    My son and I tackled this job on his 09 Maxima. Midas wanted $911 for the parts and labor. I bought the part for $95 on Amazon and it took about 8 hours to do the work. We watched this video well over 25 times. We jacked the front of the car as high as it could go, chocked the wheels, and used jack stands to keep it secure.
    One of the hardest parts is getting the bolt in the back of the power steering loose. If you can jack up the whole front of the car it will be easiest. You have to go in from under the passenger wheel well side and slide underneath the middle of the engine. If you look above the exhaust pipe you can see the bolt in the back of the power steering pump. We used about 20 inches in extensions with a 17mm socket to loosen the bolt. Afterward all the bolts were removed, we used a breaker bar to pry the pump off the engine since it's wedged onto the engine.
    Getting the new pump on was a pain since the bracket in the back that has to slide between two metal parts on the engine. After many minutes of frustration I grinded the lip on the back of the power steering pump to reduce it and it fit in with no problem. Without this video it would have been impossible. I hope this comment helps someone.

    hello at 4:21 which special tools did you use to unbolt the power steer pump from the back?

    • @kasagpi
      @kasagpi  Před 3 lety +6

      I used 17 mm 1/2 drive socket with universal joint and a long 1/2 drive extension....thanks for watching...

    • @twotoned2774
      @twotoned2774 Před rokem

      I recommend you jack the front of the car as high as you can on both sides because you have to go in from under the passenger wheel well side and slide underneath the middle of the engine. If you look above the exhaust pipe you can see the bolt in the back of the power steering pump. Very awkward angles and tight spaces. We used about 20 inches in extensions with a 17mm socket to loosen the bolt. Impact tools kept falling off the bolt which made it impossible to loosen so we used a regular 1/2 ratchet like Kasagpi did in the video.
