This channel should be called "project Dave" great stuff dude
Dave this is so great to watch.........great mate nice job live the project.
Thanks Jap Racer 👍 yeah really enjoying it and thanks for taking the time to watch and comment… can’t wait for the first adventure getting close now!
Another great informative vlog, looking forward to the next one re electrics as we are getting close to getting our wiring all done!! we are clueless with electrics 😂
Thank you! Hoping the electrics won’t be “too” bad… I have gone for a pre wired kit so should be a case of running the wires plus the connection to battery… let me know how you get on! 😀 thanks again for watching and the comments 👍 really very much appreciated 👍
Hi Andrea - Just wanted to let you know that I have started the electrics now.. Part One is there and working on Part 2 now… No 🔥 yet 😀 let me know if you have any Q’s after you taken a look when you can 👍
@@TransitCustomCamper great!! Will have a look, watched your ep on the small tables you made! Fab idea, we are just about to start carpet lining ours 😱😱wish us luck 🤣
Great videos again!! We also just installed or electric hook up today!! Squeaky bum when cutting into van but all good!!! We are not doing much electrical work and keeping it basic but great to see your set up 👍👍
Ah cool thanks 👍 Yes 100%! I kept checking the measurements! One of them don’t F it up moments for sure 😀 I think basic electrics is a good ideas 💡 good luck with it! I am almost done now.. just the rock and roll bed to do then first adventure 👍
@@TransitCustomCamper we still haven’t decided on seat/bed type yet got a few ideas but need to get back finishing off other parts! Work gets in the way 🤣🤣 damn day job lol, just noticed your latest vlog ‘before & after’ so will watch that after work! We’ve still to get the carpet lining done, scared incase I mess it up hahaha trial and error I guess 😄😄 so what’s your plans with the van? UK travel, Scotland is a must it’s where we live and have some breathtaking scenery! We’re hoping to have our van completed by end Aug as we are away touring the west coast and north of Scotland 👍👍
@@angelarobins135 - Yeah know what you mean! It’s been every spare minute for me in between the day job… We having a rock and roll bed fitted with rear facing seats… I am picking it up on 12th August and that will be the last job (for now)
No real plans yet for van… the initial plan is I am building it for my wide as she works as an equine therapist so always out and about and needed a mobile office to work from 😃 but we will do some nights away I rekon too!! No big tour planned - as kids, animals and work make any longer trips a bit tricky… but hopefully get some in 👍
Good luck with the lining! Sure you will be fine…Only thing I learned to avoid was sticking the carpet to itself was a pain plus don’t over stretch the stretch! I did on the wheel arch and the carpet a bit thin 🥲
@@TransitCustomCamper sounds great, am sure you will manage some days/nights away, we plan to do as much as we can with ours at weekends anyway, great advise re the carpet lining! I would probably have it sticking everywhere other than the van!!! So will be extra careful fitting it 👍👍 look forward to seeing it with the RnR seat fitted too, you’ve done a fab job in 7 weeks!!
Legend. Thanks for being so detailed!
Hey Si - thank you! 👍
Hi, great job. hope you dont mind me asking. Did you put any ventilation in a gas locker, outside of it, or both? Where did you locate your locker, under the sink? Im just working on mine now and was struggling to find a basic set up video that meets the standard requirements. thanks Buddy
Hey! Thanks for the comment and checking out the video! I didn’t install a gas locker but I secured the gas bottle in the cupboard and put a drop vent in the floor. In hindsight I would say a gas locker should be better with vent also. I see some people locate them at the back in the wardrobe sometimes. 👍
Great job mate
Cheers Mark! I will need to make sure I include the video on connecting the van to 5G WiFi then I can keep an eye on my Forex algorithm too when on the road 👍
I thought you were not allowed to use rubber pipe
Not that I am aware of to be honest? But I am only a DIY conversion so I would always take some extra and professional advice if you doing something yourself 👍
Thanks for sharing the video. I was looking at this hob, but couldn't find any info on the Dometic website for the supported pan sizes you can use on it.
Now that you have it, is this something you can help with? My biggest pan is 26cm.
