My Lord I'm so glad that I found you. I've been an amateur cabinet builder, but never a restorer. I'm 80yrs old but I'm thinking getting back into the hobby. I haven't built anything in about 25 yrs, but because of you, I'm thinking of getting back into the game. The only problem is I've gotten rid of all my tools and machines, but hey I can always buy some new or used, and I'm old, what do I have to lose. You are incredibly talented. So wish me luck.
Have a blast!
When I was about 7 years old I watched my dad make a desk, two end tables and a coffee table from walnut. To this day, I love the smell of freshly cut or sanded walnut.
Djk33â€đđ you have a boyfriend how would you are
My dad built homes. When I walk into a freshly framed house it takes me back 60 years! The smell is awesome! Resin, wood, etc!
Tom here, again; The Toners are just such an amazing tool!!! Really pretty vanity desk!!!
Thank you for honoring the care and craftsmanship that was put into making that piece by restoring it that type of quality furniture is very rare today.
Great work....... like
I'm addicted to your channel! Bingeing on all your videos. đ
Such a pleasure to see so much attention given to something that was originally built with skill and care. You make the repairs look so straight forward when they are clearly anything but. Thank you for explaining your thought process.
I watch three channels you Thomas Johnson and flipping drawers. I have learned so much from all of you. Informative entertaining and fun to watch. Thank you.
Me tooâ€
Just beautiful.
The mirror is gorgeous.
You are right, the grain of the veneer is stunning. Excellent work, thanks.
Thank you! Cheers!
A beautiful desk beautifully restored - loooove the gorgeous wood grain!
And superb foot reinstall - invisible repair thatâs super robust.
No surprise that this client is a repeat customer; they bring home a showpiece every time!
You need a âRestoration by Trenaâ medallion to attach to your works! đđ
Thank you very much!
I'm at such a loss as to why anyone would thumbs down this...must be jealousy.
Great job as always!
Trena you did beautiful job on that desk and keep on doing a nice job I like your jobs that you do
Another beautiful job.
Excellent! Nice work.
Another nice piece!
Tom here; love learning stuff!! I never considered adding sawdust to epoxy! Great idea!!
WOW. You do a PERFECT JOB
I really like this piece Trena, nicely done.
Really lovely work.
Beautiful.
Clamp on...Clamp off... Clamp on Clamp off, the Clamper!
Beautiful work .
Fireman friend gave me a sewing machine in cabinet years ago that was salvaged from a fire. The top looked like 3 or more layers of veneer peeling from water damage so I decided to strip it, re-veneer and refinish it. Turns out it had about 5 layers of paint on it that I took off and the wood underneath was perfect. Put a new finish on it and it looks brand new (almost) When my friend saw it I could tell he wished he had kept it. To this day it is one of my favorite pieces. Love your channel. Canât wait to see more
VERY NICE Enjoyed your video, be waiting for your next.
Coming up soon.
Simply beautiful work!
Thankyou Cynthia!
I have loved old furniture since I was 20 years old I am now 67 I have a 1910 oak? bed and dressing table you have taught me a lot â€
It's truly a shame, but alot of the time, people would simply cut these gorgeous cabinets in half, it is so nice to see one get restored
Just waw again.
The outcome is always surprising in a positive way.
Great jobđ
Thanks again!
You are a brilliant furniture refinishing master.
I love these videos where there is no opening âdramaâ - horsehead in bed and such - just straight, simple restoration! Love them! Merry Christmas!
She deserves several million subscribers.
Wow, that veneer looks awesome (now!)
That has come up fantastic!!!
Beautiful!
I love listening to how you solve problems then go ahead and fix the item, you are a very clever young lady.
Working with veneer is a challenge and you make it look easy. I call you the âWood Whispererâ.
Thankyou!
Stunning !!!
Beautiful job!
Another amazing piece given new life by Trena.
