This is an old form of Jazz called 'Swing'. My mom would go to Roseland
Ballroom in the late 30s to early 40's to dance and listen to 'The Big Bands'
that performed there. It was more of an 'up tempo' style of 'Swing', but when
they took a break and a female soloist came on stage with a few of the
members of the orchestra, she would slow down the tempo, much like this
song is.
