  • Banksy's work the Girl with Balloon sold for a final total of just over £1m to an anonymous European woman.
Seconds after the hammer fell at Sotheby's on 6 October the artwork started to shred itself.
Pest Control, a firm acting on behalf of the elusive artist, renamed the piece Love is in the Bin.
Now a video called Shred the Love, the Director's cut, has been released by the artist which reveals the stunt did not go quite to plan.
The buyer has said she will keep the artwork as her "own piece of art history".

It's more poetic that it didn't work.
All the fear and despair in the world was shredded (girl) while leaving hope intact (balloon)

The ironic thing here is the artist did the shredding trick cause he was against the idea of art being so valuable, but in turn it just made the piece more valuable :/

plot twist: banksy bought his own painting back at 860k thru someone else, shredded it immediately to prove a point about auctions, 4x his investment and gets a good laugh while increasing his fame... genius.

Random Random Banksy (the artist) created a built in paper shredder inside the frame of his painting before auctioning it.. after auctioning it he clicked a button so the painting will shred.. its a publicity stunt.. he pretty much gambled.. either it wuda went down in value or up up up in value.. its an artistic touch or creative move that no one has come up with before.. the painting was supposed to shred the entire way down but to his luck it only went half way which made it even more meaningful to most people.. the buyer decided hes still going in with the purchase to the painting and it is one of the most talked about painting in the world at the moment

From an interpretive stand point, because the entire piece did not shred as rehearsed, the meaning behind the art is even more powerful, inspiring and transcendent than originally conveyed.
Pre-shred: the wind, a powerful yet spontaneous Earthy force, drives the balloon representing love, hope, and idealism spontaneously from the unsuspecting innocent girls hand.
Post-shred: love, innocence, idealim and hopefulness are not yet lost or destroyed. The shred destroyed the element of the wind thereby suggesting that the viewer can no longer decide if the balloon is coming or going. Since helium tends to defy gravity, the element of gravity cannot act as an implied force on the balloon.
Maybe subconsciously the artist still wants to believe in goodness as much as he has experienced destruction.
The little girl's innocence, hopefulness, and idealism along with love (balloon) were left intact.
So, even in the face of powerful destructive worldly elemental forces - hopefulness innocence idealism and love can prevail due to I and unintelligible forces.
Sometimes it is a good thing when "the best laid plans" don't work out. How thrilling!

    • @animatattvamasi9827
      @animatattvamasi9827 Před 5 lety

Secondly, if the viewer perceives that the girl was a complete victim of powerful worldly unstoppable elemental forces - despite her destruction, love hope innocence and idealism remain unmarred by those forces and continue on without the girl because they too are indestructible powerful worldly and Elemental forces..

    Where's that elmer's glue stick?
Did you know that God loves you very much? He created you to love and for you to love him. He wants you to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. That is why he sent His Son Jesus Christ to save you. Jesus paid your sin debt by willingly dieing in our place. Now that is true love! Jesus is alive...He conquered death and he is coming back very soon. Please receive Jesus Christ as your Savior today...He is the one & only Way to Heaven.
    1) Romans 3:23 For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
    2) Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT OF GOD is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
    3) 2 Corinthians 5:21 For God made Jesus Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.
    4) Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates hisown love for us in this: WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US.
    5) 1 Corinthians 15:2-4 By this GOSPEL YOU ARE SAVED... that Christ died for our sins... that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
👉 Go to Jesus Christ with a sincere & humble heart 💗
Repent of your old life away from God, admit that you are a sinner (We ALL are), acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the son of God who came in the flesh and willingly died on that cross to remove your sins, that he rose in victory 3 days later. Ask Him into your life today - because none of us know if tomorrow will be available for any of us to do so. Ask Jesus to be your Savior and the Lord of your life.
