    Haha really like those!
Point A. Knighting squires en masse before important battles was a thing.
Point B. Knighting just about anyone available to replenish ranks after a disaster like Agincourt was also a thing.
Point C. Selfishness and brutality of the ruling military class was always the tendency. Chivalry was a coordinated effort to turn the destructive and selfish brute into a benefit to society.

The romanticization of the past is such a difficult thing to tackle. Especially in times of turmoil there is this impulse to look back to a time where somehow things were better even tho they almost never were. This kind of mythologizing of past military societies kinda is universal, we see the same with the Spartans who in movies like 300 were depicted as using "boylovers" as insults even tho they engaged with it themselves in history or the samurai who have a similar Canon to knights but just the fact they were forced to sit on their calves so they can't assassinate their lords as easily shows they weren't as pure of heart as claimed. Really difficult topic to tackle, one hand learning more about how things were actually like helps but there is usually more going on in a person's head for all this to seem appealing to begin with

one my favorite things ive heard while talking about "knights" was "your average knight had more to do with al capones enforcers, than he did lancelot"
