      @@elcheapo9444There are people who do 100's of pushups a day or even in a row, they're planking for that entire time and have no problems because it's impossible to hold in your breath for that long but it's also probably because the core isn't engaged at the bottom of a pushup to the same degree as the top so the core gets trained dynamically rather than through static hold

      @@naturalstrength8393 ok, I follow you there, and agree that the body will dictate to breathe during exercise. In Krav Maga they have a pushup drill where they go max out while holding the breath.. if that adds extra value, physiologically speaking, I don't know. In yoga, the plank is done in a sequence of moves where the muscles are used in opposition with cycles of tightening and relaxation. So, that would be good. It's the holding a pose that is troublesome.

    What about Wim Hoff breathing, where you do the breath hold at the end of round of hyperventilating? Is that inter-cranial pressure ok, or is it unhealthy?

    • @colmrooney414
      @colmrooney414 Před 4 měsíci +2

      hyperventilating depletes Co2 thus reduces oxygen absorption. the main benefit is from breath hold at the end. the fast breathing just makes it easier to hold breath longer as you get "air hungry". still not a good thing don't you think? instead do other breathing techniques such as diaphragm breathin and, 4-7-8, BOLT test. remember breathing helps the mind focus its not the objective goal

    YES! omg YES..i've used isometrics since..well..i began doing them when i was still a small child..out of necessity. 5 maybe 6 yrs old i had severe muscle spasms..and isometrics was my natural instinctive reaction to them to get to sleep at night..and walk normally during the day..stop dropping things...no one taught me i just felt the need of tightening the muscles all over my body & holding, count 10 then releasing, repeat, until the spasms & pain went away...i got Very strong. Still am.
    High school taught us planks..and i knew immediately they were bad..got in trouble with teacher for saying so..but once out of high school never did another plank again & never will. No Need. Isometrics is a Life Saver & keeps my entire body toned into old age. No need for a cane or walking stick, no worry on ladders..i can walk anywhere...no need for a gym & on no medications. i am 68 yrs old..
    Thank You for the Validation! & for Showing everyone else How Well this Works! Bless You!

      Hi there. My brother had almost same problem. Sometimes he felt like his feet would tear of and extremely painful. He had very hard time working. My naturopath recommended magnesium chloride 250g x 3 a day. You can increase slowly until the spasms stop. Most people are very deficient in magnesium. I take a combo of 750g every night for sleep. Hope it helps. It's relatively cheap and it's needed for over 300 functions in our body.
