That plug makes it seem like its from the 70s by the looks of it I don't know if it would have a date code or even an information sticker on the bottom, I've never seen a lamp like this before it's a shame that people practically look for a reason to throw things away rather than trying to fix or preserve them.
Looks 70's, by the plug. I have an all metal, antique brass floor lamp, with similar construction, from the mid-70's. Very nice save on that! Should serve you well for decades.
Great-looking lamp...I wonder if the folks trashed it because they are so unaware of things electrical that they don't know bulbs are replaceable! (Maybe that's being a bit too critical of them; anyway, they did give you a nice gift!) That plug looks almost like one of those easy to replace types where you squeeze the prongs together toward the center and then pull forward to remove the prongs and wiring from the shell.
When I see a lamp with an incandescent bulb, (or even a cfl) I get the feeling it hasn't been used much recently. I feel like most people are using LED nowadays, myself included. I dislike flickering LED's but LED bulbs are becoming a necessary evil. I couldn't imagine what our electric bill would be using incandescent bulbs.
I have been finding a lot of lamps in the trash with cfl bulbs lately. I always stop to get the bulbs. I mostly LED in my home as well, but rarely turn the lights on anymore and if I do they are dimmed down really low.
People have used incandescent light bulbs for decades. The light bill would be the same as what it was. I still use incandescent lighting almost exclusively.

Yeah I’d say by the plug, that could be from the 70s or possibly 60s.
I agree, it could go back that far.
I love those hurricane lamps. Kind of a shame that the ge bulb is burnt out but I’m glad you got the lamp
Thanks for letting me know.

True I'll find somewhere to use it.
Great desk lamp or end table lamp. That's easily a $50 find.
Thanks for letting me know.
Why is a such a nice lamp that is vintage was thrown out.
Because it's ''''''''''''''''''outdated'''''''''''''''''''''''''.
I saved a 76 watt Philips bulb from the trash today and also saved a 32" CRT TV. This house had so much stuff set outside the house and the sidewalk.
Thanks for letting me know.
Good job Jordan
Thanks

I'm sure it was discarded because it's "outdated".
@@JordanU Yes, unfortunately form or look is more important than function to many people.
I like it😊
OK

The electric bill probably wouldn’t be as much as you think.