Thank you Tom
I worked briefly in a smaller woodworking shop and there was a man in his early 50's that did the spray booth duties. He was lax about inhaling the fumes and his dark brown hair had turned silver gray. His teen son had the brown hair. Another shop I worked at did spot and overall UV gloss coatings on papers and substrates. There was a young man in his early 30's who had inhaled the fumes and his hair was white. The ventilation in that shop was poor and they had the windows open to help carry the air out of the building. It is amazing what chemicals can do to our body.
That is a gorgeous piece. Well done!
Awesome work.
Absolutely Beautiful Workmanship
Your method for cutting out a piece of replacement veneer at the same time as outlining what you'll cut away is GENIUS! Why haven't I ever been taught to do it that way?? Thank you so much for showing that.
What are you spraying int sprayer
The same technique can be used for joining wallpaper overlaps, or indeed floor tiles at an edge.
I liked the rest of it. With the wood glue then set with an iron. Never saw that. She is tricky.
I have no idea why I'm watching this. But I can't stop.
Lol. Thanks for tuning in
Glad you mentioned wearing a respirator. Not just for your safety but especially for those looking to you to learn. When I was younger for years I was an airbrush artist but always wore a respirator and even built a DIY suction system to the outside. Even just using a small artist airbrush, with a very uncomfortable heavy duty double filter respirator and a fan sucking out the overspray, when I stopped airbrushing I sneezed in all the colors of the rainbow (or all the colors of the project I was working on at the time). A respirator is a must even with ventilation.
Beautiful job. I love walnut.
Another stunning restoration. There is a lot more care and skill in restoration than there is in 'upcycles/furniture flips'. I love seeing beautiful wood grains.
czcams.com/video/jb3RAIc8J0w/video.html
well because upcycling is usually a amateurs work while restoration is quite often a professional
Great job.
Outstanding job. Always impressed. Eager for more repairsâ€â€â€
You're quite the artisan. Nice work.
What a beautiful job on a classic piece of furniture. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the set done. Take care đđđŠđș
Thank you! Cheers!
This is the second time I have watched you work your magic on a beautiful piece of furniture. You really bring them back to life with your techniques and expertise. Thanks for sharing and I'll be looking for more of your projects.
That is beautiful. I'm glad you'll protect yourself with a respirator next time.
Itâs gorgeous!
Beautiful Work, Trena!
Much appreciated
Beautiful Job
Itâs so beautiful! Yes I saw that please take care of your health around these vapors đ
That is so beautiful. I love the stain work.
Wonderful work, you work very controlled and neat. I'm enjoying!
Niek
Amazing workmanship, the same needs to be done to all of my collection of Stag Minstrel furniture, cracks from central heating, a mouse and things falling off the mantel piece have taken there toll, but you have inspired me to keep everything and restore...đ keep up the great work.
You can do it!
You do incredible work!
What a beautiful piece of furniture, great work.
There's a reason why walnut has always earned a premium price. The earthy warmth of the patina, like you've demonstrated here, just feels so incredibly rich with that fascinating grain. I love building with some of the exotics too, but walnut is so satisfying somehow. Another fabulous job!
One thing about making CZcams videos, it definitely makes you more conscious about what you do and how you work. Wearing a respirator while spraying that finish is a pain and inconvenient, but when you know there are people watching, especially if you want to have a positive influence on people just starting out, it causes you to go ahead and take the time and do things right. Accountability is a good thing! ;-)
I completely agree. Cheers!
Love the tip on steaming to get dents out. I will file that one away. Also, I applauded you on having sharp tools! Amazing job. I think they will have the rest of the pieces in your shop in no time đ.
Another gorgeous Trena master piece. WOW ur restoration is better than a new piece.
Awesome job! I like hearing your thought processes!
I own and operate a custom finishing business (40+ years) I don't do a lot furniture refinishing but when l do l enjoy it. That said it's a step up from finishing new cabinets and furniture. My hats off to your knowledge and skill. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks for watching Nick. Always nice to have fellow professionals.
Great to see such a wonderful skill being passed on to the next generation. Also awesome props to your Dad!
