Sometimes God makes promises which seem impossible because He simply loves building more evidence that nothing is impossible for Him. Although that perspective? It's not easy to see when we're in the waiting. So why does He make us wait for promises? And what do we do while we wait?

Prezzzz!!! I was in tears just by the thumbnail. Then to get on there and hear you be like man I know this one is heavy, and I'm nervous. It had me even more nervous! But God! That opening prayer was everything because I definitely needed to relax. The visual of God relaxed was what I needed. Oh, Preston, I can't express enough how thankful I am for your love and obedience. The timeliness of this word, the conformation of all that I have been walking through, and the encouragement while I'm in the in-between was what my heart needed. I’ve beat myself up this week with so many questions on if I’ve been doing it well, if I heard Him right, and even contemplated throwing in the towel. This promise is BIG and God reminded me today that even though I have such a sweet gift in the promise. The promise is FOR HIS GLORY and HIS KINGDOM and isn’t about me. Please pray for me, to keep the promise in my heart and to keep my eyes on the Promiser and to REMAIN in peace in the waiting, because brother, I am absolutely preparing to steward all that this promise holds and I know it's not something I can take lightly or expect overnight. Ya girl is just tired and selfishly ready. But I'm totally cool with waiting longer. Thank you Preston, I love you big!!

Because after after 47 years of life…feeling both God’s presence and love for me as early memories of 3 evidently, & tangibly…. on top of years of promise, and trauma while believing in God…. We need a Christian study on who we were when we were waiting vs who we were when the promise was fulfilled, because GUARANTEED had the promise been fulfilled sooner that it was, we'd have wrecked it. A blessing received a day too soon, is a curse. And you don't get it, till you GET it!

I’ve been listening to The Leaders Cut for several months now. It’s always so timely. I so much appreciate your desire to let God be the big God that he is and not shy away from things like prophecy and promises while also being careful to tightly hold in check these things according to scripture. I believe my daughter has some of these gifts and I want to guide her in how to hold them tightly according to scripture. For me, the message was so God inspired. 1) many of the things things you said early on were things God had already spoken to me as I sifted through this middle space waiting for his promises. 2) the second half….I had prayed a very specific prayer regarding how God had been leading me and then listened to the second 1/2 where he answered my questions in my prayer perfectly. So very grateful to God for continuing to speak his truth to me and refine me.
Thank you for being sensitive to the Holy Spirits leading and rightly dividing the word of truth.

Good Lord!! Every time I’m having a hard time with something or God is just breaking something down God sends you with the thumbnails with the things I’m literally dealing with! Recently I’ve been struggling with knowing when God is listening to me and responding. The past couple Sundays we’ve talked about 1 Samuel and Hannah. I sent that same passage to someone who means a lot to me, and who I thought was the promise I’d placed emphasis on despite stewarding the wrong way. Then as I’m listening to this in the gym randomly you drop this and I came to tears when you mention Hannah out of nowhere, of all the promises you could have used as examples. God has perfect timing 👌🏾
Hey Preston. I could use help with a thought I just had... How does carrying a promise in your heart differ from having a vision? You mention not keeping the promise in front of our eyes (not placing it on the mirror). Aren't we supposed to keep a vision in front of us? How do we handle these two areas assuming they are different. I was always taught about vision, having a vision, making it visible and speaking it. I guess I'm just a little confused. I want to understand.
In 2006, while listening to the song" I will Raise you up to more than you can be" I heard "you will be a Pastors wife." That was the least thing I have ever desired to be. It was not on my radar.
I haven't dwelled on constantly over the years, but every so often, I feel like God brings it to mind.
I can imagine now receiving the promise. I'm much more grounded in God's word.
I'm in my late 60's now. I won't ever rule it out:).
Hey Preston. Thank you! The Lord blessed me through your discussion of Hannah specifically. I do have a question, I hope you answer it! How does one discern a promise from a strong desire on your heart? There are impossible looking things that I have prayed for over time, that I feel have been put on my heart, but I also find that I don’t necessarily believe it is God’s will as time goes on and it has not occurred - obviously this could just mean it is not time yet, but it can be hard not to start to doubt. And I don’t want to be determined to assert something in prayer that is not His will, would rather lament and move on. I do like how you pointed out to not miss the promiser for the promise. That was convicting!
There’s no quick and easy way to determine this I suppose or that would probably be some form of divination and I repent for how I have desired to know before God wants me to. But the way you talked about it, it makes sense that the longing and praying for something does something over time preparing us for what His will is.
What is a biblical example of a promise communicated individually, aside from situations where an angel of the Lord appeared or someone audibly heard or was talking with God? I don’t hear God audibly at this time so it can be difficult to know if it’s just something I have attached myself to or an actual “promise”. Thanks in advance.

Thank You Jesus for using Preston in such a timely manner!!! Because yes I have read all the scriptures that I thought would bring the promise(s) while waiting. I can honestly say sometimes I been a bit of a whiny little brat. Yet, the more & more I just trust in Jesus. The Holy Spirit would reveal more patience. Yeah it strengthens and stretching the faith. It isn’t about the things. It becomes about surrender and I want to. Knowing who God is becomes so much more important to me. Having the relationship. When you have God you have everything. I have cried especially when it was pruning season. I still do.Then being in the wilderness. I have Created an Ishmael before I knew better. Smh 🤦♀️ Oh having the fire 🔥 turned up!!! It humbled me and I am grateful that the promise of Him never leaving or forsaken me is constant. The Old Testament is so profoundly supernatural. I totally agree! Yet, the whole Book is a continuum. Wooo! Just knowing that there’s other people to help with understanding this process makes it better on a human level.

I don't have a promise from God. That's my burden. WHAT is my promise??? I'm struggling thru something very traumatic and I have NO PROMISE from God. Where are people getting their "promises" from because aside from the scriptures that could pertainin to anyone, that people think are theirs specifically, they are just promises to whom He was speaking to at that time.
I believe there are "promises" we all WISH or THINK God is going to come thru on because we made them up. God has never said audibly, or by signs I PROMISE THIS TO YOU. I know He can do anything He wants, when He wants, but I've come to terms with the fact that just because we want it with our whole mind, body and soul that doesn't mean it's a promise.

@34:55 But wasn't Job, in the Bible, angry towards God? He wrestled with his pain and sorrow, cursed himself and kept saying that the Lord had wronged him and abandoned him. I know that God's reply is that He is Sovereign but God also says that Job spoke "what is right" about God.

Also, regarding the hypothetical promise about you and your wife and you are the one who did wrong... imagine the promise from HER pov. The promise didn't come to pass not because of any of her wrong doing. Isn't it harder to process that loss of the promise from her pov?
