The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Ella and The Duke... it just doesn't get any better.
Ella and anybody! One of a kind! She died before I was old enough to fully appreciate her. I missed so much.
Thank you for this video!
No one could scat sing better than Ella!! Incredible voice as well.
When Ella Fitzgerald scats, she’s like another instrument in the band.
Where is the scat like what minute 😅
3:30 during Cottontail. @@Ib3ht7579
I am 20 years old and was in the choir for all four years of high school. I was one of few students that knew the greatness of jazz as a teen. I wish more people my age, or teenagers, would give this great music more appreciation.
Turning 26 this year, I've adored Ella for the past 10! Nice to see fellow young swingers around
young jazz enjoyers unite 🤝🫡
I'm just in awe every time she opens her mouth.
Wow!
This is as good as jazz can get- Ellington playing Ellington, to the accompaniment of vocals by Ella Fitzgerald. Both artists are at the peak of their talent... Duke and his band are cookin', and Ella's phrasing and scats are off the charts. Add some top drawer prodution values (love the set!) and you've got one of the greatest televised performances you'll ever see.
Thank you so much for sharing this gem!
Two of the best at what they did.
Ella should have made the money that the younger generation is making, but it was another time back in the day. Record companies didn't pay what they pay now.
What?
Just the greatest 😊♥️
The Duke and Ella? Doesn't get any better than this.
Duke and Ella....that is all you need to know.
"Conttontail" at 320 beats per minute, and still the brass section absolutely nails it (3:55) in perfect unison.
I love how Ella lets everyone know that’s Johnny Hodges on alto sax. What a sweetheart.
I'm almost 44 and i wish i could go back to those old days to see real artist like that, showing what real singing was all about . This is what real talent is all about. To me Ella is on top with those best singers of all time, male/female. I love her music so much.
The more hits Duke crammed into his medley, the more royalties he made!
Sensational. I'm beginning to see the light 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️ Ella Fitzgerald is one of the greatest Jazz Vocalist of all times. Her improvisations are out of this world 🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎. The you Ella.
Great Ella!
That was truly a great performance! No one came close to matching Ella when doing scat. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Those were the days!!
It was always awesome when Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald collaborated🌹🌹🌹🌹
Just incredible--but it's really the "Mood Indigo" that blows you away. Her control is amazing--you can see it on Ellington's face at one point.
2:41 This grin says it all: He loved her madly, and we love 'em both.
This is a big rescue of 2 giants of music.
beautiful !
Ella, Duke, his orchestra - giants. Thank you for posting.
Excellent. Fun.
Love Ella
That was fun!!
💚💛🧡. Ella Fitzgerald the only queen of jazz, she's my favorite❣️ And of course Eva Cassidy she's phenomenal❣️. 🎤🎷🎺🥳
So delightful. 🌹
Wow. Wudda Jam !
Ella é uma orquestra toda! Insuperável
FANTASTIC ! NINA
What about the Frank Sinatra video from June of 1964 when he appeared on the
Ed Sullivan show?
Fantástico,gracias.
How could they make the First Lady of Soul wear that obviously blonde wig during that era? We all know how much she sweats. :-) But she's always spot-on even when she's most uncomfortable. PURE MUSICAL GENIUS.
Who is "they" in this fantasy? Ella wanted to use the wig and did so.
👏👏👏
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this is AMAZING !!
Великолепно 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
wow
Take that, Tay Tay.
💜🙏💜
not!...a fan of scat singing though Ella loved to do it.....who can argue against her?
her Mood Indigo here is what i listen to Ella for.....
sharp
And now we have trap drill and grime 🤦🏾♂️
👏👏👏