"Hearing your thought processes" is one of the things that makes your channel worth watching.
I am 69 years old very much an Amateur have had health issues interrupt wood working but I watch and learn as a Master is at work with full explanation Thank You even in the hospital I watched
Please get well and Thankyou!
What a beautiful piece, well worth the cost to keep it alive !!!
Thanks for watching Robert
This darn near made me cry. I inherited a very similar desk from my grandmother. It was really dark, but when I refinished it it had the most amazing veneers! I was in the military, so that desk followed me around for several years. On our last move back to the US, the only think that was damaged was that desk. It was destroyed. I still have a couple pieces for sentimental reasons.
Good job btw!
Oh too bad.
You are in Angel of the reparation! Wonderful job!đâ€ïžđ
Really enjoy watching your videos. I will soon be 80 years old so I could no longer do what youâre doing but you take me back to my working years. I worked in a cabinet shop for many years. You do beautiful work. Please wear a respirator. I have to go every year for test to keep watch on my lungs do to damage cause by breathing in the chemicals we used in finishing. In my day there were few women doing wood working but you demonstrate itâs the talent that counts. You do have a gift.
Thankyou Ruth!
You're like the younger female version of Tom Johnson! Which is why I guess one of your videos shown up in my feed. I watched one and was hooked ! So now I'm one of your fans and subscribers đ
This is beautiful work. All the care and attention to every little detail you lavish on these pieces is just astonishing. I really enjoy your "thinking out loud" process for figuring things out. I do that to, but without the benefit of a CZcams audience, so I just look like a mad person talking to himself :-D
Ha! Same
I do the same
Nothing beats walnut, beautiful!
Nice work
Amazing.
Your repairs skills are outstanding. I really love learning from you. Nobody can argue with with the results. I am so impressed.
Thankyou!
You are such an amazing talented craftswoman Trena. Astonishing attention to details! I enjoy watching your videos so much and learn so much from your techniques and processes. You mention your viewers alerting you to "wear that respirator". I cringe when I see you spraying with no mask. You are a beautiful young woman with a massive skill level. Please don't damage yourself with those deadly fumes from all those toxic chemicals. Just as we all have to wear our Covid masks in certain situations, please wear your work mask/respirator. Keep up the great videos.
You did such a beautiful job on the piece. The leg repair was genius. Most people would have just stuck a screw in there and called it done(like the previous repair). I love to see beautiful wood restored. đđ
Great Job!!!!!
Beautiful Piece and a great job!
This turned out beautifully, I bought an antique dresser for my grandson's room, I was watching all the DIYs where people paint but you have inspired me to refinish it, I hope I do half as good a job as you did on this.
You will Jungle Flowers Canada, take your time, it has to be a labor of love and it will be beautiful...just realized why I hate 'shabby chic'!
yeah that "just paint everything" is a fcking easy way to deal with old furniture but it basically just plasters over problems.
Loved this!
You did a fantastic job. Thanks so much for sharing.
Very nice work, thank you for showing
Wow that came out beautiful!!! great job!!!
Fabulous job! Wow!
Love it. All your work is beautiful!
I love your work!
That turned out great. Good job on the repair too!
Glad that you're going to start using a respirator from now on.
Yes! My brother began woodworking before any thought was given to ventilation. I lost him as a result. Be safe!
Mayby is time to recognize adult person as adult and keep advices for kids? Just wonder what encourage people to say somebody else ,especially you admire for skill, way of teaching quite complicated trade, what should do,what needs to wear? What about side should sleep? Just be polite and DONT interfere with others freedom.
@@misiokinsale wearing a mask to prevent getting lung disease is not a limit on her "Constitutional rights" Own someone else! Oh and by the way are YOU vaccinated?
Thanks for the video. I agree with speaking out loud your thought process. Have seen videos before where somebody explains the plan then change. Only later do they explain why, i get so much more when you explain as you go. Piece turned out beautiful as expected. Thanks again. đ
Simply outstanding! Well done.
What a great job. It looks really beautiful ( love that veneer).
