    I fell in love with Giardini Naxos in 1978 - and the love is still burning. For the third time, second for my husband, the destination for the holidays are Giardini Naxos, close to Taormina. It is a cosy little city with the sicilian atmosphere, that we love. You can book a room at Hotel Villa Giardini close to the beach. It is located at a narrow street, the garden are fantastic, the rooms authentic Sicilian, and it would not do damages to your budget.

    Sicily is one of the most interesting place on the face of the earth. I want to see the Stromboli volcano at night while it is erupting.😍

    2:52 Would loved to have seen a map shaded w/ "quieter areas worth checking out" to make referencing (and thus repeat views) the video a bit easier, but really enjoyed this guide overall!

    Sicily is magical! You can spend a month there and not having seen it all.

    Is it a bad idea to go to Sicily in the end of July? Worried about heat?

    • @paulmontello6074
      @paulmontello6074 Před rokem +2

      @@newlifesteev Yes. I prefer taking trains. They do go to all the major towns. In June I took trains from Syracuse to Catania, to Giardini Naxos, Taormina to Messina, Cefalu and Palermo. If you live in Europe and can drive your own car then ok. But renting a car is more of a pain considering cost and difficulty parking. Of course there are some small towns in the mountains that don't have trains but that is no different than other parts of Italy.

      Why?

    • @AN-xu1bq
      @AN-xu1bq Před rokem +2

      Honestly? I traveled many places and Italy and italians were in my heart. They still are, but Sicily is totally different than the rest of Italy. People are very rude, they are chaotic and driving there it feels like you’re in a jungle. One worker from a gas station spilled benzine on my boyfriend and then laughed in his face. Catania and Palermo are the filthy af. The only city I liked was Taormina, that’s it. The beaches are no different than other beaches, nothing special about them. Would never go back to Sicily.

      @@AN-xu1bq Sorry to hear about your experience. Sicily is a poorer region and I’ve heard that it’s very different from northern Italy. Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ll factor it when I plan my trip.
