Anyone else upset that they attacked their toilet spider? Like, that spider chose you, he was your protector and you turned on him. Every house needs a toilet spider
IKR I'd rather have a toilet spider than dunny flies 🤣
I have a shower spider
@@daveamies5031 Don't you mean Dunny Budgies
I had a pet huntsman once, she gave birth to 200+ babies that spread throughout my house. They would drop down from the ceiling on me in bed or watching TV. It was... not fun. I lived through that ordeal coz I really didn't want to hurt any of them. A few months went by and it happened again. Apparently female huntsmen can even store the sperm from one mating and use it another time! Needless to say, I decided I could no longer live with hundreds of spiders infested throughout my house.
No, spiders don’t attack you. People with guns attack spiders.
Our stores are very different. The reason you pay for bags is that we have banned single use plastic bags as an environmental strategy, to keep plastics out of our oceans etc. which has been a m ajor problem for our marine wildlife. Most of us carry reusable cloth or canvas bags in our cars for use at the store. The bags you pay 15c for are also designed to be multiple use bags and recyclable, use it until it breaks then recycle it.
When I was in Oregon 15 years ago you had to pay for plastic bags, it’s very common across the US. Most people I know there have done the canvas or paper bags for many years too.
Meanwhile face masks have replaced plastic bags as the new scourge on our environment.. Brilliant
Now woolies has paper only for 20c and they're hardly reusable, and especially useless if you have something cold or if it's raining.
(FYI, I do have plenty of cloth ones but sometimes I forget or pop in unplanned.)
In more popular areas and cities they will always charge for bags. I have a gigantic collection of reusable bags for the day that occurs in the strange little town we’ve lived for 5 years in Indiana. You can’t really use them here or they think you’re shop lifting if you’re carrying them 🥴😳. I’m from NYC and would LOVE to use my recyclable bags!
Tim Minchin also did a song called Canvas Bags to remind us to bring them to the store, since we kept forgetting when they first released the canvas bags.
I remember calling my mum on phone crying about a flying duck is attacking me, it was a plover bird and my mum was laughing at me while I was still crying.
LMAO plovers are ruthless
There are so many spider videos because Huntsman Spiders are so photogenic. They are large and hairy, making them look very scary, but they are quite harmless and placid if left alone. They are great for keeping more offensive insects to a minimum in your house. I have one or two occupy my living room during summer. They creep around the walls taking down blowflies and mosquitoes in the evenings. Fun to watch instead of TV.
as an arachnophobe, I'm glad I currently live in a part of Aus which doesn't have the spiders you get in colder parts. Instead I get to watch geckos filling that niche, and hear them barking at each other
I have spiders and gekkos in Brisbane. I saved a huntsman from my washing machine the other day - poor thing was drowning. I love my gekkos 🥰
I like to have a Daddy Long Legs in the toilet and geckos 🦎 eating the mosquitoes. I’m allergic to mosquito saliva. Of course, I am the only one who ever gets bitten. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Huntsman spiders. Completely harmless, they are great at giving you a jump scare.
Kmart in Australia is a completely separate thing from the American company, also loved the video btw
Woolworths always gets a double-take from Americans, since there’s no Woolworths in the US anymore. As it happens, the US and Australian versions of “Woolies” are completely different companies, just happened to have the same name.
Yes it is, despite the same name & similar branding…kinda weird 😂
Kmart is owned by Coles Supermarkets, they purchased the company in 1978
@@billdaniel8310 Wesfarmers, Coles is separate now.
KMart in Australia is owned by a large Aussie company, Wesfarmers, who also own the Coles grocery chain, the Bunnings hardware chain and Liquorland bottle shops. A lot of shops charge extra for plastic bags these days to reduce the incidence of plastic ending up in landfill or waterways and killing fish, wildlife etc.
Westfarmers don't own coles anymore they separated back in 2020
Frogs in the toilet are common especially in rural areas, actually green frogs are pretty cool. There'll typically be some carpet snakes around hunting the frogs, they won't hurt you, their after the frogs!
Just flush!
I miss my froggies 🐸. It’s too cold where I am now. I just have to deal with the red belly blacks and Eastern Browns. This property is infested with them. You really can’t do anything about it.
I used to work in outback Australia at a cattle farm for a while. You didn't want to go to the bathroom at night because the toilet would be full of frogs swimming up the pipes. If you had a room with a bathroom you would have to close the bathroom door or you would have frogs jumping out your toilet into you room at night falling asleep to the sounds of frogs jumping around your room.
The theory is that if a Magpie thinks you're watching it then it won't swoop you, so you draw eyes on the back of your helmet.
