When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. “The First Omen” stars Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawkeef Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (“The Northman”), and Bill Nighy (“Living”). The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson (“Legion”), based on characters created by David Seltzer (“The Omen”), with a story by Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (“Firestarter”). The producers are David S. Goyer (“Hellraiser”) and Keith Levine (“The Night House”) and the executive producers are Tim Smith, Whitney Brown (“Rosaline”), and Gracie Wheelan.

In anticipation of the release of this film I'm going to watch the 1976 original tonight.
It's like a combination of Conjuring, nun and the exorcist so the omen was born 🤣 Wait, what did I say just now? 😐

This shows that you don't need a gorefest to be scared witless - a masterly prequel full of menace and hinting at the horror to come. I must rewatch The Omen now
Always said what you don't see is far more frightening than what you do see.

In the original omen, the mother of the Anitchrist is a jackle
They changed a little in The First Omen, instead of mother the father Satan has been described and presented as a Jackal

Well, after watching this version i think the original was far better. But thanks for giving a modern version.

Receiving mixed reviews from critics, it became a commercial success, grossing over $60 million in the US and was one of the highest-grossing films of 1976.
Earning 2 Oscar nominations and winning 1 for Jerry Goldsmiths musical score.
It is a classic cult favorite.

In the omen they go to the grave & discover the Mother of Damien is a jackal. So I’m not sure how that’s incorporated. Yet I feel the concept of creating fear to get ppl back to God is a good concept
But that makes God's relationship abusive, i don't buy it that a loving God would do such a thing to the ones he loves.

I heard there's a deleted scene with Father Brennan throwing the Cardinal's shoe over the orphanage as he was upset at losing the Vatican quiz night

I'm SO amped to see this. Netflix South Africa does not have it. I will find a way for sure. In 1976 as a tender teenager, I was scared out of my wits, but watched it with gusto! Incredibly scary, and I don't scare easily. Lets bite into this for sure 😀😀

It’s these kinds of movies that most definitely terrify me in the worst way! It’s stories like this that could happen or has happened. It’s not make believe, it’s completely real.

Because most people don't even know about the first installment, which was released during the 70s, it became a phenomenon like the exorcist but forgotten because of delays in the new installment until it happens in this decade... and its contribution to the new Hollywood wave! Kudos to Ms Stevenson...

The original invented the Final Destination type death scenes. The trailer hints at one or two. They better pay off. Smells a bit like a weaker Stigmata. Hope I'm wrong. Need a good horror 😮

This is a prequel to the omen. It tells the back story of Damien’s mothers. Because wasn’t he adopted in the original first omen movie.
@redeye007 In the original he kinda was adopted. Senator Thron's real child was killed (they told him he died at birth.) And was convinced that Damien whose 'mother' died in child birth would be a good substitute and to pretend that he was the real son.
Later we find out Damien's mother was a Jackel.
If you are a horror fan …..this movie is pretty boring ..no shock moments ….no hiding behind hands ….I wish someone would make a decent horror movie ….don’t waste your $$$ wait till it comes in free to air ..truly disappointed..seen this today 4th April

I think I'll pass we accept too many demonic and devil like movies and music nowadays I used to love horror movies etc. but I love my Lord Jesus Christ now
The way i see it, if a film is about hunting a demon, it isnt satanic, its preventing the devil from winning and theres nothing more christian than that
