      Could yo kindly tell me exactly what app you are using? The app (Signia App from the Apple app store) I have does a lot of things but, to me, the most important is the spatial configurator and, as far as Ian tell, it does absolutely nothing

    It would be outstanding if app designers from all HA companies got together and produced an app with all of the accessibility options you have spoken about in this video Cliff. I use the Accessibility function of IOS 13.2 to tinker with my hearing aid. Apple (and probably Android as well) don’t worry about propriety issues when working with disability issues, they design for accessibility. As you mention, it’s not about which app is better it is which HA suits your needs.

    I don't understand the credits for the Oticon app, because for the mean purpose of hearing aids, which is hearing and not the connection with your washing machine, its lacks almost everything. No equalizer, no noise reduction, no 3D or focus control, no tinnitus control. It will not help me accepting the device, which I'm testing right now.

    Since I have a Phonak CROS system hearing aid, I was wondering if there are any apps that would be compatible with that? I know that due to having the CROS that Bluetooth streaming won't work and I'd have to use a Roger. However since I am anticipating needing a CI (I've decided on the Advanced Bionics line with a CROS since they have a great deal more experience than almost any other CI company) I would like to hold off on that for now and instead see if there is a good way to get an app that would communicate with my current hearing aids.

    I also noticed that the Phonak app was conspicuously absent. I'm leaning towards the Marvel, but this concerns me. My AuD indicated that Phonak's AutoSense eliminates many of the settings in the apps, and he added that while Resound's app is very good most of his patients don't like the idea of having to use the app. Is that your experience; do you find that AutoSense is a good substitute for the apps?

    • @DrCliffAuD

      The Phonak Marvel is at the top of my list when it comes to hearing aids, but it isn't when it comes to an App. That being said, while the Phonak app is pretty basic, you may not be missing out on anything if you don't like to tinker with your own settings.

    I enjoy your videos and insight.
    However, I need to disagree with your number 1 choice Resound 3D. I have been trying to use this app for almost 12 months. Initially the app worked fine until an update was made by either Apple or Resound... one seems to point the finger at the other. I use an Iphone 7+ software Ver 13.3, the aids are Resound LiNX Quattro, the Smart 3D app is version 1.5.1.
    The issue is the aids have trouble connecting to the App and staying connected, but they do not have a problem connecting to the Iphone. I have all but given up on the app because of the effort required to reconnect. It has become easier to use the programs directly on the right and left aids. My gripe is I selected the aids for their so-called connectivity to Iphones and lets be clear this product is not inexpensive. If I had the insight would have made a different choice of product. There are several work arounds as per Resound to reconnect but they are time consuming and frustrating, especially since the app worked extremely well 11 to 12 months ago. By now there should have been an update to fix this issue. Their tardiness in fixing their problem speaks volumes to me, I would not recommend Resound's products.

    I’m a hearing aid dispenser. I can’t see how you rate Oticon on at 3 - every client I know who uses it, or trials it, complains how crap it is compared to say Resound or Signia. Signia spatial configurator is the best worked feature on any current app; It far surpasses the benefit of IFTTT in Oticon & Bernafon (you missed Bernafon which uses the same app). Widex soundsense learn is wholly impractical in my opinion - who wants to be doing this when out at a meal. It would be better if they just copied in some of the features shown in compass (but manufacturers just seem scared to give control to wearers).
    Signia has a limitation of left right independent volume control unless you turn off the volume control on the push buttons. And then you have Phonak and Unitron which have android streaming and hands free phone use. Oticon / Bernafon shouldn’t even make this list (good Hearing aids though).

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  Před 5 lety +1

      Acoustic reflexes require sending sound into the ears to evoke a reflex of your tensor tympani and stapedius muscles. Sometimes you have to increase these sounds significantly. If a patient can't tolerate the louder sounds, then they may not be able to continue the test.

      Doctor Cliff, AuD thank you. I was diagnosed with trigimenal neurolgia prior to a hearing test and I was scared this accoustic reflexes test might have triggered a trigeminal neurolgia attack lasting 3-4 days very painful. At times I wind up in the ER over the TN pain. So I told the audiologist don't put those loud noises in my ear. She managed to get a hearing test on me without the acoustic reflexes. (I was buried in snow during a blizzard up north) so I may have gotten this trigeminal neurologia from that blizzard along with frost bite.... national guards saved me. Have you ever know TN to affect a hearing test? Ty and I like your videos! I immediately got the best dehydrator as I live i the hot humid south now!
