  • You can save thousands on a kitchen renovation by taking matters into your own hands and transforming your dated cabinets with just a few coats of paint.
    Are you looking for an inexpensive and practical way to give your kitchen a facelift? You don't need to go to the expense and inconvenience of a full-scale renovation. With just a few cans of paint and a few tools, you can transform your kitchen cabinets and make them look like wood. Faux wood painting techniques can be found everywhere, but this product makes it so easy!
    In this video, we'll show you how to paint your cabinets to look like wood, step-by-step. I'll show you what tools and materials you'll need and the best techniques for creating a beautiful wood finish.
    Faux wood kitchen cabinets are a great solution for projects like mine where real wood cabinets have been painted previously, or for other material types that aren't wood at all. Use this same method for an entire kitchen, or just for crown moulding.
    Total cost of my entire kitchen makeover: $155 in paint + rollers and brushes I already had on hand.

    I worked at Benjamin Moore for over 16 years ... the "painted wood" look you have accomplished is AMAZING! We always had to tell people you either had to restain real wood the traditional way, or prime and paint - this is a game changer!!!

    Hi Sarah! I’ve watched your channel for a couple of years and realized today that I’m not subscribed. I will do so immediately. I was wondering if you had ever thought of doing some kind of pint treatment on your counters. I’ve seen a couple of video’s where the treatment ultimately made the counter top look like marble. I am interested to know what you would do if given the opportunity. I really enjoy your style. It really speaks to me. It looks like you have moved into a larger home. I have a smaller kitchen but would love to make it appear larger. Thank you for sharing. 😺

      Thank you so much! I’ve never painted a kitchen countertop as I don’t think it would be durable long term. But I have seen others do it with success!

    Whattttt…, game changer. I have a piece of furniture (pie safe) I dreamed of sanding down snd staining it but it was constructed with numerous types of wood, I might try this. Btw, do you purchase the stain yourself in the color you want?

    Amazing! Did not think that was going to work. Random question....your fridge...can you open your freezer door all of the way? I lived with a fridge like this for 5 years and going in sideways to get things in/out before updating to a top/bottom fridge.

    Good morning. We are currently painting our kitchen cabinets and your videos have been a HUGE help. It seems our crown molding that trims the cabinets is mdf board covered in vinyl to match the wood. How would you go about painting over that?

    • @GraceInMySpace
      @GraceInMySpace  Před 10 měsíci

      I’d use a primer like BIN that made for slick surfaces. Then paint as usual!

    Thanks for sharing. What a neat product. Do you plan to tint the underside where the stools are?

    • @GraceInMySpace
      @GraceInMySpace  Před rokem

      Probably not. It takes a big beating from guests so I’d rather keep it wood so I’m not constantly fixing chipped paint. ☺️

    • @GraceInMySpace
      @GraceInMySpace  Před 8 měsíci

      No issues! However since I didn’t do the cabinet door or frame it hasn’t seen any of the normal wear and tear a kitchen sees.

    If I did a half ass job painting my cabinets, can I lightly sand over the paint and use this product?

    • @GraceInMySpace
      @GraceInMySpace  Před 5 měsíci

      You can use this product but I’d sand and prime first if the existing layer is peeling at all. You want to give it a good base or it will keep having the same problem.

    You did not count the cost of the primer, the cleaners and cleaning rags, sponges, etc. These are true costs as we are considering our DIY time at $0.00/hr. I bring this up as these are also costs the so-called professional love to tack you with. The work you did is very good, lots of great advice and as a woodworking myself, I would never have thought the faux wood would have done such an excellent job. Great work and thank you for sharing..