Hi - thanks for checking out the video 👍 that’s a good question! I have never measured the pan sizes to be honest. We have a small frying pan prob about that size maybe a bit smaller and that is OK 👍 we have other smaller pan set to and all been OK on the job 👍
@@TransitCustomCamper Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.
Nice video, thank you...I'm wondering ,are you gonna keep the gas barrel under the sink, or somewhere else?
Thanks for the comment and watching the video 👍 Yes I store under the sink and have a drop vent. I think if doing again I might get a gas bottle locker to be on the safer side 👍
Hi just watched your instructional video on the smev
I fitted on my old hob the gas pipe directly on to the pipe and tightened it and checked with washing up liquid for gas leaks
So do I really need to use the o ring and fitment if not adding copper pipe ..secondary I was going to run of calor gas not camping gas I presume this is also OK... thank you 👍
Hey John - thanks for the comment. This was my first install so I personally just followed the instructions 👍 I wouldn’t want to give you any bad advice especially when it comes to gas! On the Calor - I guess this would be OK but just be a case of the correct regulator. One comment I did get was about using a gas locker for extra safety so that might be a consideration too 👍 All the best with it and hope it’s all good 😃
Were did you purchase your vinyl
Was from a place called Vinyl Warehouse www.vinylwarehouse.co.uk
Did you make a video on how to do the electrics on the cooker.
Thanks
Hi Bobby - thanks for the comment and checking out the video 👍 There wasn’t any electrics needed on the SMEV 9222. I though that too initially that it would need it for the ignition but it wasn’t required 👍
Thanks, just about to install mine. Silly question for the ignition do you just push done the
Button😂.
@@bobbyedwards6144 ah cool - good luck on the install 👍 one thing I wish I had used was a pipe bender for the copper pipe for the gas as I did it by hand and was not the best as you could probably see 😃 Yea on the hob ignition, you turn the gas and then click the ignition and boom 💥 😂 but hopefully no boom 😃
Hi Dave,
I'm in the market for a SMEV 9222, and I'm seeing some real variety in terms of cost. Where did you purchase the unit itself from mate?
Hey JP 👍 Yeah I found the same when I was shopping around too! I actually ended up getting it through Amazon but I just checked the link in my orders and it’s not there anymore?! Although it was though Amazon it was actually supplied by Just Kampers - it seems a lot are sold out so maybe that’s why prices are such a variety… I paid £270 for the unit that was back in July. I got the fitting kit separate from eBay that was £58 at the time. I have put links below to both in case they are helpful 👍

@@TransitCustomCamper many thanks for the reply much appreciated, looks like a lot of sellers are struggling for stock at the moment for sure!
Hi Dave, last thing left to do is Gas. I cannot figure out for the life of me which Gas bottle will work with the part they've provided. Do you have a link for what you're using?
Hey Daryl - I think it would depend on the regulator supplied? For the kit I got it was one that would fit with CampingGaz as per the link below www.campingaz.com/uk/c-624-refillable-cylinders.aspx
@@TransitCustomCamper thanks Dave
Hi . What fabric have you used for the worktops please
Hi - I used a vinyl material got it from here www.vinylwarehouse.co.uk/d-c-fix-granite-gloss-black-marble-sticky-back-vinyl-346-0680-45cm-x-2m-24399-p.asp
Hi what size gas bottle did u use and did u install floor vents ?
Hrmmm I don’t know the size! It was a camping gaz one.. Yes I installed drop vent in the cupboard where I store the bottle.. To be honest I think a gas bottle locker might be better also 👍
Sorry is that a right hand sink unit
Hi 👋 Yes the sink unit is one with sink on the right hand side. I think you can get them witch sink on left also 👍
Could I ask where you got the kit from?
Hi - thanks for the comment I got it from EBay but the company that supplied was clear cut camper vans link on eBay is here www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271890091336
Also just to say that the water pump supplied when I tried to fit wouldn’t fit I into the water bottle! They have exchanged it but just be worth checking before if you decide to order 👍
@@TransitCustomCamper many thanks
Lets do this lol
