the measurements they are giving are just that store's idea of the how sizes should correlate to inches or centimeters, they actually have nothing to do with the actual measurements of the clothing.

    I feel like all of those women could easily find clothes in almost any plus size shop. Most of those shops start at size 12-14. It seems more like they mentally don't want to feel like they "have" to shop at a plus size store. So I guess I just don't agree with the "in-between size" idea because they are not in-between. They are plus size. And that's okay.

    • @danielle8877
      @danielle8877 Před 8 lety +4

    • @Lovesickobsession19
      @Lovesickobsession19 Před 8 lety +3

      Eh, I work at a plus sized store, and we get a lot of women who will try a 12 which will be too big, and then we get them in a 10 (which we just started carrying) and it would be too tight. But for many others, we have sizes that will fit 14-16 (which has its own designated size at our store)

    • @emilydechamplain1658
      @emilydechamplain1658 Před 7 lety +2

      Yes, there are plus size stores but go into one and look at prices. I can't spend $100 on a jacket or $60 for a pair of pants of $60 for a bra AS WELL as, for young plus size woman, most plus size stores cater to an older audience, meaning that as a plus size young woman, it's extremely difficult to find clothes that are in style, or that I personally like, fit me well, and aren't going to cost me between $30-$80. So yeah, there are plus size stores, but not any that are cost effective and that have good clothes.
      I also would like to point out the hypocrisy of men's sizing and womens. I can easily fit into a men's large, but i need to go to a XL or XXL for women's clothes. As well as men's sizing ranges (typically) up to a 5XL whereas women's runs to an XL or XXL if your lucky.
      It's not just about the fact that there's stores out there. Its an entire industry that makes plus size women feel out of place, and often times ashamed of themselves.

    • @Izzy41630
      @Izzy41630 Před 5 lety

      It depends on the store. I'm like JUST on the cusp of being over XL in regular stores, but in my local (and only) plus-sized store, the smallest size they have (1X) is absolutely just hanging off me. Of course, it all depends on the type of clothes, the cut, the material, etc. so I'm able to buy like, clingier shirts in the plus size, and looser clothes in the XL, but I absolutely feel for these women. Being at that in-between is rough.
      But also, yeah, plus-sized clothes are expensive, unless you shop at like, Walmart, and their plus-sized section is usually just terrible and shapeless. :P

      h&m, from what i can tell from my own experience, just straight up have smaller sizing. or maybe it's the fabric they use, or something. if i have a big lunch i might as well say goodbye to the flow of blood to my legs if i'm wearing h&m jeans, even when buying a size up. so if something doesn't fit in your normal size at h&m, don't dwell on it, it seems like most people have the same experience.

    And the sad thing about sizes is that those XL tops and 13/15 jeans, the exact same measurements could be called a Medium and a 12 at another store. OR an XXL and a 17 at another store but we're so afraid to buy a shirt that's an "XL" bc that means "I'm extra large now". Which it doesn't. At another store, you could be a medium.
    Everyone thinks I'm a small or even and XS sometimes bc of my underweight build and they buy me impossibly small clothes -- but I'm really really broad. So, buying a Medium or esp a Large jacket or something can even make me go "But I can't buy that. I don't wanna be LARRRRGE." When that's not the case. My body is the EXACT same size that fits in the 2 jeans that also fits in the Large moto jacket. My body didn't change shape from when I put on the S/M top and then the weirdly-sized 9 jeans. I have 2s and 9s in my closest. My body fits in both and it didn't change to fit in them. Those numbers don't say what size my body is when it cannot be a 2 and a 9 at the same time. It's so sad how much we'll refuse to buy an item though, thinking that it means we're a different size now bc of that ONE article. ....even if we have a wardrobe full of clothes saying otherwise.

    • @___Music_Is_Life___

      What we really need is for "women's clothes" to be labeled with numbers that have actual consistent logical meaning like "men's pants" are sized by waist and inseam measurements instead of the arbitrary inconsistent sizing "women's clothes" have, like I have literally been shopping and found size 12 shorts that were bigger than size 18 shorts on the same rack because they were different bands so had different sizing. What's the use of labeling clothes with sizes so people can find what fits more easily if they're so inconsistent they're practically useless.

    This made me so happy. We really do live in a society where people are so quick to judge about our physical appearance. Feeling insecure about your body & comparing yourself to others really brings down who you are. I love how the women in this video were able to realize that they can still look absolutely gorgeous even with what size they were. This is how we should act. We should not be ashamed about the numbers (or in this case, sizes) & start loving who we are.

Having S size for tops but M or sometimes even L for bottoms is kinda tricky when I need to buy a dress that fits. So it doesn't matter if you're size S or XL because numbers does matter for no one. There are way too different body types to fit in the same size.

    I am an average sized woman, but my sizes range from small to XL depending on what brand or store I'm shopping. Ive learned to not care about the number or size and just find what looks best on me. Working a thrift store helps too, because I'll find super cute stuff that is XXL, but I style it to look oversized and comfy. I won't buy stuff that is too small for me though. I can look at a shirt and know if it will fit or not. Pants and jeans are a different story, those need to be tried just because the number range makes no sense, and I can be anywhere from 7-8 to 13-14. And again, I'm average sized.
    Clothing companies need to take a hint from mens sizing and make it universal, because certain brand do make women feel bigger than they are just by the number or size they put on it. Sizing should be just that: a size by measurement. Men's pants do this, why cant women's clothing?

    even though you may be a small in some stores , it varies from style & store 😊 so even though it may look small on the clothing hanger , there's a chance it pay fit to compliment your body .
