In an interview with Emmet’s mom, Maime. She stated that Emmet had a stutter. When he couldn’t get his words out, she taught him to calm down the stuttering with a sharp whistle. Idk if that’s what happened but this is what his mom thinks happened and I can see why. These adults took this child’s disability and murdered him for it, amongst other horrible things.

They make poor excuses about embracing the monuments of the confederacy. You can also see it clearly in their voting patterns. Poor whites vote against their own best interest, primarily because of race. When Obama ran for President, you had a lot of white Democrats that wouldn't vote for him in the deep south. The south still has a serious racial divide.
There seems to be a movement to change this mindset, but only time will tell.

Every time I read or see anything about this tragedy my heart is crushed for little Emmett. He was still a little boy! There is no way a 13/14 year old boy, especially a black boy in the 1950s, would grab a woman, a white woman, by the waist and be vulgar. Maybe a whistle on a dare but I even doubt that. What they did to that child is unspeakable, consider the pain and terror he felt. It’s just so wrong. I do believe in letting the past stay in the past but not things like this. They have to be remembered and re-told again and again so that we never forget, if we forget, it will happen again and again. His poor mother, his family and friends. I believe they are all resting in peace. Thank you Lamont for remembering.

I cry for Emmitt. I can't imagine the pain his parents suffered or how scared he was in his final moments. I am willing to bet the after life for them isn't a pleasant one.

I remember when I first heard his story in a documentary, I literally cried for Emmit and his mother. The cruelty that was bestowed upon him and no justice. His mother I thought so brave. With all her pain, she wanted the world to see what those men did to her baby. I hope Emmit got his justice in the afterlife. Btw I look forward to your videos except when you have Troller. That was commonplace in the south. I had a friend in college whose best friend was lynched in the 80's in Mobile, AL when we were in college in Alabama.
