Great speech. I also notice a problem in Japan regarding people owning Otters and cafes keeping Otters so that people can come and play with them. The exploitation needs to end. It having an issue regarding the population of the species.

In general, Japanese people are not educated enough about animals. All the stores I have seen here in Hiroshima have puppies and kittens, which to me gives me red flags. There are not many animal shelters here either and puppies and kittens are being sold for high prices. I worry what happens to these animals after 6 months where they are almost at their full size and have not been adopted yet. The lives of so many animals who have only experienced being in a cage to be viewed by people to be cut so short because the Japanese only want them when they are cute... It makes me so disgusted, I want change so badly.

anyone know of other videos of the problems with the pet industry in japan? There was one with a male in samurai (or some martial arts) attire - explaining about why cat cafes exist - and it's due to overbreeding - but it was so long ago - I can't find it when it's buried by the youtube algorithm.

It's a cultural problem, and it will never be fixed until a radical change will happen in society.
When I was in Japan I saw fresh alive fish being put onto a grill, and everyone seemed more than amused.
The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way it's animal are treated...
