The complete song-list, in order, was: Dress You Up, Holiday, Into The Groove, Everybody, Angel (this performance was not included on the VHS), Gambler, Borderline (this performance was not included on the VHS), Lucky Star, Crazy For You, Over and Over, Burning Up (this performance was not included on the VHS), Like a Virgin, and Material Girl.
'The Virgin Tour' was the top-selling music video-cassette for 1986.
The video was certified two-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipment of 50,000 copies.
To date, the VHS has never been re-released on DVD format. - Hudba
This is probably the most beautiful and youthful Madona experience. So free and natural looking. Sad that some of her peers are no longer with us. Seeing her today makes me appreciate her for the Queen that she is.

The thing I liked back then is that the performers all had to really sing, dance, and put on the show. These artists were some of the most authentic performers ever

I was 16 and just driving when she came out big in 1984. Every weekend my Madonna Like a Virgin tape was in my boom box in the backseat just blasting as loud as I could get it!
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this concert. Such an innocent time. I just realized she pretty much kept the same dance routine for the Blond Ambition tour. Pretty cool.

I have always admired her physical beauty besides her intelligence and talent. Madonna's cat eyes and perfect physique (ample breasts and small derriere). She's a classic Leo- a born entertainer. I am Madonna's age, so i remember when she burst onto the World stage and entranced so many people. Her critics did not understand her humor. I still smile when I see her concerts from the 1980s since it reminds me of my youth.

She started the whole thing--free expression and dancing, while allowing other musicians to improvise and express themselves freely. She wasn't the first to bring dance into music, but she was the first to spread it around, and allow others to take the stage.
Plus she evolved with great music, so that's something to think about.
She was the first female artist of that era who had choreographed dancing to every song she performed and she did it brilliantly!

She has been influenced by many genres, forms of arts, people, events, social and political issues and that reflects in her open mind and artistic expression too. She grew and became who she is as a person and as a human through her openness, eclecticism and experiments. Club music is her home genre, where she started from and where she was exposed to different people and different mindsets. That will always be her home.
Madonna doesn't even have to bother with being the first or the last because, "There is only one Madonna". She will always stand out regardless of where she stands. That goes for her work too. When immaculate collection came out, it sold 2 million copies. But it went on to become one of the best-selling records of all time. Even though the radio stations in the US have largely boycotted playing her records since American life, she is still selling records and streaming high and wide. Goddess Madonna will always have something interesting to present. They may be shocking to some, hated by some and adored by others, but that is what art and also life= all about. She literally learned to live and lived to tell.
Despite all the badmouthing, jealousy and trash that were thrown at her, she got up, moved on, danced and sang and did her own thing, made it through the wilderness and resurfaced shinny and new way she felt at that time.
Madonna is way more than a pop music Icon. She is an all-around cultural Icon. All in one place.

This was her first tour, and the first time she played Cobo Hall in her home town. No lip syncing, sold out crowd, she was so young........... weren’t we all. After the concert, her dancers went to Backstreet. I couldn’t afford a ticket because a year before, my folks found out I was gay and threw me out. I had to work all the time then. I wished I could have been there. I’m 61 now, I’ve been with my husband for 32 years. It seems like such a long time ago, but I still remember all the fun my friends and I had every Wednesday and Saturday dancing until 2, then going to Backstage for breakfast. Wish we could have just one more night.
Awesome story ! I was living in Flint , MI then and was young (23 ) had no way to get down to Detroit to sew this concert. Backstreet I went to years later tho ! 60 years old now and not partnered. Luck you !
@@marcathens2951, then there’s a chance we danced with each other!? Do you remember the 2 orange neon bar grids that lowered over the dance floor from the ceiling? The huge screen that unrolled for the videos? And of course the fog that always left a strange taste in your mouth. The other thing I remember well was the morning after, jumping in the shower and the smell of cigarette smoke wafting up to the fan. We used to have fun,, before everyone had a tiny screen plastered to their face.
@@johnkeating362 lol probably not . I was with my boyfriend Rick at the time ( probably 2001 or 2002 ) and my friend Tracy. Rick lived In Pontiac but we both worked together in Auburn Hills MI. He had us down for a bar night. We didn't stay long it was so busy. I think we went to another place after that. Those were fun days. I only went there once and that was that night. I should have more knowing now how no one goes out anymore and so many places closed. Life sure does fly by too fast. 😔

I read an interview with Patrick Leonard (one of the keyboard players on this tour, who went on to produce 5 of Madonna's albums). He thought it would be an easy gig - "Drinking a Diet Coke [with one hand] while playing 'Like a Virgin' [with the other]," but he said the programming and the complex demands of the musical arrangements kept him on his toes.
After listening to the GROOVE and skill of the backing musicians and vocalists in this performance, I can see why!

Of course, her singing is far from being perfect... But any voice teacher will tell you how difficult it is to sing and dance (crazy, by the way!) simultaneously. Another thing is her singing back, a cappella, after the music/dance break - and with a perfect key! No one does it like Madonna, let me tell you...
Very few singers really have a perfect voice anyway .Madonnas voice is unique and I image it would be extremely hard to sing and dance good all at the same time like she does and people who say she has a lousy voice can they sing any better I doubt it.I would like to hear them sing and see if they sound any better than she does LOL,I like her voice very much.

Saw the Blonde Ambition tour in Detroit.....this woman sings live and does every dance move twice as hard as her back ups. Not crazy about her recent stuff. Just get back to your basics. Dont have to reinvent the wheel
