Changing the degree on your miter isnt going to solve the gap you had from the top to the bottom of your base. You have to adjust the bevel/compound on your saw to fix that issue.
The miter square does not solve the the bevel degree unless you hold it against the floor and against the wall upright
Or you could cut 45’s and make the miters tight, then caulk at the wall. That way you are correcting the walls and it will look better. Trust me
What does it mean to "make the miters tight?"
@@alexise5376- Make sure the two sections of wood meet where they should and then attach to the wall. Any gaps that remain can be filled with caulk.

Yup and thats why your corners look like ass and the homeowners have to clean up your mess every few years because you used the "hide my laziness" miracle caulk
99.99% of carpenters are a mess at caulking

How would you do the inside corners ?
Always have a hammer on you for when you just can't get that miter tight no matter how you cut it cause drywallers left a chunk of mud down there. Beat the corner in to tighten up that 45 but just don't beat over your trim line.

How do you do this the other way?.. like if the angle goes inwards, not outwards?..
On all inside corner you should cope. Out side are 45and if you have gaps you can adjust the angle as needed.
What does cope mean ? I just started learning to install floors and i have a little trouble when im cutting 45s for the baseboards. Thanks for the help 👍🏼
@@estenanm13 what you do is buy a coping saw and on one side leave it flat to the wall then. You take the other piece and 45degree it and take the hand coping saw and follow the inside where the paint is still on the trim if it’s stain grade of the 45 degree at a slight back angle. Just look up on you tube how to cope trim and they have the process on it. Coping means to follow the profile of the trim.

I'm going to go ahead and say I disagree really.
Generally I hear people say "Measure to 45¾° or 44¼°", and that's where you get the sloppy inside miters that are close but just not quite there. Coping is great to get that perfect result, but if you can get the same result in 3 seconds of measuring and cutting, this is superior to the other methods.

Ive worked in hoses where the walls would be cricket as fuck ive worked in a bouse were they were inhad to rendo the bass board 3 times over becaue the walls were kicket as shot the floor qaved the wals waves i could not mat up wall to wal or the walls to the floor .pure i struction to the home owner they wanted all bas bords flushed to the ground wit h made the bords uneven at the corners then they wanted them flat aganst the walls witch seperated the bat bord from eachother on the coner some from the top and soem from the bottem so what i had to do at the end is put is 45 at each angle line the bords up as closs to be ach wall the tje floor as clod as i could wotjout seperatimg tje coners of tje bord and coulking in all the gapes an there were alot of them . The home owners kept saying the walls and floors were perfectly strait they were ralking out their ass

You have a gap on your baseboard because your miter saw is not calibrated. You have to adjust the blade so your cut are straight both vertically and flat. If you re doing professional work make sure you use your tools proficiently
That can happen wether youre bevel is dead on 0 degree and your cuts at 45 degrees. Not all walls are perfectly level and square it doesn't have anything to do with your miter saw not being "calibrated"
The problem is if your walls aren't plum or square to the floor, which they usually arent, that anglel willnt give you a perfect miter.
Are you just trying to gaslight us? Have you ever used a chop saw? Anything left or right of 90 (zero degrees) is greater. There is a brief moment in the video where you can see the numbers on the saw table.
Nice... but he'll use that for a little while after he been in the same room 8hrs. 45 degrees hardly exist since don't be disappointed.
You don’t do a internal mitre on skirting you scribe one onto the other

I just cut every outside miter at 45.5 or 46. I prefer to cope inside 90s, but have plenty of tricks for metering inside corners.
Thankfully, the custom homes we work in use tall flat base with a really tight round over so we can often but the inside 90s unless it's a job that demands inside miters on flat stock
If those tricks are still impressive to you you probably haven’t install thousands of miles of crown moulding and baseboards

I can cut perfect miters all day long, but when a wall is not plumb a corner is not square and a floor is not level that’s a different story ; cope , scribe , caulk because in production trim you have to hurry boyeeee!!!
You should be coping the inside corners not 45s

I always cope inside corners on base with a top detail. Always cope insides on crown.
Pro's only do that
No need to cope 2 1/2 white baseboard. Crown always cope but that tiny trim just get it tight. Even a cope can have a gap cause drywall at bottom is pushed in. Sometimes not just the corner 45 but your vertical is not strait either them you got set baseboard flat and cut on angle too.

I start a hair longer than needed and will go back to the saw if it doesn’t work…usually it ends up being the right size after the blade kerf but if not i shave just a touch off and works good for me

Imagine taking advice from a dude who uses an $80.00 Chicago Harbor Freight chop saw! Just kidding!! They work fine! Take it apart and replace the cheap ball bearing that locks it on angels. It will lock up on you. It's made of pot metal.

I have the Bauer 12" sliding miter saw. It's very powerful for cutting 2x lumber. Why do I mention this? IDK but I just had to.

HE DIDN'T CUT 47 DEGREES! HE CUT 43 DEGREES! People look, when the blade is straight out it's at 90 degrees. When he moved off the 45 he went LEFT which makes the angle SMALLER!! 47 Would be 2 lines to the RIGHT!!

When you cut a board with the blade straight out you're cutting it at 90 degrees! Duh! So as you move the blade left the angle gets SMALLER! SO WHEN YOU GET TO 45 AND MOVE LEFT THE ANGLE CONTINUES TO GET SMALLER! DUH! If you put a carpenter's square against the blade and the fence that's 90 degrees! Hello duh!
@@whopua look at the numbers on the mitersaw.. It has nothing to do with the saw blade in relation to the fence.. 🤦♂️ the angle of the cut on the board is what those numbers are...
@@whopua 0° being cutting board in half... every tick one way or the other you are increasing the angle cut on the board... From 0° up to somewhere around 50° for most miter saws....

Just make it a 45 like it’s supposed to be that’s what finish carpentry is for to fix everything that’s not rite
