Horrifying story. One of my best friends lied about who molested him when he was a kid because he was more afraid of the real abuser than the guy he accused. Fortunately, the case made it to trial and the truth came out. No one should take the law into their own hands. Facts before emotions. It's the only way real justice can succeed.

I live here in Pahrump Lamont & I actually went to HS school with Heather Pate plus I also knew her sister. She was always a little schizo but she was also a sweet girl but then she got in with a rough crowd & drugs on top of it. Damn shame it turned out like this but it's not surprising tbh

I was abused sexually from age 3 to age 10. From two women and a man in my family. It caused me many problems for decades. I’m finally starting to fully heal at 40 years old.

After looking this case up the cops and pediatrician said the claims of abuse are unsubstantiated. But who knows. The mother should have gone to the cops about it first if he was abusing her son.

I know the 'r' word was used a few times by Lamont, but it may not have involved anything with actual DNA (assuming something did occur). I don't know if the boy had special needs because by now we or at least the authorities should know if the child had been molested in some way. If he had special needs then he might not have been verbal or verbal enough to explain what (if anything) had happened to him. Regardless of the torture and murder case, someone in the position to investigate should have followed up to know whether the child had been abused or not.

I have some thoughts about this: Law enforcement said unsubstantiated( which leads me to believe that no video evidence, nor medical evidence), any medical doctor or nurse are required by law to inform law enforcement (even before an examination performed) if child abuse is suspected. If the police were not notified, you have a premeditated murder. If go by word of mouth....that's here-say. Things that are not explained such as why the video evidence wasn't present in court, when was the child examined(after said abuse) , if the child was "coached" by parent or medical person. Child abuse is unacceptable in all cases, whether it by family or non family.

...honestly, her story sounds made up. She had video of this guy around her kid, but didn't turn it over to police? She had evidence of physical abuse, but nobody else (like a doctor) saw it? Didn't call the cops? Either this story was a cover up or it's Munchausen by proxy.
The victim in this case, Roy Jaggers, was a good kid who didn't do anything. There was zero evidence to substantiate the claim that he molested anyone.
Every parent should explain inappropriate touching to their young children, as well as how to cope with a bad situation, and telling parents about it.

None of us has any idea whether the alleged abuse occurred or not. I want to live in a society where that determination is made by trained investigators, counselors, and medical professionals not some lady and her two ex-convict boyfreinds. I want people who are accused to have a trial where evidence and testimony are presented. My Mom was always suspicious that something was going on with my older cousin of this nature. She was always interrogating me and making accusations and assertions. It was all in her head. Nothing at all ever happened. As the hangman from Hateful Eight said- Frontier Justice is very quenching and as likely as not to be wrong.

Then she and the other guy had fantasy of killing and torturing someone, so she made up the story and manipulated the other fool to help them. The reality is that the guy hasn’t done anything. The courts job isn't to protect someone's children. It is to deliver justice when a crime is committed. The courts and legislation have proven to not deliver justice when it comes to pedophiles and child sex traffickers.
As a matter of fact. Currently, our leadership are actively taking part in child sex trafficking and current laws against pedophiles and child sex traffickers do nothing but cause an increase in child victims. They literally allow violent offenders to walk. In several states they are actively removing convictions of pedophiles. There is currently legislation out there that will change the act of pedophilia and rename and categorize it as a sexual preference.

If the mom went through the proper channels, the accused would be in prison. Taking the law into your own hands can end badly. Revenge killings make exciting Hollywood movies, but in real life, it ruined the lives of several people.
Three people in jail and the child was left without his mother, but if she was on meth maybe it was better for him, we don't know, and what about all their families?
@@sarahbeacom3875 It reminds me of a real life "Death Wish" or "Spit On Your Grave" situation. These Hollywood revenge movies are just fantasies. Had the mother went to the police, she would still be with her son to help him move on from the ordeal. The police and the courts can legally document if the abuse really happened. By taking matters into their own hands, the only real victim is still the poor child, without his mom. The babysitter more likely would have been killed in prison anyway.
I cant stand for vigilante justice given any circumstances, that principle keeps EVERYONE safer. Its okay until it isnt.

Well the son doesn't have a mother or father now, which adds to even more therapy he will need growing up. The mother should have turned this over to the law instead of doing it this way.

Why so he could walk free? There is a case very close to me where a kid was actually raped and there is way more evidence than needed to put him away and he still lives right down the road from his victim while going to court with them. Making that family still live by him, go see him in court and daily wonder if he will even see jail, is that justice? I think that when there is evidence law enforcement should turn them over to the victims family.

Well mom's first mistake was having a guy she really didn't know that well babysit her son.
The ONLY people I ever allowed to babysit my kids were my mother, my husband's mother & my very best (female) friend.
Mother's be VERY careful & selective who you allow to watch your babies, there's too many freaks out there.
I never had children of my own but have helped raise a few like nephews,neices,girlfriend's children,etc. I can only imagine me being sickened,hearbroken and in a vengeful state of mind if somebody did something even remotely as horrid as this to someone I care for. I can only imagine how a parent would feel. When you were saying how the little boy answered,yes,when being asked if the guy had hurt him,my heart felt so bad for that innocent child. To be truthful,I don't have a problem with how he was punished.
I have lived in Pahrump for 21 years and there are a lot of druggies, low life's and scum who have moved over here from Las Vegas. Lots of child abuse and a few sensationalized murders, this being one of them. The torture part is hard to stomach, taking justice into your own hands is too. I thought the DA was weak in not going for life without parole for all three but I guess he didn't want to risk a poor prosecution performance.
