PS. Want to learn to play beautiful gypsy jazz guitar arrangements in the style of Bireli Lagrene?
    - then you need to check out my "Playing Bireli Lagrene-Style Solo Gypsy Jazz Guitar Masterclass" inside the Gypsy Jazz Club here -
    ► geni.us/GypsyJazzClub
In this class you'll learn several beautiful guitar pieces. I've also composed for you four ready-to-play Solo Gypsy Jazz Etudes that will suit every skill level.
Here's what we cover together in this online masterclass:
✅ 'Rue De Pierre Part 2' The Juicy Bits
✅ Etude in Am - 'Minor Swing'
✅ Etude in Dm - 'Clair De Lune'
✅ Etude in C Major - 'All Of Me'
✅ Etude in D Major - 'Manoir De Mes Rêves'
I show you each phrase and chord in these Etudes, and then demonstrate how they relate to the underlying chord progression.
This approach will give you more harmonic options next time you play 'Minor Swing,' 'Clair De Lune,' 'All Of Me,' & 'Manoir De Mes Rêves.'

I have been watching Robin on and off for years, firstly how does he stay so cool all the time?? Just not fair, oh and of course, inspiring in a genre of guitar that can be a little 'elitist' at times (just my perceptions only) and makes GJ fun rather than just 'too hard' (which I have found over the years)..Good on you Robin!

This is beautiful. I am writing one that is very similar, but involves a few different chords. The D with the raised 5th is beautiful, but it doesn’t work with my tune.
I was watching Django’s legacy earlier and this reminds me of Babic’s intro. It’s so lovely to play as well especially in my own style. 👍🏻

Playing guitar or any instrument for that matter is not a sprint but rather a marathon. It’s a lifetime of getting to know your instrument and learning from other musicians from every genre. I was always taught play the melody. The second you get away from the melody your just making noise Great playing robin 👍

I used to sit in / play with a lot of musicians when I was in my twenties. Geez I’m 49 now. Wow. Lol. Young musicians get into a competition of hmmmm I can play faster and better then he just did. I remember then would talk to me in between songs and say … great playing. But what are your doing. You just trying to play fast ? Then I would remind myself. Ok Pete. Play the melody.

Very beautiful. Very simple but very beautiful. Growing up a Romanian gypsy I’ve been around the guitar since I was 3 years old. We never called it gypsy jazz. We just picked up our guitars and played them. So many times players just play fast Which is ok. But the melody goes out the window. I think what made Django so unique…. He always played the melody. In any music if you get away from the melody you are no longer making music your making noise. Lol

Birelli is on a different level. He in my opinion makes new melodies around the existing melody. Not sure if the listener realizes that. He might not realize that. The ability to hear something in your head and just make it happen on the guitar all the greats are capable of that. In all types of music

Beautiful piece! It looked easier than it was, but I’ll do my best to learn it.
Btw, that Dm7 with the raised 5 is actually rather an Bbmaj9/D, as the 5th in Dm is still played on the 1st string, but sure it’s easier understood as an alteration of Dm. Perhaps Dm7b6 would work too?

    • @GypsyJazzSecrets

@@GypsyJazzSecrets Thanks for the reply! I’m working on it. However, having never worked that much on solo pieces before, I found the most challenging thing to be to prioritize the melody, i.e. keep those notes ringing while filling in the chords below. I usually do the opposite. 😏 That E7#5#9 in the end was a new chord to me that I’ll definitely going to start using. A bit of a stretch but totally playable and sounds very cool. 😎

I just really like your teaching style and general humble attitude shown in your videos, also seen in how you take the time to interact with commenters here like myself.