Don't really see the Plumber birds anymore in my area though I remember walking through the local sports field to get home at night and hearing their horrifying shrieks all round. Perfect horror movie setting.
Plover.
ah yes, *plumber* birds
Green tree frogs is a tropics thing. My grandparents’ house in Queensland had them. I lived in NT but I never saw green tree frogs around the house there.
as an Australian I recommend you should look at some honest government ads, by Thejuicemedia, they are one of my favorite Australian creators.
😂😂😂 Love your videos, mate! Always entertaining. Don’t worry about being rude - it’s pretty hard to upset an Aussie. We love taking the p**s out of ourselves 👍🏻
we've all worn an ice cream tub hat with eyes and streamers. pretty sure it's compulsory arts and crafts in primary school.
and yes magpies swoop when you aren't looking, actually most birds will attack when you aren't looking if they are going to attack.
If you feed them, they spread the word and you’re left alone. They hate cyclists 😂😂😂😂
Here in Adelaide the past few of years we have lots of miner birds who swoop us on our walks. So we have to watch for Magpies as well as Miner birds.
Yes don't know which is worse. At least magpies make nice sounds. I was standing under a bus shelter & a minor bird came head on straight the me then just flow up at last minute....like it was saying sike!....what a spot to put a nest near, strike many humans daily.
Australian Kmart is a different company to American Kmart.. They bought the right to the name, but it's owned by a large company called wesfarmers which also owns Bunnings.. And a lot of other companies..
It's very popular for cheap homewares and decor..
Our Kmart is much closer to your Target than ours (which is declining.)
Target, too. Same name, completely different company. We also have a Lowes, but it sells clothing not hardware. Your Lowes did try a joint venture with our Woolworths to create a Bunnings competitor called Masters. Complete failure! Lost a fortune and completely gone now. Starbucks also failed. The only places it still exists are basically where tourists and foreign students gather - cos they recognise the name. Other than that, it failed dismally and closed most of its stores. CNBC did a video about it, it's on CZcams.
Peter H target here in Australia used to be called Lindsay's then Lindsay's-target when myer bought them then they just simply became target
@@adambrock3932 Never knew that. Thanks :)
When I was around 6 or 7, I was using the outhouse on a farm in coastal Queensland. Got halfway through a number 2 and felt something jump up at my bum. I looked down and a giant green frog was clinging to the rim. Needless to say, I ran screaming out of there with my pants around my ankles. It took a long time for me to trust frogs (and outside toilets) again haha
Got the shirt I ordered for my wife today off your channel. Friggen awesome mate. Great quality great fit and quick delivery. Thanks heaps.
Which one did you get? Also, how much was the postage? I like the Happy Arvo one but was wanting the grey which doesn't seem to be available atm.
@@Sydneysider1310 evolution of aussi in a small. All up cost about 45 including postage. Took 4days. Great fabric quality and you can actually read it clearly. Sizes are pretty good. Missus size 8/10 and the small fits well.
@@darrenheapy1265 Thanks for that.
@9, 14 she's Colombian, and her Husband (who caught the spider) is an Aussie,🇦🇺👍🏻👍🏻
I hear the best way to stop Magpies from swooping is the feed them, make friends with them.
Sounds like a bad idea, get a helmet and put eyes on the back so the bird thinks your watching
I had a small pony a few years ago that if there was a plover in his paddock he would walk up to the gate and keep the most distance he could from it even if it ment going a long way out of his way
I've got two plovers that have been nesting in my backyard for the past 5 odd years, never had a single issue. Mind you, I don't mess with them either :)
Barwon Valley Park is in Belmont, Geelong VIC.
I didn't even realise that a mini Australia is there, and I'm only about an hour away.
I was attacked by a pluver guarding its baby today!! First time ever but now I can relate 🤣🤣
We live on the coast and are totally surrounded by the mongrels of things.
Zip ties sticking out the top of the helmet works fairly well if you are on a push bike.
The part of "How i thought australian boys would look like..."
Maybe it's because I'm an elderly lady... Maybe it's because I'm a rugby-mum... Maybe I'm just weird...
But you can keep the surfer dudes.
The other guys look like a hell of fun.
I prefer reality 😂😂
I hate mullets with a passion, but those skullets kinda made me think of my next haircut!
@@Ausecko1 😳😳😂
@@Ausecko1 Is that what they’re called? Skullets? They are hideous. I thought the mullet was bad enough.
@@sherrylovegood yep, depends on the person, they look horrible on a bogan, but Floki rocked one in Vikings for a while
@@Ausecko1 I’m not going to be able to get used to it. I couldn’t stand the mullet the first time around! Lol!
