Ahead of 'The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe' running at The Lowry, Manchester, this Christmas, its iconic titular character has arrived in the venue's foyer, where it will remain suspended for visitors to enjoy, until early 2022.
The puppet, which is made from aluminium, timber and cane and is covered in fabric and paper, has been suspended majestically in The Lowry's main foyer until early 2022.
Aslan is one of three versions created for the stage show and was used during the production's run at The Bridge Theatre, London in 2019/20. A new Aslan puppet been created for the current tour which visits The Lowry over Christmas, opening on Wednesday 8 December 2021 and running until Saturday 15 January 2022.
The cast includes Samantha Womack (White Witch), Ammar Duffus (Peter Pevensie), Shaka Kalokoh (Edmund Pevensie), Robyn Sinclair (Susan Pevensie) and Karise Yansen (Lucy Pevensie). Aslan is played by Chris Jared, Mr Tumnus by Jez Unwin, Mr Beaver by Sam Buttery and Maugrim by Michael Ahomka-Lindsay. The tour will be directed by Michael Fentiman, based on the original production by Sally Cookson with original Set and Costume design by Rae Smith.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is produced on tour by Elliott & Harper Productions and Catherine Schreiber and based on the original Leeds Playhouse production.
The third reincarnation of Aslan, and what audiences can expect to see when watching the production at The Lowry this festive season, has been imagined by Puppetry Director Toby Olié.
'The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe' runs at the Lowry from Wed 8 Dec 2021 to Sat 15 Jan 2022, and you can book your tickets now at:
