The station was built in 1885 and is one of the oldest Italian railway stations. Long distance trains include services to Milan, Rome and Messina. Regional trains serve Agrigento and towns along the coastal line to Messina. An underground train within Palermo to Giachery runs ½ hourly during weekdays.