The little Australia in the lake is at a park that I used to go to as a child with my siblings cousins and grandmother, it is about a 5 minute walk from the home my gram parents built and lived in before the passed. We had so many good times there ❤️
First good day with no rain here in rural Victoria, by tomorrow the swimming pool in my backyard should be gone, fingers crossed lol.
The ice cream bucket face is an old favourite. It works on the theory magpies don’t swoop if you are looking at them. I never stuck around to prove/disprove the theory.
spur winged plovers are also called yellow masked flap wings the "three beaks" is actually just wattles those dangly bits like roosters have. plovers lay their eggs on grass their eggs and their chicks look like rocks. if you go near the egg or babies you'll be copping a spur in the back of the head. plovers also fly at night and they use a loud cark cark cark call to echo locate and avoid obstacles. some people don't like them much, never really understood why.
Because they attack you all the time. You can’t go anywhere in your yard if you have them (its always 2 of them attacking with a barbed wing). You can’t mow, can’t sit on the deck and can’t let the dog out.
You ring council or animal control and they say - they’re protected. I hate the bastards.
@@murraya82 it was tongue in cheek i know why people don't like them, they're noisy and the swoop. i have them on my property but they never swoop and they don't bother me. but i got opened up a good few times by them as a kid training for athletics.
I thought it was a little sarcasm but I was having a whinge. Sorry mate.
It is true that magpies won't swoop if you're looking up at them as you walk by. The problem is that you don't always know that they are there until you get swooped.
In a previous video you asked what a Bogan was, those are Bogans in the clip where she shows what Aussie Guys really look like
Plovers and magpie noises send shivers down your spine.
The trick to catch hunstman spiders is you put the container over them and then slide a bit of paper to catch it. Then you can put a lid on it or simply go with what you have and let it outside.
The green frogs in the toilet used to happen all the time on our farm. Especially at night
I live on a 5 acre property in SE Qld and there is 2 metre (6 foot) Carpet Snake (python not poisonous) that lives in my garage, he/she is friendly and lets me pat it, they are good at preventing mice and rats from entering the house.
All I can say is.. Australia is such a big place that it depends on which part you are in to what you will experience. In my experience living in both southern NSW and Northern QLD it is like living in different countries. All those frogs are most likely in the tropical areas in the north Queensland although I've never seen so many personally, it is most likely an outside toilet on a property. Magpies swooping are most likely NSW and yes I was swooped while living there. The funny looking birds with "3 beaks" is a Plover and they are the QLD version of a Magpie.
And if you live in Brisbane you get Plovers and Magpies but miss out on the green frogs (still get cane toads though)
@@daveamies5031 Which is half way between where I grew up and live now, cheers Dave.
I found once you are north of about Maryborough you will get your green frogs and striped marsh frogs. I loved looking after my frogs. They are just so gorgeous.
The other day I had a huge green tree frog hopping around in my room so I left my bedroom door and backdoor open so it can leave on its own accord. Most likely got out when I was sleeping like intended.
Btw 97% of the time you can leave doors opened and unlocked
@Ryan Was the idea is to help the environment, not the cost. I’ve recycled for as long as I can remember - we’ve always had a trash can for recyclables. We did it for our children and environmental concern becomes larger as our earth keeps changing. I feel that it’s just the “right thing to do” for the future of our planet.
I used to ride bikes regularly, and I would put my sunnies on my head facing backwards, it worked.
The frogs in the toilet. I just stick a glove on grab them, stick them in a bucket and take them to a protected area outside.
It is not common in a city, tends to be in rural areas with septic rather than sewer.
I thought it would be the septic. They are just lovely. I love frogs - despise cane toads.
I remember Agro had an anti magpie hat that had his face printed on top.
p.s. a plover will nest on an unused paddock/field with high clumps of grass. a sturdy leather hat is recommended as also acts as quick shield if taipan/black snake stands up to strike close by as their hunting ground for mice.
Hi from Australia, I am 60 years old and have seen maybe 20 big spiders and 3 snakes in or around my homes. Queensland has the magpie as well as down south, the eyes are what the magpie are going for, even our posties have flags on the back of the motorbikes. Love your show.
haha caravan spider is just a huntsman, as scary as daddy long legs
Hey Ryan, I've come to like your Aussie video series. BTW, we never say "Happy Arvo", but you could start greeting revolution, it's cute & you're a likeable bloke.
Yeah it would be "Good Arvo" but hey it's his thing I guess. Imagine if people said "happy afternoon" as a greeting though
Thought it was weird at first, but it’s become his “shtick,” so it’s all good. 😂
Prefer to hear G'Day!
