  • I see a lot of corner gaps around doors on DIY floor projects when I am showing houses. This can be a tricky area when installing a new floor. Here's how to avoid that without having to remove a lot of casing and trim!

That's a great tip for when you are in a tight spot and can't tilt the piece up to get it to click and lock into place. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.

Ok to add on to this. That tapping block will damage your vinyl. A pull bar will work better with a piece of the actual floor to use as a tapping block. Or just a hammer with the piece of floor. Also to make things even easier you would split that jam with a seam. And it’s about 50/50 rather I’ll still take the trim off while installing. Some scenarios is almost impossible install a plank without damaging something just trying to get under a door trim in a super tight spot. Coincidentally it’s usually the very last plank in the tightest corner with two different jams going on. Either way, keep up the fantastic work! 👍👍

I agree on using a piece of the actual floor! That’s usually your best bet. This block actually slides into the click and lock a bit- it’s a weird shape- as long as you don’t let it bounce out of place on the first tap.
