    Catnip is also a natural mosquito repellant. Scientists don't know how the catnip benefits from the cat but the cat has a genetic disposition to roll around in catnip keeping fleas, ticks and mosquitoes from biting. I want to grow it tovrub on my son who gets large knots from mosquito bites.

      @TeamBensonHomestead  Před 3 lety +2

      It does work well. Normally I'm covered in bites by now fro just sitting out and watering my garden and I don't have a single bit. I want to move it to a pot to keep it because I have seen a difference

    Love my weedy things ❤ I tell people to learn each plant and how it affects their bodies one at a time. Over the years I've learned; for me; at least a combination of equal parts catnip, skullcap and wild lettuce tea will turn an upsetting stressful day into a restful night. Again only try one at a time and see how your body reacts.

    Thank you for the info! I started growing it last year to help repel mosquitos and never really thought to look into other benefits! It spreads faster than my other mints (even though only in containers, so nip off any flowering buds as soon as you see them!). For the tea, do you make it with fresh or dried catnip and how much do you use?

    • @TeamBensonHomestead
      @TeamBensonHomestead  Před 3 lety +1

      I want to move mine to a pot. So for dosages it really depends on the person. When I'm making it with fresh leaves I do around 4 leaves with 4 leaves of regular mint to give it a better taste. With dried I do about a tsp of each. I always find a tap to be a good starting point for my family

    • @TeamBensonHomestead
      @TeamBensonHomestead  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey big welcome to my channel. So I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a different type for humans. I know when you buy seeds it will say edible for humans on it. Cats are fine with both types but from what I read humans can have more of an upset stomach from regular catnip that you grow for cats.

      So its hard to say because everyone is different and since you are 12 there can be even more factors. Normally about 3 leaves would be just fine but I would check with your parents and doctor just to make sure