My jaw drops with the frogs in the toilet and you're like is that a common occurrence...? I'm like no ive never seen that before. ... you just open the lid and you get 400 frogs? That made me laugh so hard
Also I will not sleep until I see the spider carcass! Queensland here and huntsman move fast asf!
The spider in the caravan was a Huntsman. Big but completely harmless
My mum was obsessed with k-mart, if the store was even mentioned in her presence.. oh god! Drive past the store.. mum says “k-mart time!”
Magpies nest in the trees, Pluvers nest on the ground & pretend to be injured to leed you away from the young if the swooping don't scare you off.
Swooping season just ended and us Aussies are celebrating. 😂😂
I love aussie accents😌❤
2:05,
Yes this is very very real. I was just walking down the street walking my dog and I have been swooped by a plover.
Also Kmart is AMAZING ✨
👇🏻if you agree
I love Maggie's, but they're fearless in protecting their nests and babies. Otherwise,. they're not inherently violent. They're very intelligent, and we can earn their trust if we feed them occasionally. Their fav eats are mince meat. They don't have teeth so they can only eat food that is easy to swallow.
Btw the mullet never left Australia 😂
You need a daddy longleg spider, true guardian of the household
Yeah green tree frogs in the dunnys are really common. Especially up the hotter parts.
Plovers are also called spur winged plovers because they have spurs on their wings. Also called lapwings. They nest on flat ground and are very protective of their chicks. They prefer nesting near water but people have taken so much of their habitat from them that the nest in places such as sports fields and footpaths.
Correction American VS Aussie tik toks!
Australian KMart is like US Target, and Australian Target is like US KMart... there are still some stores, but there aren't as many. Most are now KMarts.
Here are some movies you should definitely watch Lion with Nicole Kidman, The dressmaker with Kate Winslet, Ladies in black with Rachael Taylor, the man from snowy river, Tracks, the hunter with Willem Defoe and last but not least Australia with huge Jackman and Nicole Kidman
I find green tree frogs in my bathroom. They climb up the sink and out the plug hole. I always check to see if ones in it before I brush my teeth now.
When I was a kid I got off the bus after school and a magpie swooped me. It spilt my head open and I had to get stitches. Had heaps of running’s with them since.
Guaranteed to get a bonus with every flush..oh they're everywhere. Frogs only live in all year warm areas Northern NSW and Queensland mainly. Huntsman spiders are harmless. Perfect collection technique
It's the same Kmart company - and it's full of really cheap product.
Plovers are different from magpies and only nest on the ground so are actually a protected and endangered species
I love Huntsman spiders, at least you know they are there (because of the size). Probably only get one or two a year in my house, but I don't live rural or outback. Never have been chased by a magpie, have by plovers, but they don't actually get you. They are smart, they move away from their nest to protect their babies, they expect you to go their way, and leave their nest alone.
> She carried on about Kmart and then showed a KFC meal? Maybe her local Kmart has a KFC inside?
> Sitting on the bed -INSIDE the campervan - successfully catches the spider and THEN - takes the lid off! Nooooo! These buggers JUMP! Do you really want to have to strip the whole van out and shake EVERYTHING out before you go to sleep!? She'd be like; "That's YOUR job. I'm going to a motel for the night. See Ya!"
> The Green Tree Frogs - were thirsty! And searching for a cool wet place. Must have been hot out. Make them a cool wet place ELSEWHERE - and GENTLY scoop them out and transfer. EASY! Frogs R so CUTE!
> Yes -Magpies not only try to put holes in your head, if they think you're too close to their nests - but have been known to target {take out} Eyes. So, I doubt the 'eyes helmet' would work. Wear glasses. They also make friendly and non aggressive Pets if you start feeding them from young. They like mince... They are an enormously clever bird and have a beautiful song.
> Plovers (also known as Masked Lapwings) are FIERCE Parents. and fearless. No they don't have 3 beaks - that was a weird picture -although there are different types around Australia. I have seen a Father Plover dive attack at the grill of a Semi-Trailer when it's just hatched babies got into a gutter by the highway and were too small to hop back up. Both parents were trying to call them back up onto the grassy verge, and screaming in terror and rage and diving at every passing vehicle. So, I parked and walked back - while holding a plastic folder over my head, and gently herded the babies along the gutter until they reached a driveway they could run up and then back over to their Parents. The thanks I got was the father still dive bombing me all the way back to my car. Phew. * Note: This was Before I learned that they are also called 'Spur Wings' - because they have sharp spurs on the edges of each Wing. LOTS of people told me theses spurs had poison - but Not true, however, strikes are quite rare. For Plovers it's all screech and bluff. 😆
I was waiting for that spider to jump, too!,
3:18 no they're different from the Australian magpie but are similarly defensive in mating season
Magpies only swoop from the back so if it looks like you have eyes on the back it won't swoop u
Omg the toilet with the frogs is my worst nightmare. I would literally have a coronary if I saw that.
