I've had one and appreciate them: compact, reliable because it's a Smiths. Yes, different colours were made - same idea with the much pricier Vitascope electric clocks. Not so clever is the idea of opening up the case from below to wind and set the hands.
I love small drop dial clocks :) They're just so cute! The way the case opens reminds me of some office/dial clocks which opened in the same way. I have the sane problem with the chain jumping on my Majak cuckoo clock. I just don't get why they made wrong size chains for those communist clocks...
It always surprises me how nice bakerlite can look sometimes...I really like the look of this, it seems to have a nice patina to it
Ok, that thing is adorable. I hope you keep it
Me: Sleeping even with 2 morbiers and grandfather clocks next to me... Or more, an entire room of chiming clocks

I’ve see a few of these in a few antique fairs but with a sort of chalky white finish. Quite interesting to see one with a natural Bakelite colour.
Watch the hinge area as they are prone to cracking there.

I replaced both chains on my East German cuckoo clock as they were very jumpy. I put Regula chains on and they work perfectly!