If you ask me everything in my room is from Kmart so I can relate to the first tik tok lol
how do all? heads up on plovers. they have a barb, [ similar in size to a pan sized leatherjacket fish ], protruding out the elbow part of their wings. can cause serious injury if punctures a neck artery or part breaks off and infection results, so be prepared to bat em away. magpies will swoop but only a peck on head results and duck away for second assault if still lingering near chicks. taztez.
No . Not magpies. But they are aggressive at breeding time. Plovers are ground nesting, noisy little buggers. Spiders don't attack. That was my town of Geelong with the mini Australia.
You should do an ozzie slang challenge btw I am an Aussie
When I was a kid I got trapped in a field with a friend of mine when we had accidentally wandered near Plover bird eggs. They were dive bombing us and we had to crawl out of there on our stomachs through long grass and I couldn’t see and only hear the relentless screams of my friend from somewhere else, along with the shrill blaring alarm calls of the Plovers.
It was Saving Private Ryan in that field. I made it out unscathed but my friend had Plover impact craters in the back of his head and got taken to hospital.
Mostly you can just avoid them though.
Leave the spiders alone, go to the toilet in the dark if your frightened, just keep your shoes safe, but don't trust the black spiders on the floor! Spiders appearing means they are having babies or it's going to rain, they will move on if undisturbed!
Spiders are super sensitive creatures, so the spider getting shot at was probably more aggravated by the vibrations than anything else. Which is funny because the worst thing you can do is scream when you see a spider. They'll chase you and that'll probably lead to more screaming... it's a vicious cycle that my old man learned the hard way 🤣
Plovers are actually really good parents, so my family protect them at all costs
My mother had a pet Magpie and pet Goanna! No worries!! 😊
The bit about what guys look like isn't rude at all! Aussies are pretty easy going and don't really get offended easily. Besides, it's true in some cases. Lol
Happy Arvo! You need to get that greeting trademarked ASAP. You don’t want someone stealing your catchphrase. I’ll have to look at your shirts. They are getting very good reviews! 🇦🇺💜🇦🇺
everyone in OZ goes to kmart, its the most successful stores here, there is no one who hasn't had to deal with a huntsman just leave them alone and they will catch a few flys and he will be on his way unless you cat wants to play with him
Happy Arvo Man, don't be nervous!😳🤺🇦🇺🇺🇸🦘🦎 We've got your back!🤺🇦🇺🇺🇸🦘🦎
She's not a true representation of us, the plovers are called spur wings because they have a spur on their wrist. They're very protective of there chicks, they make a lot of noise to warn you that you're too close before they swoop at you.
The tiktok about what Aussie guys look like isn’t rude, that’s what we look like, everyone rocks mullets and flannelettes
That squeaky chair is back again! Lol 🎉
Ducks aren't immune to magpies sweeping. Out in our front garden, these ducks are minding their business, searching for food on the ground, magpies start squawking & start swooping. But theses ducks stand their ground.
If you live in the north, you learn to always put the toilet lid down so frogs can’t get in.
I'm not going to KMart if she's there!! 😳 Plovers are usually in the country, Magpies in the city!!
I’ve actually been to the mini Australia, it might have been a different one but there’s a school camp facility there that I went to in year six
Lol I’ve picked up a baby plover before and got harassed by it’s parents 😂
Nah plovers are way bigger than magpies. You, the Mrs and bub should watch "Penguin Bloom" a new Aussie movie, it's based on a true story and stars a magpie. It's really good, the scenery and their awesome house in north Sydney is cool as!
Kmart is the absolute cheapest here. Always busy, and very very popular. And it's not only "poor people" who shop there. Everyone eventually needs Kmart - even rich people 🤓
I found a frog in the toilet just recently. Had to chase the silly thing all round the house to catch it and let it outside. And my sister spotted a python on the roof a couple of weeks back. It had clearly just eaten and looked to be trying to get under the roofing iron. Darwin NT.
K-Mart is huge in Australia every mall big or small has one.
There are still 20:Kmarts in the USA as of November 2022.
No spiders don't attack you, it's a huntsman there a very timid spider. Instead help them get out of the house, without attacking them.
you get a few seconds of music before they copyright you , you'll be ok . just dont play too long lol
Barwon Valley Park is in the City of Geelong in Victoria
